Aired - July 31, 2026
(Black screen.)
(The sound of a heavy book opening.)
(Not cleanly. Not gently.)
(Old pages scrape against each other like bone over stone.)
(A candle ignites.)
(The flame burns blue for a moment… then deepens to red.)
(Ink crawls across parchment, but this time it does not form words.)
(It forms a crown.)
(Then an arrow.)
(Then a hand.)
(Then an oni mask.)
(A low choir begins. Beneath it, a war drum beats once.)
Voice-over:
“Once upon a time… they told you every kingdom needed a hero.”
(beat)
“They never told you heroes bleed.”
(The ink spreads faster now, swallowing the parchment edges.)
“They never told you crowns grow heavier.”
“They never told you stories change hands.”
(A bell tolls.)
(The screen flickers with torchlight.)
Voice-over:
“Here… legends do not rest.”
“They are tested.”
“They are broken.”
“They are remade.”
(The burning parchment folds inward, becoming a dark fairytale title card.)
NPCW: DARK FABLE
Voice-over:
“This is the MYTHIC Division.”
“Welcome… to DARK FABLE.”
SIGNATURE MONTAGE — QUARTER 3
1) King Arthur
(A sword is raised beneath a storm-black sky.)
Arthur stands alone in the ring, armor battered, breath steady, eyes forward.
The crowd roars around him, but he does not answer them.
An opponent charges.
Arthur turns, counters, and drives him down with royal certainty.
Another figure rises behind him.
Arthur meets him too.
The crown does not make him safe.
It makes him hunted.
But still…
The king stands.
2) Blonde Bombshells — Alice, Dorothy & Rapunzel
(Bright storybook light floods the screen.)
(Then the color sharpens into something dangerous.)
Alice moves first—quick, fluid, smiling as she slips through a strike and sends her opponent spinning.
Dorothy follows with perfect timing, cutting the escape off before it begins.
Then Rapunzel steps in.
Graceful.
Precise.
No wasted motion.
Three women stand together as the fallen opponent reaches for them and finds nothing.
A familiar dream.
A dangerous mirror.
A fairytale with sharper teeth.
3) Robin Hood
(An arrow cuts through darkness.)
(It strikes a hanging lantern, and green light spills across the ring.)
Robin Hood ducks beneath a wild swing by inches.
He answers instantly.
One shot to stagger.
One movement to shift position.
One clean finish to end the moment before his opponent understands it.
He rises with calm defiance and looks toward the hard camera.
Not a prince.
Not a servant.
Not a man waiting for permission.
A thief.
A hero.
A problem no king can tax away.
4) The King’s Hand
(A gauntleted hand closes around a royal seal.)
(The wax cracks.)
The Sheriff of Nottingham steps through torchlight, cold authority in every movement.
Will Scarlet strikes beside him, violence wrapped in loyalty and resentment.
The King’s Collectors close in after them.
No chaos.
No wasted cruelty.
Only enforcement.
A man is dragged down.
Another is silenced.
Another is left staring up at the lights while the Hand of power tightens around the ring.
The law has arrived.
And mercy was never written into it.
5) Crimson Viper — The Queen of Hearts
(Red roses bloom across black parchment.)
(One by one, the petals fall.)
Crimson Viper stands motionless as her opponent circles.
Then she smiles.
A trap springs.
A strike lands.
A body folds.
She moves like a sentence already passed, turning panic into punishment.
The Queen of Hearts does not chase control.
She assumes it.
And when the final blow lands, there is no rage in her eyes.
Only judgment.
6) Monster Bash’s Enforcers — Kong & Ogre
(Chains drag across stone.)
(The sound becomes a heartbeat.)
Kong surges forward and crushes an opponent into the corner with impossible force.
Ogre follows, lifting another body high before driving it down with brutal finality.
No pageantry.
No speeches.
No warning.
Tag made simple.
Power made sacred.
Two bodies fall.
Two monsters remain.
Kong and Ogre stand over the wreckage, gold and violence bound together.
The Enforcers do not protect a throne.
They make sure no one survives long enough to challenge it.
7) Raigen the Maryu
(Red and gold flame cuts across the screen.)
(A dragon’s shadow coils behind it.)
Raigen stands in the center of the ring, still as a blade before the strike.
His opponent rushes him.
Raigen erupts.
A brutal combination lands in flashes—strike, turn, impact, silence.
The old storm is gone.
Something darker has taken its place.
He lowers one hand.
The air around him seems to burn.
This is not Raigen returning.
This is Raigen becoming.
The Maryu has awakened.
8) Blood Oni Syndicate — Lord Kurogami, Kaen, Enrai & Yurei Rinn
(The screen fades to black again.)
(A single red mask appears.)
(Then another.)
(Then another.)
(Lord Kurogami stands in shadow, unmoving, his presence heavier than sound.)
Kaen steps through firelight, fists clenched, eyes burning with violent purpose.
Enrai follows beneath a flash of white-blue lightning, calm and lethal.
Yurei Rinn appears last, ghostlike, silent, her stare fixed on something the audience cannot see.
Four figures.
One shadow.
The ring becomes a ritual space.
The Syndicate does not enter stories.
It infects them.
And when Lord Kurogami raises one hand…
The darkness answers.
(The choir rises.)
(War drums thunder beneath it.)
(The arena appears, lit like a cathedral built for judgment.)
Voice-over:
“This isn’t the North.”
“This isn’t the light.”
(beat)
“This is where crowns are tested.”
“Where heroes are hunted.”
“Where monsters wear gold.”
“And where every victory leaves a scar.”
(The music drops.)
(Only the bell remains.)
Voice-over:
“In DARK FABLE… the story does not end happily.”
(beat)
“It ends… with a winner.”
(A final image flashes: crown, arrow, rose, chain, dragon flame, oni mask.)
Voice-over:
“And in Quarter Three…”
(beat)
“The story belongs to whoever is strong enough to take it.”
(The bell tolls one final time.)
Voice-over:
“This… is DARK FABLE.”
The darkness of the opening gives way to the thunderous interior of Scrooge’s Camelot Coliseum.
Torchlight burns along the upper balconies. Blue-and-gold illumination moves across ancient stone walls, hanging shields, and weathered banners. The ring rests beneath a single white light while thousands rise throughout the coliseum.
The camera passes through a section filled with pale lanterns and plain white masks. Black cloth twists beneath painted images of mist, grave markers, and reaching hands as supporters of Yurei Rinn stand in near silence.
Across the aisle, iron hunting blades are raised beneath the image of a shattered oven door. Supporters of Gretel strike the blades against wooden shields and answer the silence with a steady chant.
“GRETEL!”
“GRETEL!”
“GRETEL!”
The two sections glare across the coliseum.
White mist spills across one side.
Furnace-red light burns across the other.
The camera moves onward.
A plain black mask appears upon the central screen.
The crowd reaction changes immediately.
The mask turns slowly until a thin red thread becomes visible along its inner edge.
The image is consumed by blue-white lightning.
Taro Okami appears on one side of the screen.
Kaen appears on the other.
Behind Kaen, the red insignia of the Blood Oni Syndicate spreads across the darkness. Behind Taro Okami, the image remains empty.
No crest.
No faction.
Only the man.
A row of supporters raises red-and-white banners bearing the name of Taro Okami. Across from them, clenched fists rise beneath the fire-marked image of Kaen.
The screen changes again.
Green light moves across the entranceway.
Ancient scales form over the stage screen, each one carrying the carved image of a dragon, serpent, or forgotten beast. Supporters of the Scalekeepers raise bronze shields shaped like overlapping plates.
A dark sword strikes through the image.
The scales fracture.
The cracked crown of the Broken Crown appears.
Black banners rise throughout the lower bowl for Sir Agravaine and the Black Knight.
The crowd responds with hostility.
The image of Sir Agravaine forms beside the armored silhouette of the Black Knight. Behind them stand the shadows of Myrrden, Mordred, and the Dread Knights.
The fractured crown closes around them.
Then the central screen fills with an iron hammer.
One strike lands.
The image bends.
Another strike lands.
The hammer remains.
Blue sand begins falling over it.
Supporters of John Henry pound their fists against the barricade in a heavy rhythm.
Hammer against iron.
Hammer against iron.
Across the coliseum, the followers of Sandman raise dark blue cloth beneath painted moons and closed eyes. Fine sand descends from the upper balcony and disappears before reaching the crowd below.
The hammer and the falling sand remain together upon the screen.
Neither image consumes the other.
A ceremonial trumpet cuts through the building.
The blue-and-gold crest of Camelot rises.
The Mythic Crown Championship appears beneath it.
The crowd becomes sharply divided.
The image of King Arthur forms beneath the crown.
Opposite him, white marble columns rise through gathering clouds. A lion skin falls across broad shoulders. A great wooden club strikes the stone floor.
The face of Heracles appears.
The reaction becomes thunderous.
The final image forms above the ring.
Three strands of gold weave together across the central screen.
The championship plates of the North Star Tag Team Championship emerge beneath them.
The Blonde Bombshells stand on one side.
The image opposite them becomes a dark chapel beneath a moonless sky. Black stained glass cracks outward. Candle flames burn along an altar as the insignia of the Black Chapel appears.
The championships remain between the two teams.
At ringside, Julian Ward and Brick Brody sit behind the commentary desk as the camera settles upon them.
Julian Ward: “Good evening, and welcome to NPCW Dark Fable, live from Scrooge’s Camelot Coliseum. I am Julian Ward, joined as always by Brick Brody, and tonight we gather beneath a kingdom which was promised order one week ago.”
Brick Brody: “Promised, declared, decreed, and announced with enough ceremony to make every stone in this building stand at attention.”
