House Show Recaps — Week of May 11th to May 17th

By Oliver Grant

Opening

This week’s house show schedule brought NPCW to Dunkirk and Vancouver, with both divisions leaning into rematches that gave the results more weight than a single night could provide.

In the Mythic division, Dunkirk belonged to wrestlers and teams trying to prove that last week’s momentum could either continue or be corrected. Dragon King swept Prince Charming, Black Knight did the same against Tin Man, and Heracles turned last week’s losses to Takuma Ryujin into two straight victories of his own. The tag division stayed more layered, with Lion and Scarecrow forcing a draw against Kaminari Hono on the first night before winning the rematch, while the Dread Knights handled Gods of War twice in the main event slot.

In Vancouver, the Polar division was defined by heavy interference, physical tag matches, and several results that could shift positioning. Moon Silver beat Bella Aurelia twice with the Wolf Pack involved. Ironfang did the same to Niven Snake, though Niven’s retaliation in the second match gave that result more texture. Jasper Fang and Belsnickel split a pair of competitive singles matches, while the River Reapers and Howlers moved from a 30-minute draw to a decisive River Reapers win.

The results below are drawn from the raw house show data for House Shows 033.1, 033.2, 034.1, and 034.2.

Featured Match Observation

Prince Charming vs Dragon King

Prince Charming and Dragon King gave Dunkirk a long opener that did more than fill time. It established the tone for the Mythic side of the week: durable wrestlers testing whether early momentum could survive sustained pressure.

Prince Charming had the flashier offense. His aerial attacks and quick-strike combinations repeatedly created openings, and he did enough damage to keep Dragon King from simply controlling the pace. The issue was sustainability. Dragon King kept absorbing stretches of offense and answering with heavier impact, especially late.

The match reached its strongest point in the second half, where both men had already shown enough offense that each shift mattered. Prince Charming’s reversals kept him alive, but Dragon King’s power finally became the cleaner route to the finish.

The Dragon Bomb ending fit the match. Prince Charming pushed the pace, but Dragon King survived the pace and closed with impact.

What it showed: Dragon King can handle speed and aerial pressure without losing his power base, while Prince Charming remains dangerous even in defeat.

Featured Match Observation

Kaminari Hono vs Lion and Scarecrow

The rematch between Kaminari Hono and Lion and Scarecrow was the strongest Mythic match of the week because it took the unresolved draw from the first night and gave it a clearer answer.

The first meeting had already shown that both teams could survive extended pressure. The rematch sharpened that into something more decisive. Kaminari Hono brought structure, double-team offense, and the influence of Lord Kurogami at ringside. Enrai and Kaen were especially dangerous when they could isolate an opponent and force the pace through repeated impact.

Lion and Scarecrow answered with resilience and timing. Scarecrow’s reversals were important in the middle of the match, especially when Kaminari Hono tried to build momentum through double-team sequences. Lion’s late surge gave the finish more weight, because it came after both teams had already emptied out long stretches of offense.

The Brainbuster finish over Kaen made the result feel earned. This was not a fluke after a draw. It was a team finding the right adjustment on the second night.

What it showed: Lion and Scarecrow can absorb pressure from a polished team and still find a decisive closing stretch when the match goes long.

Featured Match Observation

Belsnickel vs Jasper Fang

Belsnickel and Jasper Fang gave Vancouver a hard, competitive singles match built around persistence. Both wrestlers had stretches where they looked close to taking control, but neither could hold the match for long without being forced to reset.

Belsnickel brought his usual blunt-force rhythm. The Knecht Kick, powerslam offense, and repeated heavy strikes gave him several believable chances to close. Fenwick Grimbough’s involvement added instability, but the match still came down to Jasper continuing to answer rather than fading.

Jasper Fang’s performance stood out because of how often he survived those pressure points. He kept returning to the Gutwrench Suplex, stiff kicks, and power offense, and by the late stages he had made the match uncomfortable for Belsnickel.

The finish, with Jasper catching Belsnickel after the attempted rulebook interference went wrong, gave the result a meaningful edge. It was not clean in atmosphere, but it was clear in consequence.

What it showed: Jasper Fang can survive a veteran-style grind and still find the finish when the match turns messy.

Featured Match Observation

Ironfang vs Niven Snake

Ironfang’s second win over Niven Snake was one of the clearer Polar statements of the week, but the match also gave Niven more to take from the loss than the result line suggests.

Ironfang controlled large portions with power. He used throws, suplexes, and repeated pin attempts to keep Niven reacting. The Wolf Pack again played a role, especially early, but the match changed when Niven fought back at ringside and temporarily took them out of the picture.

That stretch mattered. Without the Wolf Pack immediately available, Niven had his best run of the two-night pairing. He landed stronger offense, forced Ironfang to absorb punishment, and briefly made the match feel less like a numbers game.

Ironfang still found his way back. Once the match stretched into the later minutes, his power advantage returned, and the Sitout Bomb finish gave him a second straight win over Niven.

What it showed: Ironfang’s momentum is real, but Niven Snake showed more resistance in the rematch and forced a tougher path than the first result suggested.

Closing

The clearest Mythic development this week was reversal of momentum.

Last week, Takuma Ryujin had the stronger read coming out of his matches with Heracles. In Dunkirk, Heracles changed that conversation quickly. Two wins over Takuma, both by pinfall, gave Heracles the strongest singles rebound of the week. The first win came after a competitive 17-minute match, while the second was shorter and more direct. That combination matters. Heracles did not just steal one back. He swept the week.

Dragon King also left Dunkirk in better position than he entered it. His first win over Prince Charming came after a long, competitive match. His second came by count-out, which limits the ceiling of the result, but still gives him a clean two-night advantage. Black Knight’s two victories over Tin Man followed a similar pattern, with both matches showing enough structure to make the sweep meaningful.

The Mythic tag picture was more complex. Lion and Scarecrow moved from a 30-minute draw with Kaminari Hono to a decisive win the next night, which gives them one of the strongest upward movements of the week. The Dread Knights also handled Gods of War twice, including a longer main event win on Night 2, putting them in a strong position even if the matches were filled with the kind of ringside influence that follows Myrrden the Hollow.

In Vancouver, the Polar division leaned harder into interference and physical survival. Moon Silver defeated Bella Aurelia twice, but both results were tied closely to Wolf Pack involvement. That does not erase the wins, but it shapes how they should be read. Ironfang’s two victories over Niven Snake were stronger overall, especially because the second match forced Ironfang to keep fighting after Niven briefly neutralized the Wolf Pack.

Jasper Fang and Belsnickel split results, leaving that pairing unsettled. Jasper’s first-night win was the stronger match, while Belsnickel’s second-night response prevented the week from fully tilting away from him.

The Polar tag division remains active. Ultimate Beasts defeated the Reindeer Coalition twice, with the second win coming much faster and more decisively. Meanwhile, the River Reapers and Howlers went from a 30-minute draw to a River Reapers win, giving Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer the cleaner final statement.

Overall, this was a week where several rematches clarified direction. Heracles, Dragon King, Black Knight, the Dread Knights, Ironfang, Moon Silver, Ultimate Beasts, and the River Reapers all left with something tangible. Others left with questions still attached.

House shows don’t crown champions—but they do reveal who’s ready.

IMPORTANT NOTE - There are no House Shows from May 18th to 24th.  They are preempted for Wrestlefest Victoria Day and Mythic Division Supershow 001.  I will be back on the 27th.
