The Adventures of Negropolis and Madman Mason (and Flippers too!) Episode 16 - The Date

The Adventures of Negropolis and Madman Mason (and Flippers too!) - Episode 16: The Date

NPCW’s most chaotic tag team is about to face their biggest challenge yet—but while Negropolis is dead set on training for their match against the champions, Madman Mason has other plans…

Romance. Dinner. Flippers in a bow tie?!

With Ace MacDougal struggling to keep peace in the Misfits’ ranks, Mason sets off on an unforgettable night—armed with questionable fashion choices, his trusty emotional support penguin, and an ego too big to fail.

But will Mason’s dream date actually go smoothly? Or will Negropolis’ warnings prove hilariously true?

One thing’s for sure:

When Mason’s involved… ANYTHING CAN GO WRONG.

Scene 1: The Hotel Suite—Where Plans Collide

The scene opens in the Misfits of Mayhem’s hotel suite, a space meant for relaxation but currently overrun with very different priorities.

On one side of the room, Negropolis sits hunched over his laptop, eyes glued to match footage of the NPCW Tag Team Champions, The Polar Bears. Every replay of their matches is analyzed, every movement scrutinized.

Across the room, Ace MacDougal lounges comfortably, remote in hand, deeply engrossed in the battle cries of Braveheart playing on the TV. He nods solemnly as the warriors charge, looking as if he could leap into battle alongside them.

And then, amidst all this focus and intensity, stands Madman Mason in front of the mirror, primping like he’s getting ready for a Hollywood premiere.

He adjusts the collar of his fancy suit, slicks back his unruly hair, and smooths out the wrinkles—all while Flippers, his emotional support penguin, sits at his feet, blinking adorably and watching the preparation process like a loyal companion.

Negropolis glances up from his laptop, spotting Mason’s ridiculous efforts and raising an eyebrow.

“Why are you in that getup, Mason?”

Mason grins at his reflection, turning dramatically. “Well, Neggie, I have a date tonight! And I want to look my best.”

Negropolis snaps his head toward him, eyes wide.

“A DATE?! A DATE?!” He stands, pointing aggressively at the laptop screen. “You fool! We should be training for the upcoming match against the Polar Bears, not GALAVANTING around town like an absolute buffoon!”

Ace, without even looking away from Braveheart, chimes in with a hearty laugh.

“Now, Negropolis—all work and no play will turn Mason into… well, you.”

Negropolis narrows his eyes at Ace, who is grinning from ear to ear.

“It’s called DEDICATION, you dolts!” Negropolis scowls, arms crossed. “If people actually took their craft seriously—”

Mason, completely ignoring the speech, picks up Flippers and starts wrapping a tiny bow tie around the penguin’s neck.

Negropolis blinks, horrified. “…What are you doing with the vermin?”

Mason shoots a sharp glare at Negropolis, hugging Flippers protectively. “Getting him ready for the date, of course.”

Negropolis stares for a moment, then erupts into uncontrollable laughter, doubling over as he tries to process what he just heard.

“You… YOU’RE TAKING HIM WITH YOU?! BWAHAHAHAHA!”

Negropolis is practically crying. Mason crosses his arms, unimpressed as his tag partner loses his mind over the sheer absurdity of the situation.

“You know,” Negropolis chokes out, “the restaurant won’t LET the vermin in, right?!”

Mason huffs, putting Flippers down and glaring directly into Negropolis’s smug face.

“He is my emotional support penguin! See?!”

Mason proudly holds up a certificate, signed by Dr. Frankenstein, officially declaring Flippers as an emotional support animal.

Negropolis stares at the paper, blinking slowly, before breaking into another fit of laughter.

Ace, chuckling, finally steps in to restore order.

“Now, now, boys—Mason, you and Flippers go have a nice time. But don’t stay out too late, alright? Negropolis does have a point—we need to train for this weekend’s match.”

Mason grins, picking up Flippers once more. “Don’t worry, I’ll be back by Flippers’ bedtime at 10 PM!”

With that, he marches toward the door, proudly stepping out with Flippers in tow, ready for his grand adventure.

Negropolis leans back in his chair, shaking his head in pure disbelief.

Ace, grinning, glances at him. “You know, Neggie—you could be out having fun too, if you’d just take off that mask…”

Negropolis turns his head slowly, glaring at Ace with unwavering seriousness. He taps his face deliberately, voice grave and determined.

“Dedication to kayfabe. Dedication.”

Ace snorts, turning his attention back to Braveheart.

The scene fades, leaving Negropolis staring at his laptop as Mason embarks on a date that is sure to go off the rails.

Scene 2: The Restaurant—A Chaotic Display of Charm

The bustling Chez Blizzarde is the height of upscale dining—crystal chandeliers, velvet-lined chairs, and servers who move with the precision of trained swordsmen. It is the kind of place that screams elegance, a sanctuary where refinement reigns supreme.

Until Madman Mason and his emotional support penguin, Flippers, arrive.

As the restaurant doors swing open, Mason strides in with the confidence of a man about to seal the deal, dressed in a sharp suit, hair perfectly gelled, exuding misplaced sophistication. At his side, Flippers waddles proudly, bowtie askew but adorable nonetheless, ready for an evening of fine dining.