Julian Ward: “Yet seven days later, the questions beneath that decree remain unanswered.”
Brick Brody: “That is because declarations do not remove dangerous people, Julian Ward. They tell dangerous people exactly where the man making the declaration intends to stand.”
The stage screen returns to footage from one week ago.
John Henry lifts the Black Knight high above the canvas.
The armored body is thrown across the ring with Iron Collision.
The count reaches three.
The footage changes.
Sandman stands upon the entrance ramp beneath falling blue sand, watching without expression as John Henry rises from repeated Powerbombs, Knight’s Fall, and the impossible movement of the Black Knight.
Julian Ward: “One week ago, John Henry endured nineteen minutes against the Black Knight. He survived repeated Powerbombs, aerial attacks from a man concealed beneath armor, and Knight’s Fall before overwhelming him with sustained force.”
Brick Brody: “The Black Knight threw everything at him. Powerbombs. Superkicks. That Moonsault DDT that no man dressed like a fortress should be able to perform. John Henry absorbed all of it and kept reaching for him.”
The screen shows John Henry delivering the final Iron Collision.
Julian Ward: “But the victory was observed from the entranceway by Sandman.”
The footage moves backstage.
Blue sand falls between John Henry and Sandman as they stand face-to-face.
Sandman speaks of exhaustion.
John Henry catches his wrist before the sand can be thrown.
Alton Bell steps between them.
The words appear upon the screen.
A third match.
One fall.
No ambiguity.
Julian Ward: “Alton Bell prevented their confrontation from becoming physical and made tonight’s match official. John Henry faces Sandman for the third time.”
Brick Brody: “And the first two belong to Sandman.”
The screen shows Sandman trapping Lion in the Sleeper later that same evening.
The hand of Lion strikes the arm.
The bell rings after only two minutes.
Julian Ward: “Sandman reinforced that warning by defeating Lion in only two minutes. Lion controlled the opening exchange. He stopped the first kick, cut off the ring, and approached with discipline. None of it mattered once the Sleeper closed.”
Brick Brody: “That is why this third match is different from everything John Henry normally faces. A machine announces the struggle. Steel bends. Gears break. The body knows where the force is coming from. Sandman waits until the body has spent everything and then takes away consciousness.”
Julian Ward: “John Henry says pain is not defeat. Tonight, he must prove that exhaustion is not surrender.”
Brick Brody: “He has proved he can keep standing. Now he has to prove he can stay awake.”
The hammer on the screen disappears beneath blue sand.
Footage from the debut of the Fairest Hunters appears.
Gretel drives Hydra Veyne down with the K-360.
Snow White throws Medussa Nemesis with the Kiss of Life.
The images change rapidly.
Repeated Sharpshooters.
Two Petrify Piledrivers.
A Spear.
A German Suplex into the Spinning Back Fist.
The Diving Guillotine Leg Drop crashes across the throat of Gretel.
The count reaches three.
Julian Ward: “The debut of the Fairest Hunters also ended beneath consequence. Snow White and Gretel displayed immediate coordination, but the Monsters of Myth isolated Gretel for nearly the entire twenty-four-minute contest.”
Brick Brody: “That was not a match by the end. It was captivity. Gretel spent the night reaching toward Snow White while Hydra Veyne and Medussa Nemesis dragged her back into the center.”
Julian Ward: “She endured two Piledrivers, repeated submissions, Spears, suplexes, and coordinated attacks before the Diving Guillotine Leg Drop ended the match.”
Brick Brody: “And now she comes back one week later against Yurei Rinn. No partner waiting in the corner. No Snow White to reach toward. Only a woman who prefers silence because silence makes suffering easier to hear.”
The image of Yurei Rinn forms within white mist.
She stands motionless beneath the red mask of the Blood Oni Syndicate.
Opposite her, Gretel raises a hunting blade.
Julian Ward: “Yurei Rinn does not bring the physical size of Medussa Nemesis or the speed of Hydra Veyne. She brings something more difficult to measure. Patience. Silence. And the willingness to allow an opponent’s fear to complete what her offense begins.”
Brick Brody: “Gretel has survived witches, monsters, and twenty-four minutes of being trapped in the wrong corner. But survival becomes dangerous when a wrestler starts believing it guarantees the next victory.”
Julian Ward: “For Gretel, tonight is an opportunity to answer the defeat of the Fairest Hunters. For Yurei Rinn, it is an opportunity to strengthen the shadow already surrounding the Blood Oni Syndicate.”
The white mist closes around both women.
The plain black mask returns.
Footage shows Hana Nakamura holding it inside a clear evidence bag.
Taro Okami stands beside her.
Julian Ward: “That shadow became more difficult to interpret when Taro Okami was confronted about the black mask found beside his equipment.”
The footage shows Taro Okami denying that the mask belonged to him.
He identifies division as its purpose.
He names Kaen, Enrai, Yurei Rinn, and Lord Kurogami as different instruments beneath one design.
Brick Brody: “He gave an intelligent answer. That does not make it the correct one.”
Julian Ward: “Taro Okami argued that the mask had been planted by the Blood Oni Syndicate to divide him from Raigen before their alliance could become more difficult to defeat.”
The footage shows Raigen entering the interview area with the Eternal Flame Championship across his shoulder.
He asks whether Taro Okami can be trusted.
Taro Okami answers yes.
The screen displays the final exchange.
Trust requires proof.
Then I will provide it.
Do not provide it through words.
I did not intend to.
Julian Ward: “Raigen accepted the word of Taro Okami for the moment. He did not offer complete trust. He offered an opportunity to prove it.”
Brick Brody: “And then somebody wearing the same kind of mask attacked the challenger in the championship match.”
The footage changes.
Masa Tanenaga stands outside the ring during the second fall of the Eternal Flame Championship match.
A masked figure rises from behind the spectators.
The kendo stick crashes across the back of Masa Tanenaga.
He collapses beside the barricade.
Inside the ring, Raigen remains unaware.
The count reaches ten.
Julian Ward: “Raigen earned the first fall against Masa Tanenaga by converting the Armbar into a pinning combination. The second fall was decided when a masked assailant struck Masa Tanenaga with a kendo stick outside the ring.”
Brick Brody: “The champion did not see it. The referee did not see it. But the attack gave Raigen the count-out and preserved a two-fall victory.”
The image freezes upon the masked figure standing among the spectators.
The red thread inside the mask catches the light.
Then the footage shows Lord Kurogami, Kaen, and Enrai standing upon the stage.
Julian Ward: “The appearance of the Blood Oni Syndicate immediately after the attack deepened the suspicion without answering it. Lord Kurogami offered no admission. Kaen smiled. Enrai remained unreadable.”
Brick Brody: “And Taro Okami was nowhere near the ring.”
Julian Ward: “Tonight, speculation becomes confrontation. Taro Okami faces Kaen.”
The stage screen divides.
Taro Okami stands beneath cold white light.
Kaen stands beneath rising flame.
Brick Brody: “Good. Stop examining fabric and start examining the men involved. Put Taro Okami in the ring with the angriest member of the Blood Oni Syndicate and see what the body reveals.”
Julian Ward: “For Taro Okami, victory would not prove who wore the mask. But his conduct against Kaen may reveal whether his actions remain consistent with the trust he has asked Raigen to extend.”
Brick Brody: “And Kaen does not care about proving innocence. He wants to punish the man who interfered when Kaminari Hono attempted to destroy Raigen.”
Julian Ward: “One man seeks proof through action. The other seeks satisfaction through violence.”
Brick Brody: “Violence is easier to verify.”
The two images collide.
Flame consumes the screen.
The cracked crown appears through the fire.
Footage shows the Black Knight being thrown by John Henry.
The image changes to Sir Agravaine standing beside Myrrden and the Dread Knights after the Round Table survived their assault.
Julian Ward: “The Broken Crown also enters tonight attempting to restore momentum. The Black Knight returns after his defeat to John Henry, this time beside Sir Agravaine.”
Brick Brody: “That is a dangerous combination. Sir Agravaine brings bitterness with discipline. The Black Knight brings armor, strength, and movement that should not exist inside the same body.”
Ancient green scales form opposite them.
The symbol of the Scalekeepers spreads across the screen.
Julian Ward: “They face the Scalekeepers, guardians who do not view ancient creatures as monsters to be destroyed or weapons to be controlled. Their purpose is preservation, balance, and protection of forces older than the courts attempting to claim them.”
Brick Brody: “That sounds noble until Sir Agravaine drives one of them onto the back of the neck. The Broken Crown is not interested in balance. It wants bodies willing to kneel and bodies unable to stand.”
Julian Ward: “The Scalekeepers enter as a united order. Sir Agravaine and the Black Knight enter beneath a court constructed from grievance, failed inheritance, and war against Camelot.”
Brick Brody: “Then we will find out which faith survives contact.”
The scales close around the cracked crown.
For a moment, both symbols remain visible.
Then a ceremonial bell sounds.
The stage screen fills with the blue-and-gold crest of Camelot.
Footage from one week ago shows King Arthur standing inside the ring with the Mythic Crown Championship across his shoulder.
The symbols of the Blood Oni Syndicate, Monster Bash, the Broken Crown, Nottingham, and Sherwood circle the crest.
Julian Ward: “Following the masked attack, King Arthur entered the ring and issued a sweeping decree over the Mythic Division.”
The words of the champion appear across the screen.
No masks.
No ambushes.
No borrowed sceptres.
No corrupted knights.
No monsters believing fear has made them sovereign.
Every power will stand within the same light.
Brick Brody: “The king finally said what needed to be said. This division has too many private wars, too many self-appointed rulers, and too many men hiding behind masks, laboratories, or ancient grievances.”
The footage shows Merlin stepping beside the champion.
Order is not silence.
