By Dave "The Brute" Kent, Ace Wrestling Reporter
The wild frontier of Dawson City provided the perfect backdrop for NPCW’s House Show 009, where the action in the ring rivaled the rugged beauty of the Yukon wilderness. Fans packed the arena, braving the frosty conditions outside to witness a night of epic clashes, rising rivalries, and unforgettable moments. In true NPCW fashion, the drama and athleticism brought the crowd to their feet.
Match 1: Moonshadow (w/ The Wolf Pack) vs. Furiosa Ardilla
The opening contest showcased the ferocious agility and tenacity of Furiosa Ardilla against the cunning and ruthless tactics of Moonshadow, accompanied by her loyal Wolf Pack at ringside.
Referee: Honest Abe (+0)
The match kicked off with Moonshadow applying the Lycan Lock (Dragon Sleeper) to establish her dominance, but Furiosa fought back valiantly with her high-energy offense, landing moves like the Tornado DDT and Axe Kick to keep the contest competitive.
The Wolf Pack proved to be a decisive factor, consistently interfering to tip the scales in Moonshadow’s favor. From tripping up Furiosa during key moments to double-teaming her outside the referee’s view, their presence created a chaotic and uneven playing field. Despite this, Furiosa displayed incredible resilience, executing counters and landing impressive moves such as the Senton and Code Red.
The closing minutes saw Moonshadow rake Furiosa’s eyes against the ropes, a blatantly underhanded tactic that Honest Abe somehow missed. With Furiosa disoriented, Moonshadow delivered a final pin attempt to secure the victory in the 19th minute. The Dawson City crowd responded with mixed reactions—admiration for Furiosa’s heart and disdain for the underhanded methods of Moonshadow and her Wolf Pack.
Winner: Moonshadow (Pinfall via Rake Eyes on Ropes)
Kent’s Take: This match had all the makings of an opener that could captivate the crowd, but it was marred by constant interference from the Wolf Pack. Furiosa Ardilla brought tremendous effort and athleticism, but her momentum was stifled time and again by distractions and cheap tactics. While Moonshadow’s in-ring abilities are undeniable, NPCW needs to rein in its reliance on outside interference to let the wrestlers’ skills take center stage.
Rating: 3/5
Match 2: Gods of War (Ares & Mars) vs. Merry Band (Friar Tuck & Little John)
The frosty night in Dawson City continued with an intense war in the squared circle as Gods of War (Ares & Mars) collided with the Merry Band (Friar Tuck & Little John). A battle of power, teamwork, and endurance played out over 45 grueling minutes, leaving fans awestruck but yearning for a decisive conclusion.
Referee: Honest Abe (+0)
From the opening bell, both teams showcased their strength and synergy, with the Gods of War dominating early rounds through coordinated double-team tactics like Short Arm Clotheslines and Bearhugs. Friar Tuck and Little John responded valiantly, displaying their own teamwork through hard-hitting offense like Rolling Scissors and the aptly named Towering Suplex.
As the minutes ticked by, chaos reigned, with all four competitors entering the ring during key moments to unleash a barrage of double-team maneuvers. Mars’ devastating Power Bomb and Gutwrench Backbreaker kept the Merry Band on the defensive, while Friar Tuck’s relentless offense with moves like the Sleeperhold and Cross Body Block ensured the Gods of War couldn’t run away with victory.
The final moments saw Ares and Mars push hard for a decisive finish with impactful double-team maneuvers like the Knee Lift and Lariat, but Little John managed to neutralize their efforts with reversals and clever counters. Ultimately, the time limit expired, leaving the match declared a draw—an anticlimactic end to an otherwise thrilling contest.
Match Result: Draw (Time Limit Expired)
Kent’s Take: This match showcased everything fans love about tag team wrestling—high-impact moves, strategic double-teaming, and fiery competition. However, the marathon finish left the crowd frustrated, as neither team could deliver the decisive blow needed to claim victory. NPCW’s reliance on time-limit draws risks diluting the drama and impact of its matches, especially when its talented roster deserves opportunities to shine with definitive outcomes. Both teams looked strong, but the lack of a clear winner overshadowed their efforts.