Standing at the entrance, arms folded with extreme disapproval, is the Maitre’D, Chillippe DuFrôst, a man whose entire soul seems dedicated to turning people away for the slightest infractions.

Chillippe eyes the duo with immediate suspicion, his thick French accent dripping with snobbery.

“May I help you?”

Mason nods eagerly, scanning the room. “Yes, I have a date here—I see her over there waiting!”

He and Flippers make their move, marching toward the table, but Chillippe swoops in, blocking their path like a defensive lineman.

“I am sorry, monsieur, but zat thing”—he gestures dramatically at Flippers“cannot enter zis establishment.”

Mason narrows his eyes, towering over the frail yet stubborn maître d’, a glower creeping onto his face.

“This is my emotional support penguin, Flippers. Where I go—HE GOES.”

With great ceremony, Mason whips out the certificate, holding it up as if presenting a divine decree.

Chillippe eyes the document, then Flippers, who—offended at the slight—fluffs his tiny wings and lets out an indignant chirp.

Chillippe looks back up at Mason, now realizing this is not a battle he can win. His eyes widen in defeat, his smile faltering.

“Ah… I see… Of course, monsieur. Please follow me.”

The moment of victory secured, Mason struts past Chillippe, with Flippers waddling proudly alongside him, as if this battle for restaurant recognition had been won against the odds.

Across the restaurant, Edie watches the entire ordeal unfold, her face a fascinating mixture of amusement and sheer disbelief.

But as Mason and Flippers approach, their infectious smiles immediately put her at ease.

First Impressions & Fancy Dining

Mason extends a hand, shaking hers with exaggerated enthusiasm before carefully placing Flippers into a high chair, adjusting the bowtie as if Flippers was about to negotiate international trade agreements.

Chillippe raises an eyebrow but presses on professionally.

“A drink to start you off?”

Mason nods confidently, gesturing dramatically at Flippers. “Flippers will take water.”

He then turns to Edie, who—still recovering from the spectacle at the entrance—simply nods toward her wine glass, signaling for another pour.

“More wine for the lady! And I’ll take a beer.”

Chillippe nods stiffly, muttering something vaguely French under his breath, before scurrying off like he never wants to deal with Mason ever again.

Mason turns back to Edie, flashing his best smile.

“Edie, you look lovely tonight.”

Edie laughs, raising an eyebrow. “Well, Jack, you clean up surprisingly well in a suit. And Flippers… well, he looks adorable. Though, I am surprised you actually brought him with you.”

As if on cue, Flippers chirps enthusiastically, puffing out his chest as if accepting an award for Best Dinner Guest.

The waiter arrives, setting down their drinks and taking their orders.

  • Flippers: Fresh salmon (Because Flippers demands only the best.)
  • Edie: The house special (Because she is a sensible adult.)
  • Mason: Two steaks.

If Negropolis had he been here, would have immediately burst into laughter at the sheer ridiculousness of the order, but Mason remains serious, nodding as if his decision was a perfectly reasonable one.

Winning Her Over

The date progresses smoothly—to everyone’s shock.

Mason leans in, his usual chaotic energy subdued, exuding an uncharacteristic sincerity.

“Well, I brought Flippers because he’s my emotional support penguin… and I was a little nervous meeting you.”

Edie smiles warmly, blushing slightly at the unexpected sweetness of the statement.

“That’s… actually really sweet.”

Flippers coos in approval, apparently very pleased with Mason’s line delivery.

As the meal progresses, Mason’s charm works wonders, the conversation flowing effortlessly.

  • Edie talks about her work as a vet, describing her love for animals, which Flippers enthusiastically chirps along to.
  • Mason shares stories from his wrestling career, grinning with pride (and skillfully omitting all the losses).
  • The two debate favorite TV shows, with Mason passionately defending Saturday morning cartoons while Edie laughs, playfully mocking his choices.

By the time dessert arrives, the two are laughing like old friends, while Flippers contentedly nibbles on the last bit of salmon.

The Goodbye—Victory Sealed

Outside the restaurant, Mason walks Edie to her car, the glow of streetlights casting an almost cinematic air over the moment.

Edie pauses, turning to him.

“I had a really great time tonight.”

Mason, still riding the high of a shockingly successful date, grins ear to ear.

And then, it happens—Edie leans in and gives him a quick peck on the cheek.

Mason freezes, his brain short-circuiting, his heart practically exploding from his chest.

Edie, grinning, steps toward her car, waving playfully.

“See you soon, Jack.”

Mason stands motionless, absolutely bewildered at his victory.

His hands slowly move to his cheek, touching the sacred spot where the kiss landed.

A pause.

A deep breath.

And then—he leaps into the air, throwing both fists up like a triumphant warrior, shouting loud enough for the whole city to hear:

“FLIPPERS, SHE KISSED ME!”

Flippers, ever the supportive wingman, chirps joyfully in response.

And with that, Mason practically skips back toward the hotel, ready to brag to Negropolis until the end of time.