Loyalty is not the absence of question.
A kingdom does not become secure merely because every voice beneath the throne has learned to whisper.
Julian Ward: “But Merlin offered a warning. Order may protect a kingdom, but authority must continue examining itself.”
Brick Brody: “That is excellent advice for a quiet room. The problem is that enemies rarely wait politely while a king examines himself.”
The image changes to the main event.
Ares drives King Arthur down across the neck.
Zeus raises his staff and lightning explodes against the ring post.
King Arthur answers with the King’s Decree.
Then another.
The Short-Arm Clothesline turns Ares inside out.
The count reaches three.
Julian Ward: “King Arthur then defended the authority of his words by defeating Ares. He survived attacks to the neck and back, the direct violence of the god of war, and interference from Zeus before reversing the final Backbreaker attempt and delivering the Short-Arm Clothesline.”
Brick Brody: “The decree survived its first test.”
Julian Ward: “Tonight, however, the champion faces a different force from Olympus.”
White-gold light spreads over the stage.
The image of Heracles appears beneath marble columns.
A lion skin rests across his shoulders.
A club strikes the earth.
The image of King Arthur forms opposite him.
The Mythic Crown Championship remains above them, but a line of text appears beneath the graphic.
NON-TITLE MATCH.
Julian Ward: “The Mythic Crown Championship will not be defended when King Arthur faces Heracles. But no contest involving the reigning champion can be separated completely from the crown he carries.”
Brick Brody: “Especially when the opponent is Heracles. This is not a politician, a rogue, or a bitter knight trying to make a point. This is strength made legendary.”
Julian Ward: “Heracles does not carry the uncontrolled appetite for war shown by Ares. His legend is built upon impossible labor, punishment, endurance, and the defeat of creatures believed beyond mortal strength.”
Brick Brody: “Which means King Arthur cannot dismiss him as another enemy of order. Heracles does not need a throne. He does not need a faction. He only needs to prove that the man wearing the crown is not the strongest man in the ring.”
Julian Ward: “For King Arthur, victory would reinforce the authority he declared one week ago. Defeat would provide every faction named in that decree with evidence that the king may be challenged without touching the championship.”
Brick Brody: “That is the danger of non-title matches. The belt may be safe, but the reputation carrying it is not.”
The club of Heracles strikes the crest of Camelot.
The image fractures but does not fall.
Golden strands descend over the damage.
The North Star Tag Team Championship appears.
Footage shows Rapunzel reversing the Gorgon Clutch of Athena and locking in the Cobra Clutch.
Athena submits.
Julian Ward: “The Blonde Bombshells enter tonight with further momentum after Rapunzel defeated Athena by submission one week ago.”
Brick Brody: “Rapunzel took everything Athena had. Wisdom’s Wrath. The Backbreaker. The Sleeper Slam. The Spear. Even the low strike the referee missed. Then she turned the submission around and made the warrior of Olympus surrender.”
The three golden strands weave together.
The championship plates shine between them.
The light suddenly dims.
The strands become tangled in black thorns.
A chapel bell rings.
The insignia of the Black Chapel spreads across the screen.
Julian Ward: “But tonight’s main event concerns more than individual momentum. The Blonde Bombshells defend the North Star Tag Team Championship against the Black Chapel.”
Brick Brody: “Light, color, and storybook heroism against doctrine, punishment, and women who believe suffering reveals truth.”
Julian Ward: “The Blonde Bombshells have succeeded through trust, speed, timing, and the ability to change roles without losing their shared rhythm.”
Brick Brody: “And the Black Chapel does not intend to match that rhythm. It intends to break it. Separate one champion. Keep the other outside. Turn every attempted rescue into another opportunity for punishment.”
The championship graphic darkens.
Candle flames burn along its edges.
Julian Ward: “The champions enter carrying the expectations of every victory that placed those titles around their waists. The challengers enter believing that joy, loyalty, and hope are weaknesses waiting to be disciplined.”
Brick Brody: “Championships do not care which side has the better story. They remain with whoever survives the final count.”
The camera pulls back from the commentary desk.
The ring stands beneath white light.
Around it, the competing colors of the night divide the coliseum.
White mist and iron fire.
Green scales and a cracked crown.
Blue sand and hammered steel.
The gold of Camelot and the white light of Olympus.
Golden strands and the darkness of the Black Chapel.
Julian Ward: “Six contests await us. Gretel returns from the punishing debut of the Fairest Hunters to face Yurei Rinn. Taro Okami confronts Kaen while the question of the black mask continues to divide every figure surrounding the Eternal Flame Championship.”
The stage screen displays the match images in sequence.
Julian Ward: “The Scalekeepers face Sir Agravaine and the Black Knight. The reigning Mythic Crown Champion, King Arthur, meets Heracles in a non-title contest.”
The hammer and blue sand return.
Julian Ward: “John Henry attempts to end two previous defeats when he faces Sandman for the third time.”
The North Star Tag Team Championship fills the screen.
Julian Ward: “And in tonight’s main event, the Blonde Bombshells defend the North Star Tag Team Championship against the Black Chapel.”
Brick Brody: “Last week, the king promised order. Tonight, every match asks the same question.”
Julian Ward: “What question is that?”
Brick Brody: “Whether order survives once the bell rings.”
A heavy bell sounds once.
The arena lights begin to lower.
White mist spreads across the entranceway.
A solitary lantern appears upon the stage screen.
The shadow of Yurei Rinn forms behind it.
An iron hunting blade cuts through the image.
Gretel appears opposite her.
Julian Ward: “We begin with a survivor returning to the hunt against the silent hand of the Blood Oni Syndicate. Gretel faces Yurei Rinn.”
Brick Brody: “One woman escaped the oven. The other intends to place her inside a grave.”
The camera turns toward the ring, where Louie Linville steps into position beneath the gathering light.
3. MATCH 1
The camera returns to the ring inside Scrooge’s Camelot Coliseum.
The final image from the opening welcome remains upon the stage screen.
A solitary lantern burns within white mist.
Behind it stands the motionless shadow of Yurei Rinn.
An iron hunting blade cuts through the image.
The lantern shatters.
The lights inside the coliseum dim until only a pale strip remains across the entranceway.
A low wind passes through the building.
It carries the faint sound of distant temple bells.
One toll.
Then another.
The mist gathers across the stage floor.
A dark red mask appears upon the central screen. Its empty eyes remain fixed upon the ring as black ink spreads outward into the crest of the Blood Oni Syndicate.
Lord Kurogami steps through the mist.
He wears black ceremonial attire marked with restrained crimson details. His hands remain folded behind his back. He surveys the coliseum without acknowledging the hostility rising around him.
The bells stop.
Yurei Rinn emerges behind him.
The crowd responds with loud boos.
Her pale, dark-edged ring attire catches the narrow light as she moves. Long black hair falls around a face carrying no visible anger or excitement. She does not look toward the spectators.
Her attention is already upon the ring.
Julian Ward: “Our opening contest places Gretel against the most silent member of the Blood Oni Syndicate. Yurei Rinn rarely reveals intention before the moment of attack.”
Brick Brody: “That is because she does not waste time warning people. Kaen brings rage. Enrai brings calculation. Yurei Rinn brings the part where the room becomes quiet and somebody gets dropped on the head.”
Lord Kurogami begins walking down the ramp.
Yurei Rinn follows several steps behind him.
Neither reacts to the crowd.
At ringside, Lord Kurogami stops beside the corner post and turns toward the entranceway.
Yurei Rinn climbs onto the apron.
She steps between the ropes and moves to the center of the ring, where she lowers her head and waits.
The white mist fades.
A harsh iron strike breaks through the silence.
The central screen becomes a dark forest.
Bare branches twist around a narrow path. At the end of it stands a small house with fire burning through its windows.
An oven door slams shut.
The flames die.
A hunting blade tears through the image.
The crowd rises.
Gretel steps onto the stage.
She wears forest green, iron gray, and weathered brown wrestling gear marked by broken cages and extinguished fire. One side of her neck remains taped after the punishment she endured against the Monsters of Myth one week ago.
She looks toward Yurei Rinn.
Then toward Lord Kurogami.
Her expression hardens.
Julian Ward: “One week ago, Gretel spent nearly the entire twenty-four-minute match isolated from Snow White. She endured repeated Piledrivers, Sharpshooters, Spears, suplexes, and coordinated attacks before the debut of the Fairest Hunters ended in defeat.”
Brick Brody: “And now she has come back without asking for recovery time. That can be courage, or it can be a wrestler convincing herself that more punishment will erase the last punishment.”
Julian Ward: “Tonight, Gretel has no partner waiting for a tag. She must confront Yurei Rinn alone while remaining aware of Lord Kurogami at ringside.”
Brick Brody: “She should keep one eye on the quiet woman and the other on the quiet man. That leaves no eyes for the attack.”
Gretel begins walking down the ramp.
Supporters near the barricade strike wooden shields with iron hunting blades as she passes.
She does not acknowledge them.
At ringside, Gretel stops several feet from Lord Kurogami.
He gives her no reaction.
She climbs the steps and enters through the ropes.
Inside the ring, Gretel approaches the center.
Yurei Rinn raises her head.
The two women stand several feet apart.
Survivor against silence.
Hunter against shadow.
Louie Linville steps between them and raises the microphone.
Louie Linville: “Ladies and gentlemen, this opening contest is scheduled for one fall!”
The crowd responds loudly.
Louie Linville: “The referee assigned to this match is ‘Honest’ Abe.”
‘Honest’ Abe steps forward and looks toward Lord Kurogami, warning him to remain on the floor.
Louie Linville: “Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Lord Kurogami. The pale spirit of the Blood Oni Syndicate, the silence that follows the final breath, Yurei Rinn!”