Rating: 3.5/5
Match 3: Sugar Plum Fairy (w/ Nutcracker General) vs. Maid Marion
The historic streets of Dawson City bore witness to the ever-compelling NPCW House Show 009, delivering fiery rivalries and unrelenting action in the ring. Fans were treated to another night of high-octane battles, and the third match showcased a clash of styles as Sugar Plum Fairy faced off against the Merry Band’s Maid Marion.
Referee: Honest Abe (+0)
This contest blended the cunning, acrobatic offense of Sugar Plum Fairy with the determined grit of Maid Marion, creating a fast-paced and unpredictable bout. The Nutcracker General wasted no time inserting himself into the fray, distracting Maid Marion and paving the way for Fairy to gain early control with her signature Sugar Rush Splash and Fairy Dust Dropkick.
Despite constant interference and being on defense for much of the match, Maid Marion refused to back down. She landed impactful moves such as the Arm-Trap Neckbreaker and a perfectly executed Bulldog, demonstrating her skill and resilience even in the face of overwhelming odds.
As the match progressed, Fairy’s relentless offense—including her Standing Moonsault and repeated use of the Guillotine Choke—began to wear down Marion. The closing moments saw Fairy lock in the Guillotine Choke one final time, forcing Maid Marion to submit and claiming victory in the ninth minute.
Winner: Sugar Plum Fairy (Submission via Guillotine Choke)
Kent’s Take: Sugar Plum Fairy’s victory was impressive, but the Nutcracker General’s constant interference once again marred what could have been a clean and memorable contest. Maid Marion’s grit and determination deserve recognition, as she showed skill and heart while fighting from underneath. NPCW needs to rethink its overuse of managers’ antics, as reliance on outside interference risks overshadowing the wrestlers’ abilities. Fairy demonstrated her athleticism and flair, but this match could have been far better without the distractions.
Rating: 3/5
Match 4: Hansel vs. Dragon King (w/ Dr. Frankenstein)
The dramatic backdrop of Dawson City set the stage for NPCW’s House Show 009, where heroes and villains clashed under the cold Yukon night sky. Fans were treated to a night of intense battles, including the highly anticipated fourth match featuring Hansel of the Hunter’s Enclave against Monster Bash’s imposing Dragon King, accompanied by the calculating Dr. Frankenstein.
Referee: Honest Abe (+0)
Hansel faced one of his most daunting challenges in the Dragon King, whose raw power and relentless offense dominated early rounds. The Dragon King landed impactful moves like the Dragon Bomb and Spinebuster, proving why he’s one of Monster Bash’s strongest competitors. However, Hansel demonstrated remarkable resilience and technical prowess, using moves like the Boston Crab and Spinning Toe Hold to wear down his colossal opponent.
Dr. Frankenstein’s presence at ringside added strategic chaos, guiding Dragon King at crucial moments and providing distractions to disrupt Hansel’s momentum. Despite the interference, Hansel showcased his agility and determination, countering with moves such as the Flying Forearm Smash and a perfectly executed Belly-to-Belly Suplex.
The closing moments saw Hansel deliver his signature Atomic Kneedrop, capitalizing on a worn-down Dragon King to secure the decisive pinfall victory in the 21st minute. The Dawson City crowd erupted in cheers for the victorious Enclave member.
Winner: Hansel (Pinfall via Atomic Kneedrop)
Kent’s Take: Hansel’s victory exemplified the triumph of strategy and technique over raw power, but Dr. Frankenstein’s interference kept the match from reaching its full potential. While Dragon King showcased his brute strength and undeniable ring presence, Hansel’s tenacity and agility ultimately earned him a well-deserved win. NPCW needs to carefully balance managerial interference to let its talented roster shine, because when the wrestling is this good, it speaks for itself.