Boos fill the coliseum.
Yurei Rinn remains motionless.
Lord Kurogami lowers his head slightly from ringside.
Louie Linville: “And her opponent, the hunter who survived the devouring dark, the iron will of the Fairest Hunters, Gretel!”
The crowd erupts.
Gretel raises one fist while keeping her eyes upon Yurei Rinn.
‘Honest’ Abe gives both competitors their final instructions.
Gretel lowers her stance.
Yurei Rinn takes one slow step forward.
The bell rings.
Minute 1
Yurei Rinn moves with sudden violence.
She catches Gretel around the waist before the hunter can establish distance, turns her upside down, and drops to both knees with a Tombstone.
The head and shoulders of Gretel strike the canvas.
The crowd reacts sharply.
Julian Ward: “A Tombstone in the opening exchange. Yurei Rinn has immediately attacked the same head and neck that endured two Piledrivers one week ago.”
Brick Brody: “That is not coincidence. Lord Kurogami watched what happened to Gretel last week. The damaged part has already been identified.”
Yurei Rinn reaches down to pull Gretel upright.
Gretel surges from one knee and drives a Pump Kick directly into the chest and jaw.
The force throws Yurei Rinn backward into the ropes.
Julian Ward: “A powerful Pump Kick from Gretel. She absorbs the more dangerous landing but refuses to allow Yurei Rinn to control the recovery.”
Brick Brody: “That kick was close. One woman landed on her head. The other nearly lost hers.”
Gretel presses one hand against the side of her neck.
Across the ring, Yurei Rinn steadies herself against the ropes.
Neither woman retreats from the next approach.
Minute 2
Yurei Rinn closes the distance and drives a series of short Elbow Strikes into the jaw and temple of Gretel.
The first turns the head.
The second forces Gretel toward the corner.
The third catches her as she attempts to answer.
Julian Ward: “Repeated Elbow Strikes from Yurei Rinn. She is denying Gretel the space required for another kick.”
Gretel catches the next arm.
She pulls Yurei Rinn across her shoulders, rolls forward, and drives her down with a Rolling Fireman’s Carry.
The crowd cheers.
Brick Brody: “That is the correct answer. Do not trade elbows with the ghost. Pick her up and make the floor interrupt.”
Julian Ward: “The Rolling Fireman’s Carry gives Gretel the stronger conclusion to the exchange. Yurei Rinn begins with precision, but Gretel converts the contact into a full-body landing.”
Gretel remains near her opponent and attempts to pull her away from the ropes.
Yurei Rinn rolls through the grip and rises before control can be maintained.
At ringside, Lord Kurogami watches without movement.
Minute 3
Yurei Rinn slips behind Gretel during the next approach.
One arm passes beneath the chin.
The other traps the wrist.
The Cobra Clutch closes.
Julian Ward: “The Cobra Clutch is secured. Yurei Rinn is controlling both the neck and one arm.”
Gretel widens her stance and tries to turn beneath the hold.
Yurei Rinn pulls backward and presses her weight between the shoulders.
Brick Brody: “That neck was already damaged before the bell. Every second inside this hold makes last week relevant again.”
Gretel forces herself sideways.
She creates a narrow opening, turns into Yurei Rinn, and drives another Pump Kick into the upper chest.
The hold breaks.
Yurei Rinn falls backward.
Julian Ward: “Gretel escapes through direct force. The Cobra Clutch created damage, but the Pump Kick prevents Yurei Rinn from deepening the control.”
Brick Brody: “That boot has become the emergency exit. The problem is that Yurei Rinn now knows where it is.”
Gretel rolls one shoulder and tests the movement in her neck.
Yurei Rinn rises more slowly but remains expressionless.
Minute 4
Yurei Rinn waits near the center and raises both hands, preparing for another close exchange.
Gretel does not offer one.
She steps forward and drives a third Pump Kick directly through the guard.
The strike catches Yurei Rinn beneath the jaw.
She falls flat onto the canvas.
Julian Ward: “Another Pump Kick from Gretel, and this time Yurei Rinn produces no answer.”
Brick Brody: “That was the cleanest strike of the match. Yurei Rinn expected the body. Gretel gave her the sole of the boot.”
Gretel follows and pulls Yurei Rinn away from the ropes.
She considers a cover but sees the pale competitor already turning toward one side.
Instead, Gretel grips the wrist and forces her upright.
Julian Ward: “Complete control for Gretel in the fourth minute. She has recognized that distance protects the neck while allowing the Pump Kick to remain effective.”
At ringside, Lord Kurogami gives one slow tap against the apron.
The sound is quiet.
Yurei Rinn hears it.
Her eyes rise toward Gretel.
Minute 5
Both women hesitate.
Gretel protects the neck.
Yurei Rinn keeps her distance from the kicking range.
Neither commits during the first approach.
The second ends with both competitors breaking contact before a grip can settle.
Julian Ward: “A defensive reset from both women. Each has recognized the danger created by the other’s preferred range.”
Brick Brody: “That means somebody is about to make the wrong decision.”
Yurei Rinn reaches for the arm.
Gretel spins away and throws a Spinning Heel Kick.
The heel catches Yurei Rinn near the temple, but the pale competitor falls with the arm still trapped.
She turns through the descent and extends it into a Cross Armbar.
Julian Ward: “The Spinning Heel Kick lands, but Yurei Rinn retains the arm and turns the fall into a Cross Armbar.”
Brick Brody: “That is excellent cruelty. Take the kick and make the leg attached to it watch while the arm bends.”
Gretel clasps her hands before the elbow can be fully extended.
She rolls toward Yurei Rinn, stacks the shoulders briefly, and forces the hold to loosen.
‘Honest’ Abe checks the position but no cover develops.
Julian Ward: “The greater structural damage belongs to Yurei Rinn, but the strike from Gretel prevents complete control. Both women leave the exchange wounded.”
Minute 6
Yurei Rinn rises first and catches Gretel beneath one arm and behind the leg.
She lifts, turns, and drives her down with a Falcon Arrow.
The ring shakes.
Julian Ward: “The Falcon Arrow from Yurei Rinn. Another severe landing across the upper back and neck.”
Gretel rolls through the impact and rises behind her opponent.
Before Yurei Rinn can turn, Gretel traps one arm in a Half Nelson.
She powers the pale competitor backward with a Half Nelson Suplex.
Yurei Rinn crashes across the shoulders.
Brick Brody: “That was a violent answer. Gretel got planted and came back with enough strength to throw Yurei Rinn across the ring.”
Julian Ward: “The stronger attack belongs narrowly to Gretel. The Falcon Arrow caused significant damage, but the Half Nelson Suplex produces the heavier final landing.”
Both women remain down for several seconds.
‘Honest’ Abe begins a standing count.
“One!”
“Two!”
Gretel reaches one knee.
“Three!”
Yurei Rinn turns toward the ropes.
“Four!”
Both competitors rise.
Minute 7
Gretel forces Yurei Rinn toward the corner with a forearm across the upper chest.
She steps through the ropes and begins climbing the turnbuckles.
The crowd rises.
Julian Ward: “Gretel is ascending. She may be attempting the Frog Splash.”
Yurei Rinn lies near the center.
Gretel reaches the top rope.
She launches.
Yurei Rinn turns beneath the descent, catches one arm, and pulls Gretel across the body before impact can settle.
The flight is redirected.
Gretel crashes awkwardly onto the canvas.
Brick Brody: “Reversed. Gretel gave the ghost too much time to see the fall coming.”
Yurei Rinn moves behind her immediately.
The Cobra Clutch closes again.
Gretel attempts to pull at the hands.
She tries to turn.
The damaged neck prevents the movement from forming.
Julian Ward: “The Cobra Clutch is fully secured after the reversed Frog Splash. Gretel cannot create the same escape she found earlier.”
Yurei Rinn lowers her weight and drags Gretel toward the canvas.
Gretel remains standing but her knees begin to bend.
Brick Brody: “This is where the earlier Tombstone and Falcon Arrow become valuable. The neck has already carried too much.”
‘Honest’ Abe asks whether Gretel submits.
She refuses.
She reaches backward and catches the hair of Yurei Rinn, but releases before the referee begins a count.
Gretel throws herself toward the ropes.
Her fingertips reach the top strand.
‘Honest’ Abe calls for the break.
Yurei Rinn releases at four.
Julian Ward: “The ropes preserve the match, but the seventh minute belongs entirely to Yurei Rinn.”
Minute 8
Gretel leaves the ropes cautiously.
Yurei Rinn circles behind her and reaches again for the Cobra Clutch.
The arm passes beneath the chin.
Before the second hand can lock, Gretel turns her hips and traps the arm of Yurei Rinn.
She pulls the pale competitor backward and launches her with another Half Nelson Suplex.
The crowd erupts.
Julian Ward: “The Half Nelson Suplex breaks the Cobra Clutch before it can settle. Gretel has recognized the entry.”
Brick Brody: “That is adjustment. The first time, she fought the hold after it was locked. This time, she threw the woman before the hands met.”
Yurei Rinn lands hard but rolls toward one knee.
Gretel pulls her upright and considers another lift.
Yurei Rinn drives one hand against the damaged arm to create separation.
Julian Ward: “Both women produce significant offense, but the greater impact belongs to Gretel. She has turned the preferred hold of Yurei Rinn into an opportunity for the suplex.”
Lord Kurogami remains still at ringside.
His eyes follow the position of Gretel rather than the condition of Yurei Rinn.
Minute 9
Yurei Rinn raises her guard as Gretel advances.
Gretel spins through the opening and drives a Spinning Heel Kick across the side of the head.
Yurei Rinn attempts to raise both arms.
The heel breaks through and sends her falling toward the ropes.
Julian Ward: “The Spinning Heel Kick lands cleanly. Yurei Rinn anticipated the strike but could not prevent it.”
Brick Brody: “She saw the boot and still wore it.”
Gretel closes immediately.
She pulls Yurei Rinn away from the ropes and keeps one hand against the shoulder.
‘Honest’ Abe watches for a choke.
Gretel releases before a warning is required and steps back into kicking range.
Julian Ward: “Complete control for Gretel in the ninth minute. She is forcing Yurei Rinn to stand and react rather than allowing her to disappear into another hold.”
Yurei Rinn rises slowly.
For the first time, frustration appears in the movement.
Not upon her face.
In the speed with which she turns.
Minute 10
Yurei Rinn catches the arm as Gretel attempts another approach.
She drops to the canvas and locks in a second Cross Armbar.
The elbow is extended before Gretel can clasp her hands.
Julian Ward: “The Cross Armbar is secured again. This time, Gretel could not protect the elbow before extension.”
Gretel shifts her legs and attempts to roll through.
Yurei Rinn follows the movement and keeps the shoulder trapped.
Brick Brody: “That arm has already been bent once. The second application does not need as much time.”
Gretel refuses to submit.
She turns toward Yurei Rinn, stacks the body, and uses the compressed position to pull one arm free.
As Yurei Rinn rises, Gretel throws an Enzuigiri.
The heel catches her near the temple.
Both women fall.
Julian Ward: “The Enzuigiri creates the escape, but Gretel paid for it through the elbow. Yurei Rinn leaves the exchange with the greater damage.”
Brick Brody: “The kick saved the arm. It did not repair it.”
Gretel presses the damaged limb against her body.
Across the ring, Yurei Rinn sits upright and looks toward Lord Kurogami.
He takes one step closer to the apron.
Minute 11
Gretel forces herself upright near the ropes.
Yurei Rinn advances but does not attack immediately.
Lord Kurogami moves along the floor behind Gretel.
‘Honest’ Abe shifts toward the center to keep Yurei Rinn away from the ropes.
The movement gives Lord Kurogami the angle he needs.
He reaches through the lower strands with a length of dark cord.
The cord loops around the wrist and upper arm of Gretel.
He pulls sharply.
Gretel becomes trapped against the ropes.
The crowd erupts into boos.
Julian Ward: “Lord Kurogami has tied Gretel into the ropes.”
Brick Brody: “And ‘Honest’ Abe did not see the first movement.”
Gretel struggles to pull free.
The cord tightens around the damaged arm.
Yurei Rinn stands several feet away and watches.
She makes no attempt to strike while ‘Honest’ Abe turns toward the commotion.
‘Honest’ Abe sees Gretel tangled but not the hand responsible.
He moves toward the ropes and begins working at the cord.
Julian Ward: “The interference has not produced immediate offense for Yurei Rinn, but it has placed Gretel in a defenseless position and further strained the injured arm.”
Brick Brody: “That is not wasted time. Lord Kurogami has removed the hunter’s ability to attack and forced the referee to solve a problem he did not witness.”
Lord Kurogami steps away before ‘Honest’ Abe looks toward him.
His hands return behind his back.
Gretel remains trapped.
Minute 12
‘Honest’ Abe frees one section of the cord, but Gretel remains caught beneath the upper strand.
Yurei Rinn closes.
She drives repeated Elbow Strikes into the side of Gretel’s head.
The first snaps her face sideways.
The second catches the jaw.
The third lands against the temple.
Julian Ward: “Yurei Rinn is striking a defenseless opponent while Gretel remains caught in the ropes.”
Brick Brody: “That is why Lord Kurogami did not need to attack her himself. He built the position. Yurei Rinn is collecting the result.”
‘Honest’ Abe warns Yurei Rinn away.
She takes one step back.
As soon as the referee returns to the cord, another elbow lands.
The crowd grows louder.
Julian Ward: “The official is attempting to free Gretel, but every turn of his attention produces another strike.”
Gretel absorbs the punishment without an answer.
Her knees bend against the middle rope.
Yurei Rinn presses one forearm against the jaw until ‘Honest’ Abe begins counting.
“One!”
“Two!”
“Three!”
“Four!”
Yurei Rinn releases.
Brick Brody: “She used every permitted second of a position created illegally. That is discipline.”
Julian Ward: “It is exploitation, and Gretel remains unable to defend herself.”
Minute 13
‘Honest’ Abe finally frees the arm of Gretel.
She stumbles out of the ropes.
Before she can turn, Yurei Rinn catches the head from behind.
She twists sharply and drives Gretel down with a Reverse Neckbreaker.
The back of the head and shoulders strike the canvas.
Julian Ward: “The Reverse Neckbreaker lands immediately after Gretel is freed. The neck has now endured the Tombstone, Falcon Arrow, repeated Cobra Clutches, Elbow Strikes, and this impact.”
Brick Brody: “That is how interference becomes useful. The rope snare did not win the match. It created two uninterrupted minutes of damage.”
Yurei Rinn kneels beside Gretel.
She places one hand against the jaw and turns the face toward Lord Kurogami.
He gives no visible signal.
Yurei Rinn pulls Gretel upright.
Julian Ward: “The strongest sustained control of the contest belongs to the Blood Oni Syndicate. Gretel has offered no offense since the intervention of Lord Kurogami.”
Gretel remains standing only because Yurei Rinn continues holding her.
The pale competitor releases.
Gretel falls toward one knee.
Minute 14
Yurei Rinn approaches from behind, reaching for another Cobra Clutch.
Gretel catches the wrist.
She turns beneath the arm and loads Yurei Rinn across her back.
The crowd rises.
Julian Ward: “Gretel has found the position for the K-360.”
Gretel flips backward.
Yurei Rinn falls through the rotation.
The knee of Gretel drives upward into the descending face.
The K-360 lands cleanly.
The crowd erupts.
Brick Brody: “That came from nothing. Yurei Rinn controlled two full minutes, reached for the neck again, and got driven onto the knee.”
Julian Ward: “The K-360 connects with full force. Yurei Rinn attempted to defend the lift but could not prevent the rotation.”
Lord Kurogami steps toward the apron.
‘Honest’ Abe turns and warns him away.
Gretel collapses beside Yurei Rinn, still favoring the damaged arm.
The crowd calls for the cover.
Gretel considers it.
Instead, she pulls herself upright.
Brick Brody: “She should have covered.”
Julian Ward: “The hesitation may be exhaustion. Gretel has absorbed sustained attacks to the head, neck, and arm.”
Yurei Rinn rolls toward one side and begins rising.
Gretel watches her.
The hunter’s expression changes.
She has recognized the final opening.
Minute 15
Yurei Rinn reaches one knee.
Gretel closes from the side.
She catches the pale competitor across the shoulders and pulls her into position for another Rolling Fireman’s Carry.
Yurei Rinn widens her base and attempts to prevent the rotation.
Gretel shifts her hips.
She breaks the resistance.
Both women roll forward.
Yurei Rinn is driven hard into the canvas.
Julian Ward: “The Rolling Fireman’s Carry lands. Yurei Rinn could not stop the rotation.”
Gretel keeps her body across the shoulders and hooks the far leg.
‘Honest’ Abe drops into position.
“One!”
Lord Kurogami moves toward the apron.
“Two!”
‘Honest’ Abe keeps his eyes upon the shoulders.
“Three!”
The bell rings.
The crowd erupts.
Gretel releases the cover and rolls onto her back, breathing heavily.
‘Honest’ Abe signals toward her.
Louie Linville: “Here is your winner, Gretel!”
The iron hunting blade appears across the stage screen.
Gretel pushes herself onto one knee.
‘Honest’ Abe raises her uninjured arm.
She keeps the other pressed against her body.
Across the ring, Yurei Rinn sits upright.
She looks toward Gretel.
Then toward Lord Kurogami.
There is no disbelief in her expression.
Only silence.
Lord Kurogami climbs onto the apron.
‘Honest’ Abe steps between him and the winner.
Lord Kurogami makes no attempt to enter.
He looks toward Gretel for several seconds.
She rises and meets his gaze.
The crowd grows louder.
Gretel points toward the dark cord still hanging from the bottom rope.
Then toward Lord Kurogami.
He gives one faint nod.
Not an admission.
An acknowledgment that she understood what had been done.
Yurei Rinn leaves the ring and takes her place beside him.
Neither member of the Blood Oni Syndicate attacks.
Together, they begin walking up the ramp.
Gretel remains inside the ring, watching until they reach the stage.
Yurei Rinn looks back once.
Lord Kurogami does not.
The white mist closes around them.
The dark red mask disappears from the screen.
Inside the ring, Gretel pulls the remaining cord from the ropes and holds it in one hand.
She throws it onto the canvas.
Julian Ward: “Gretel has survived fifteen minutes of concentrated attacks to the head, neck, and arm, including the direct interference of Lord Kurogami. She was trapped in the ropes, struck repeatedly while defenseless, and driven down with the Reverse Neckbreaker.”
Brick Brody: “The plan nearly worked. Lord Kurogami gave Yurei Rinn two uninterrupted minutes. But Yurei Rinn went back to the Cobra Clutch once too often. Gretel caught the arm, landed the K-360, and never allowed the ghost to recover.”
Julian Ward: “One week after enduring nearly an entire tag team contest without reaching her partner, Gretel has answered isolation with victory. The Blood Oni Syndicate attempted to turn the ropes into another prison. Tonight, the hunter escaped and ensured that the final fall belonged to Yurei Rinn.”
RESULT: GRETEL DEFEATS YUREI RINN BY PINFALL AT THE 15-MINUTE MARK AFTER THE ROLLING FIREMAN’S CARRY.