Rating: 4/5
Main Event: Krampus & Abaddon (w/ Lilith) vs. Peter Cottontail & Rapido Rojo
The Dawson City faithful braved the icy winds to bear witness to the climactic main event of House Show 009, pitting the dark forces of Krampus and Abaddon, flanked by the ever-demonic Lilith, against the resilient Peter Cottontail and Rapido Rojo. What followed was a chaotic battle of brawn, strategy, and relentless teamwork that kept the audience on the edge of their seats for the full 45 minutes.
Referee: Honest Abe (+0)
From the opening bell, this bout erupted into a whirlwind of brutal offense and relentless tag-team strategies. The dark duo of Krampus and Abaddon relied on their overpowering strength and devastating moves, such as the Krampus Krush (Running Powerslam) and Hell’s Fury (Triple Non-Release Powerbomb), to dominate portions of the match. Lilith’s interference added an extra layer of chaos, inspiring her protégés with demonic fervor at crucial moments.
Peter Cottontail and Rapido Rojo, however, refused to be overwhelmed, showcasing their resilience and agility. Signature moves like Cottontail’s Flying Crossbody and Rojo’s Inverted STF kept them competitive, and their seamless tag-team chemistry allowed them to stay in the fight despite the odds.
The match reached its chaotic crescendo in the final 15 minutes, with all four competitors brawling in the ring and delivering impactful double-team maneuvers. While Krampus and Abaddon controlled much of the action with their overpowering tactics, Cottontail and Rojo countered with bursts of high-energy offense, highlighted by Cottontail’s pinpoint execution of his Leaping Judo Chop.
As the clock ticked down, neither side could secure the decisive fall. The match ultimately ended in a time-limit draw, leaving the crowd both exhausted and frustrated by the lack of a clear resolution to this gripping main event.
Match Result: Draw (Time Limit Expired)
Kent’s Take: This main event had all the makings of a classic—explosive offense, dramatic teamwork, and memorable moments. However, yet another time-limit draw robbed the match of its full potential. Krampus and Abaddon exuded dominance, while Peter Cottontail and Rapido Rojo showcased their never-say-die spirit, but the absence of a decisive ending left the fans craving closure. NPCW must address its overuse of drawn-out finishes, as even the strongest performances can’t fully shine without a definitive victor.
Rating: 4/5
Overall Take
NPCW’s House Show 009 in Dawson City brought the kind of action fans in the rugged north crave—intense battles, dramatic storytelling, and fiery rivalries. While the show delivered on many fronts, showcasing the incredible talent of NPCW’s roster, it struggled to stick the landing with its frequent reliance on time-limit draws and outside interference. The night showcased both the highs of inspired wrestling and the lows of missed opportunities.
Highlights of the Night:
Hansel's Grit and Triumph: Hansel’s clean and hard-fought victory over the monstrous Dragon King in Match 4 shone as the night’s standout moment. His tactical approach reminded fans of why the Hunter’s Enclave continues to dominate.
Tag Team Chaos: The Merry Band’s Friar Tuck and Little John brought thrilling energy in their battle against the Gods of War, blending impressive teamwork with raw determination.
Main Event Showdown: The clash between Krampus & Abaddon and Peter Cottontail & Rapido Rojo delivered a highly chaotic and entertaining match, though it ended in yet another frustrating draw.
Low Points:
Over-Reliance on Interference: Lilith, the Wolf Pack, and the Nutcracker General made their presence felt far too often, casting shadows over what could have been standout matches.
Time-Limit Draws: Both the main event and the second match lacked definitive endings, leaving fans unsatisfied and longing for closure.
Lack of a Show-Stealer: While every match had its moments, the night lacked a true “must-see” bout that leaves fans buzzing on their way out.
Overall Rating: 3.5/5
House Show 009 delivered exciting moments and a strong display of in-ring talent, but it was bogged down by its reliance on interference and inconclusive finishes. NPCW has the tools to craft unforgettable shows, but it must focus on clean storytelling and satisfying resolutions to fully capitalize on the talent at its disposal.