The celebration of Gretel fades from the stage screen.
The image cuts to black.
For several seconds, there is no sound from the broadcast.
Then a chapel bell rings.
One slow toll.
A second follows.
The screen returns beneath flickering candlelight.
A narrow stone corridor stretches into darkness. Black iron sconces line the walls, each holding a single white candle. The flames bend away from the far end of the passage as though resisting something approaching.
A low choir begins.
No words.
Only held notes rising through the stone.
The camera moves forward.
The corridor opens into a vast chapel chamber.
Black pillars rise toward a ceiling lost in shadow. Silver thornwork climbs across the stone. Tall stained-glass windows depict women standing beneath crowns, stars, and golden towers.
Every face in the glass has been removed.
Only the crowns remain.
At the center of the chamber stands a long altar formed from dark stone.
Two empty spaces have been prepared upon it.
Each space is shaped precisely for one half of the North Star Tag Team Championship.
Behind the altar stands Prioress Malveil.
She wears black ceremonial robes edged in dark silver. Her hands rest upon a closed book bound in cracked white leather. Her expression carries the absolute calm of someone who believes judgment has already been passed.
To the right of the altar stands Lady Isolde Blackthorne.
She wears severe black-and-burgundy formal attire, the shoulders shaped like restrained armor. One gloved hand rests upon the back of a high ceremonial chair. Her face carries a cold, controlled confidence.
Footsteps echo from the corridor.
Measured.
Self-important.
The choir stops.
Prince John enters the chapel.
He wears deep crimson beneath a black royal coat. A polished sceptre rests in one hand. His crown catches the candlelight as he walks toward the altar with the satisfaction of a man arriving at a ceremony held in his honor.
He looks at the two empty spaces prepared upon the stone.
A smile forms.
Prince John: “How considerate.”
His voice moves easily through the chamber.
Prince John: “You have already prepared a place for the championships.”
Prioress Malveil: “Preparation is not presumption.”
Prince John turns toward her.
Prioress Malveil: “The faithful do not wait until judgment is complete before preparing the altar.”
Prince John: “Then we agree.”
He steps closer.
The base of his sceptre touches the floor.
Prince John: “Tonight is not merely a championship match.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “Nothing of consequence is ever merely a match.”
Her gaze remains upon the empty spaces.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “A title is permission made visible.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “It tells lesser women where they may stand.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “It tells every court which voices must be heard.”
She turns toward the camera.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “And it tells every frightened little heroine that the story no longer belongs to her.”
The stained-glass windows begin to glow.
The images change.
Bright gold light fills the first window.
Rapunzel appears within it, standing beneath a tower wrapped in golden strands.
The second window reveals Holly Wood, framed by theatrical light and polished stars.
Together, the images of the Blonde Bombshells form above painted championship plates.
The choir returns.
This time, its harmony is lighter.
Warmer.
The sound does not belong in the chapel.
Prince John looks upward with visible distaste.
Prince John: “The champions.”
The word is spoken as an inconvenience.
Prince John: “Beloved by the crowd.”
He circles the altar.
Prince John: “Praised for friendship.”
Another step.
Prince John: “Admired for smiling through hardship as though suffering becomes noble when endured beneath flattering light.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “They mistake public affection for protection.”
Prince John: “Most popular people do.”
He looks toward the image of Rapunzel.
Prince John: “One victory over Athena, and suddenly the tower believes itself a fortress.”
The glass shows Rapunzel reversing the Gorgon Clutch and securing the Cobra Clutch.
Athena submits.
Prince John watches the image without admiration.
Prince John: “A respectable victory.”
He lifts one shoulder dismissively.
Prince John: “But tonight, Rapunzel will not stand across from one wounded warrior.”
His eyes move toward Lady Isolde Blackthorne.
Then Prioress Malveil.
Prince John: “She will stand inside an institution.”
The warm light in the stained glass begins to darken.
Black thorns spread across the tower behind Rapunzel.
The theatrical stars surrounding Holly Wood crack one by one.
Prioress Malveil opens the book upon the altar.
Its pages are filled with handwritten names.
Some have been crossed out.
Others have been covered in black wax.
Two names remain untouched.
Rapunzel.
Holly Wood.
Prioress Malveil: “The champions have been measured.”
She turns one page.
Prioress Malveil: “Their strength has been recorded.”
Another page.
Prioress Malveil: “Their victories have been witnessed.”
Another.
Prioress Malveil: “Their loyalty has been examined.”
She places one finger beneath the two names.
Prioress Malveil: “And their weakness has been confessed in every celebration.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “They display it proudly.”
Prioress Malveil: “Yes.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne steps toward the altar.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “The Blonde Bombshells believe unity makes them difficult to divide.”
The candlelight catches the edge of her face.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “They believe every hand reaching toward the corner will be answered.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “They believe one will always arrive in time to rescue the other.”
A faint smile appears.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “That belief is not strength.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “It is dependence decorated as devotion.”
Prince John: “And dependence is remarkably easy to govern.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne looks toward him.
Prince John smiles.
Prince John: “Separate the subjects from those they trust.”
He raises the sceptre.
Prince John: “Control the road between them.”
The sceptre points toward the two championship spaces.
Prince John: “Then offer protection at an appropriate price.”
Prioress Malveil: “The Black Chapel does not offer protection.”
The smile fades slightly from Prince John.
Prioress Malveil: “Protection preserves weakness.”
She closes the book.
The sound echoes through the chamber.
Prioress Malveil: “We offer correction.”
The images of Rapunzel and Holly Wood disappear from the stained glass.
In their place appears a wrestling ring beneath black cathedral arches.
A single competitor stands trapped in one corner.
The opposite corner remains hidden behind darkness.
Prioress Malveil: “Tonight, the champions will learn what becomes of fellowship when distance is imposed.”
Prioress Malveil: “One will be isolated.”
The stained-glass figure reaches toward the darkness.
No hand answers.
Prioress Malveil: “One will be forced to watch.”
A second figure appears beyond the ropes, unable to enter.
Prioress Malveil: “And both will discover that hope is most painful when salvation remains visible but unreachable.”
Prince John: “Beautifully expressed.”
He steps between Lady Isolde Blackthorne and Prioress Malveil.
Prince John: “But let us not lose sight of the material consequence.”
He looks toward the empty championship spaces.
Prince John: “Those titles carry influence.”
Prince John: “Influence carries recognition.”
Prince John: “Recognition brings access.”
His expression sharpens.
Prince John: “Access brings authority.”
The crest of Nottingham forms upon the stone wall behind him.
Dark red wax spreads through the image.
Prince John: “Tonight, the Black Chapel does not simply challenge for gold.”
Prince John: “You challenge for standing.”
Prince John: “You challenge for the right to enter every chamber in this division without invitation.”
Prince John: “You challenge for the privilege of making others listen before they decide whether they agree.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “Agreement is unnecessary.”
Prince John: “Naturally.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “Recognition will suffice.”
She steps behind one of the empty championship spaces.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “For too long, the women of the Mythic Division have treated us as a disturbance at the edge of their stories.”
Her gloved fingertips move across the stone.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “A warning whispered backstage.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “A shadow passing through an interview.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “A presence acknowledged only when fear made denial inconvenient.”
Her eyes lift toward the camera.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “Tonight, that ends.”
The insignia of the Black Chapel appears above the altar.
A black rose surrounded by silver thorns.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “When the North Star Tag Team Championship is placed in our hands, the chapel will no longer wait outside the story.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “The story will be brought here.”
Prioress Malveil: “Every alliance will be examined.”
The black rose expands across the wall.
Prioress Malveil: “Every friendship will be tested.”
The silver thorns tighten around it.
Prioress Malveil: “Every promise will be placed beneath pressure until truth separates from comfort.”
Prince John: “And those who prove useful will find opportunity.”
Prioress Malveil: “Those who prove worthy will find purpose.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “Those who prove neither will find us.”
Silence returns to the chapel.
Prince John studies the two women.
There is satisfaction in his face.
But also caution.
He understands that the institution before him does not kneel merely because he wears a crown.
Prince John: “You speak as though victory has already occurred.”
Prioress Malveil: “Victory has occurred.”
Prince John raises one eyebrow.
Prioress Malveil: “The champions have accepted entry.”
She turns toward the dark aisle leading deeper into the chapel.
Prioress Malveil: “They have agreed to stand where we may reach them.”
Her gaze returns to the altar.
Prioress Malveil: “Everything after that is ceremony.”
A low bell sounds.
The image changes.
The Blonde Bombshells appear upon the stone wall.
Rapunzel stands beside Holly Wood with the North Star Tag Team Championship displayed between them.
Their image is bright.
Confident.
Unified.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne walks toward the projection.
Her shadow falls across Rapunzel first.
Then Holly Wood.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “Rapunzel.”
The image of the golden tower fills the wall.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “You have spent your life being praised for escaping confinement.”
Black vines climb the tower.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “Tonight, you will learn that not every prison requires walls.”
The image turns toward Holly Wood.
Stage lights shine around her.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “And Holly Wood.”
One by one, the lights go dark.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “You understand presentation.”
Another light dies.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “You understand applause.”
Only one remains.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “You understand how brightly a woman must shine to prevent the audience from seeing fear.”
The final light disappears.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “Tonight, there will be no audience bright enough to hide you from us.”
The wall becomes black again.
Prince John steps forward.
Prince John: “The champions will arrive expecting a contest.”
He spreads one hand toward the chamber.
Prince John: “They will receive an education.”
Prioress Malveil: “They will receive judgment.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “They will surrender possession.”
The three stand behind the altar.
Prince John in the center.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne at one side.
Prioress Malveil at the other.
The arrangement resembles a corrupted royal court.
The empty championship spaces remain before them.
Prince John: “There are those who will accuse me of ambition.”
A pleased smile forms.
Prince John: “They are correct.”
Prince John: “There are those who will say the Black Chapel seeks influence beyond the ring.”
Prioress Malveil: “They are also correct.”
Prince John: “And there are those who believe the Blonde Bombshells will leave tonight with their championships because goodness, friendship, and public affection must eventually be rewarded.”
He looks directly into the camera.
Prince John: “Those people have misunderstood every kingdom ever built.”
The chapel bell rings again.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “Gold does not remain with the beloved.”
A second toll.
Prioress Malveil: “Gold remains with those willing to take responsibility for its burden.”
A third toll.
Prince John: “And tonight, the burden changes hands.”
The choir rises.
Two figures emerge from the darkness behind the altar.
They carry black velvet cushions.
Upon each rests a silver plate engraved with one name.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne.
Prioress Malveil.
The attendants place the plates inside the spaces prepared for the championships.
The message is unmistakable.
Those spaces have never been empty.
They have been reserved.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne looks down at her name.
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “The champions may keep their smiles until the bell.”
Prioress Malveil: “They may keep their hope until the first separation.”
Prince John: “They may even keep the crowd.”
He places the base of his sceptre against the altar.
Prince John: “But the championships…”
He looks from Lady Isolde Blackthorne to Prioress Malveil.
Prince John: “Those belong in better hands.”
The stained-glass windows ignite with black flame.
The insignia of the Black Chapel fills every pane.
The championship plates appear above the altar.
Not gold.
Blackened silver.
The image of the Blonde Bombshells forms beneath them.
Their golden strands are pulled apart by silver thorns.
Prioress Malveil: “To Rapunzel.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “To Holly Wood.”
Prince John: “To every woman who believes the light will protect her.”
The three voices do not speak together.
They arrive one after another.
A sentence passed in stages.
Prioress Malveil: “The doors are open.”
Lady Isolde Blackthorne: “The altar is prepared.”
Prince John: “And your titles are expected.”
The chapel doors slam shut.
The screen cuts to black.
A final message appears in narrow silver lettering.
WELCOME TO THE BLACK CHAPEL
Beneath it, two championship plates slowly emerge from the darkness.
The bell tolls once more.
The image disappears.
The final bell of the Black Chapel vignette fades.
The blackened image of the North Star Tag Team Championship disappears from the stage screen.
For several seconds, the coliseum remains dark.
Then a plain black mask appears.
No insignia.
No name.
Only narrow eye openings and a faint line of red thread along the inner edge.
The crowd responds immediately.
The mask turns slowly.
A white brushstroke cuts through it from top to bottom.
The image splits apart.
Behind it stands the silhouette of Taro Okami.
A low drumbeat begins.
Not ceremonial.
Measured.
Controlled.
White light spreads across the entranceway as Taro Okami steps onto the stage.
He wears black-and-white ring gear with restrained silver detailing. His wrists are taped. His posture remains upright, but his attention is more severe than it was one week ago.
He looks first toward the ring.
Then toward the darkened sections surrounding the entranceway.
There is no equipment bag.
No mask.
No ally beside him.
Julian Ward: “One week ago, Taro Okami was forced to defend more than his actions. He was forced to defend his identity after a black mask was discovered beside his equipment.”
Brick Brody: “And tonight he gets the direct version of the argument. No evidence bag. No questions from Hana Nakamura. Just Kaen waiting to hit him.”
Julian Ward: “Taro Okami denied ownership of that mask and argued that it had been planted by the Blood Oni Syndicate to divide him from Raigen.”
Brick Brody: “It was a reasonable explanation. Reasonable explanations still need proof.”
Taro Okami begins walking down the ramp.
Supporters near the barricade raise white banners marked with a dark crescent. Others hold images of the plain black mask with a red line struck through it.
Taro Okami acknowledges none of them.
His eyes remain on the ring.
Julian Ward: “Tonight cannot reveal with certainty who wore the mask or who ordered the attack upon Masa Tanenaga. But it can reveal how Taro Okami responds when placed directly against one of the men he has accused.”
Brick Brody: “And Kaen is the correct man for that test. Lord Kurogami may design the conflict. Enrai may calculate it. Kaen wants to burn through the accusation and the man making it.”
At ringside, Taro Okami stops.
He scans the crowd once more.
Then he climbs the steps and enters through the ropes.
Taro Okami moves to the center of the ring and lowers into a brief kneeling position. He places one hand against the canvas, closes his eyes, and steadies his breathing.
The white light fades.
A deep impact breaks through the building.
The stage screen becomes red.
Not flame at first.
Blood spreading across black cloth.
A circular oni crest forms within it.
The sound of iron chains follows.
A single ember falls through the image.
Then the screen erupts.
Red fire spreads across the entranceway.
Lord Kurogami steps through the flames.
The crowd fills the coliseum with boos.
He wears black ceremonial attire marked with dark crimson embroidery. His hands remain folded behind his back. His expression is composed, but the fire around him makes that calm appear more threatening rather than less.
Behind him comes Kaen.
The reaction becomes louder.
Kaen wears black-and-red ring gear marked by scorched patterns across the legs and torso. His fists are already clenched. His jaw is set. Unlike Lord Kurogami, there is no attempt to conceal hostility.
Kaen looks directly toward Taro Okami.
Taro Okami rises from the kneeling position.
The two men stare across the distance.
Julian Ward: “The hostility between these men began before the black mask was discovered. Taro Okami intervened when Kaen and Enrai attempted to overwhelm Raigen, then partnered with the Eternal Flame Champion against Kaminari Hono.”
Brick Brody: “And that match ended by count-out. Kaen has not forgotten it. Men like him do not treat an unfinished fight as a loss. They treat it as an insult requiring another meeting.”
Lord Kurogami begins walking down the ramp.
Kaen follows closely behind him.
The crowd reaches across the barricade, but neither man reacts.
Halfway down the ramp, Lord Kurogami stops.
Kaen stops beside him.
Lord Kurogami turns his head slightly and speaks too quietly for the cameras to capture.
Kaen listens.
His fists loosen.
Only briefly.
Then he resumes the descent.
Julian Ward: “Every action surrounding the Blood Oni Syndicate appears to pass through Lord Kurogami. Even the anger of Kaen is given direction.”
Brick Brody: “Anger without direction wastes energy. Lord Kurogami makes sure the fire burns where he points.”
At ringside, Lord Kurogami takes his position near the corner post.
Kaen climbs onto the apron and steps through the ropes.
He advances immediately.
Taro Okami meets him near the center.
Neither man speaks.
Neither retreats.
‘Honest’ Abe moves between them and forces both competitors toward their corners.
In the center of the ring, Louie Linville raises the microphone.
Louie Linville: “Ladies and gentlemen, this contest is scheduled for one fall with a thirty-minute time limit!”
The crowd responds loudly.
Louie Linville: “The referee assigned to this match is ‘Honest’ Abe.”
‘Honest’ Abe raises one hand, then looks toward Lord Kurogami and issues a firm warning to remain on the floor.
Louie Linville: “Introducing first, the disciplined hunter of hidden truth, the warrior who walks beneath no borrowed shadow, Taro Okami!”
The crowd cheers.
Taro Okami gives one restrained nod.
Louie Linville: “And his opponent, accompanied to the ring by Lord Kurogami. The burning fist of the Blood Oni Syndicate, the wrath carried beneath the oni crest, Kaen!”
Boos spread through the building.
Kaen steps forward and strikes one fist against his chest.
Behind him, Lord Kurogami remains motionless.
‘Honest’ Abe gives both men their final instructions.
Taro Okami raises his hands.
Kaen lowers his center of gravity.
The bell rings.
Minute 1
Kaen charges immediately.
Taro Okami steps inside the approach rather than retreating. He catches the head beneath one arm and closes both hands together.
The Standing Guillotine Choke is secured.
Julian Ward: “The Guillotine is locked in immediately. Taro Okami has used the forward aggression of Kaen against him.”
Kaen drives both hands into the waist of Taro Okami and attempts to lift.
Taro Okami keeps his hips low and pulls upward beneath the jaw.
Brick Brody: “That is the danger of charging a disciplined grappler. Kaen gave him the neck before either man threw a strike.”
‘Honest’ Abe moves beside them and asks Kaen if he submits.
Kaen answers by driving Taro Okami backward into the turnbuckles.
The impact loosens the grip but does not immediately break it.
Kaen drives forward a second time.
The hold finally releases.
Taro Okami steps away cleanly.
Kaen remains in the corner, one hand pressed against his throat.
Julian Ward: “Complete control for Taro Okami in the opening minute. He has already demonstrated that the aggression of Kaen can be redirected into restraint.”
Brick Brody: “Then he needs to keep doing it. One choke does not prove innocence, but it makes the accuser difficult to argue with.”
Minute 2
Kaen leaves the corner with his guard high.
Taro Okami circles to the side.
Kaen turns to follow.
Taro Okami pivots suddenly and drives the Lunar Fang, a Spinning Back Kick, directly into the jaw.
The strike snaps the head of Kaen backward.
He falls against the ropes.
Julian Ward: “Lunar Fang connects cleanly. Kaen attempted to raise his guard but could not close the angle before the heel reached the jaw.”
Brick Brody: “That is two minutes of Taro Okami controlling the distance. Choke him when he charges. Kick him when he waits.”
Taro Okami closes without rushing.
He catches one wrist and pulls Kaen away from the ropes.
Kaen attempts to swing with the free arm.
Taro Okami slips outside the strike and releases before the exchange becomes uncontrolled.
Julian Ward: “The approach of Taro Okami remains deliberate. He is not attempting to match the anger of Kaen. He is making that anger reveal openings.”
At ringside, Lord Kurogami watches the feet of Taro Okami rather than the damage upon Kaen.
Kaen pushes himself upright.
His expression has become more severe.
Minute 3
Taro Okami reaches for another grip.
Kaen turns sharply through the approach.
The Tokko Discus Lariat crashes across the throat and upper chest of Taro Okami.
The force turns him inside out.
Julian Ward: “The Tokko Discus Lariat from Kaen. Taro Okami recognized the rotation but could not protect himself in time.”
Brick Brody: “There is the fire. Taro Okami spent two minutes controlling him. Kaen needed one turn to erase the comfort.”
Taro Okami rolls toward one knee.
Kaen drives a forearm across his upper back and forces him toward the ropes.
‘Honest’ Abe warns Kaen away when Taro Okami becomes caught beneath the middle strand.
Kaen releases at four but remains close.
Julian Ward: “The first clean control for Kaen comes through direct impact. He has no interest in escaping the strategy of Taro Okami through patience. He intends to break through it.”
Taro Okami pulls himself upright.
Kaen waits near the center, demanding another approach.
Minute 4
The two men meet in a collar-and-elbow tie-up.
Neither gains leverage.
They separate.
Taro Okami reaches for the wrist.
Kaen pulls free.
Another approach ends with both men breaking contact.
The crowd grows louder as the stalemate continues.
Julian Ward: “Neither man is willing to concede the central position. Taro Okami wants the neck and arms. Kaen wants enough room to rotate into another Lariat.”
Brick Brody: “This is no longer caution. They are waiting to see which man becomes impatient first.”
A third tie-up produces no advantage.
‘Honest’ Abe steps away and allows them to reset.
Kaen moves first.
He begins turning for another Tokko Discus Lariat.
Taro Okami closes before the arm can fully extend.
The Standing Guillotine Choke locks around the neck.
Kaen continues the rotation and drives the Lariat through the body of Taro Okami even as the choke tightens.
Both men fall.
Julian Ward: “The Guillotine and the Tokko Discus Lariat connect in the same exchange.”
Brick Brody: “That was stubbornness against structure. Taro Okami caught the neck. Kaen decided the arm was already moving and finished the strike anyway.”
Taro Okami maintains the Guillotine briefly from the canvas.
Kaen drives one forearm into the ribs and rolls toward the ropes.
The hold releases.
Both men remain down.
Julian Ward: “The stronger control belongs narrowly to Taro Okami, but the Lariat ensured that the choke could not become decisive.”
Minute 5
Both men rise near the ropes.
Taro Okami closes around the waist and launches Kaen overhead with a Belly-to-Belly Suplex.
Kaen crashes across the shoulders.
Julian Ward: “A Belly-to-Belly Suplex from Taro Okami. He has returned to control through balance and leverage.”
Kaen rolls through the landing and catches Taro Okami as he follows.
He hooks the head and drives him down with the Concrete Brainbuster.
The momentum carries Taro Okami through the lower ropes and onto the floor.
The crowd reacts sharply.
Brick Brody: “Concrete Brainbuster, and Taro Okami has been driven out of the ring.”
‘Honest’ Abe moves to the ropes and begins counting.
“One!”
Taro Okami lies beside the apron, one hand pressed against the back of his head.
“Two!”
Kaen stands inside the ring and watches without attempting to follow.
“Three!”
Lord Kurogami approaches but stops several feet away.
“Four!”
Taro Okami reaches the ring skirt.
“Five!”
He pulls himself upright.
“Six!”
Taro Okami slides beneath the bottom rope.
Julian Ward: “Taro Okami returns at six. The Suplex scored first, but the Concrete Brainbuster produced the more dangerous consequence.”
Brick Brody: “And notice Lord Kurogami. Close enough to remind him who owns the floor, far enough to avoid giving ‘Honest’ Abe a reason to act.”
Minute 6
Kaen attacks as Taro Okami rises.
Taro Okami catches the arm and turns his hips, throwing Kaen across the ring with a Judo Throw.
Kaen lands near the ropes but rises quickly.
Julian Ward: “The Judo Throw interrupts the next attack. Taro Okami continues redirecting force rather than meeting it directly.”
Kaen closes again.
He catches Taro Okami near the ropes and drives him down with another Concrete Brainbuster.
The landing carries Taro Okami beneath the bottom strand a second time.
Brick Brody: “Another Brainbuster, and again the floor receives Taro Okami.”
‘Honest’ Abe begins the count.
“One!”
Taro Okami rolls onto one side.
“Two!”
Kaen grips the top rope and watches.
“Three!”
Lord Kurogami lowers his gaze toward the fallen opponent.
“Four!”
Taro Okami rises using the apron.
“Five!”
He slides back into the ring.
Julian Ward: “A return at five, but the repeated Brainbusters have changed the contest. Taro Okami has been forced outside twice in consecutive minutes.”
Brick Brody: “Every trip back into the ring requires more from the neck. Kaen is turning recovery into part of the punishment.”
Minute 7
Taro Okami reaches one knee.
Kaen steps forward and drives his forehead directly into the face.
The Headbutt drops Taro Okami backward.
Julian Ward: “A direct Headbutt from Kaen. Taro Okami attempted to raise his hands but could not stop the impact.”
Brick Brody: “That is the simplest attack of the match. No rotation. No lift. One skull against another.”
Kaen remains standing over him.
A thin line of blood appears near the hairline of Kaen, but he shows no concern.
Taro Okami turns toward one side and attempts to create distance.
Kaen follows and drives a short forearm into the ribs.
Julian Ward: “The seventh minute belongs entirely to Kaen. The technical rhythm of Taro Okami has been disrupted by repeated attacks to the head.”
At ringside, Lord Kurogami gives no signal.
He does not need one.
Kaen pulls Taro Okami toward the center.
Minute 8
Both men hesitate.
Taro Okami protects the head.
Kaen keeps his arms low, expecting another throw.
The first approach ends without contact.
The second begins violently.
Taro Okami drops beneath the arms, traps one shoulder, and wraps both legs around the head and arm.
The Hunter’s Lock closes.
The Triangle Choke is secured.
Julian Ward: “Hunter’s Lock. Taro Okami has trapped the neck and one arm in the Triangle.”
‘Honest’ Abe drops beside them.
Kaen refuses immediately.
He plants both feet beneath him.
Brick Brody: “Kaen is not trying to pull the legs apart. He is trying to lift the entire man.”
Kaen powers Taro Okami off the canvas while the Triangle remains closed.
He transitions the body over one shoulder into the Ura Shouten.
The overhead Gutwrench Backbreaker Rack folds Taro Okami across the shoulders.
Kaen turns through the position and drives him down with the Reverse Swinging Side Slam Facebuster.
The ring shakes.
The Hunter’s Lock breaks on impact.
Julian Ward: “The Ura Shouten breaks the submission through overwhelming force. Kaen carried Taro Okami from the Triangle into the Backbreaker Rack and then drove him face-first into the canvas.”
Brick Brody: “That was the answer. Taro Okami found the hold. Kaen found a way to turn the hold into a weapon against the man applying it.”
Taro Okami rolls onto one shoulder.
Kaen remains seated nearby, breathing heavily and rubbing the side of his neck.
Julian Ward: “Hunter’s Lock caused damage, but Kaen did not submit. The stronger final impact belongs to the Ura Shouten.”
Minute 9
Both men rise cautiously.
The first engagement ends with neither willing to commit.
Taro Okami reaches toward the head.
Kaen steps away.
They circle again.
Julian Ward: “The submission has forced Kaen to respect the entry, while the Ura Shouten has forced Taro Okami to protect the back and face.”
Brick Brody: “Respect is useful. Hesitation is dangerous.”
Taro Okami finally steps forward.
Kaen moves behind him before the grip can settle.
He locks both arms around the waist and launches Taro Okami backward with a German Suplex.
Taro Okami lands across the shoulders and neck.
Julian Ward: “The German Suplex lands cleanly. Taro Okami absorbs the full punishment.”
Kaen keeps his hands locked and attempts to pull him upright again.
Taro Okami hooks one leg around the lower rope and prevents the second throw.
‘Honest’ Abe calls for the release.
Kaen lets go at four.
Brick Brody: “The ropes stopped the second Suplex. The first one still counted.”
Minute 10
Taro Okami leaves the ropes and catches the arm of Kaen.
He turns sharply and throws him with another Judo Throw.
Julian Ward: “The Judo Throw gives Taro Okami the first impact of the minute.”
Kaen rolls through the landing.
As Taro Okami follows, Kaen moves behind him and launches another German Suplex.
The body of Taro Okami folds across the shoulders.
Brick Brody: “And Kaen answers with the German Suplex again.”
Taro Okami rolls toward one knee.
Kaen rises more slowly after the Judo Throw but remains closer to the center.
Julian Ward: “The exchange favors Kaen through greater impact. Taro Okami continues producing clean throws, but Kaen is returning him to the damaged head and neck.”
Lord Kurogami takes one slow step along the floor, keeping himself within the sightline of Taro Okami.
The movement draws a brief glance.
Kaen notices.
Minute 11
Kaen approaches from the front.
Taro Okami catches the head and drops his weight.
The Standing Guillotine Choke closes for a third time.
Kaen attempts to widen his stance.
Taro Okami turns him away from the ropes.
Julian Ward: “The Guillotine is locked in again, and this time Kaen cannot reach the ropes immediately.”
Brick Brody: “Every Brainbuster and Suplex has damaged Taro Okami, but he keeps finding the neck.”
Kaen drives both hands into the waist and attempts another lift.
The legs of Taro Okami remain planted.
He increases the pressure beneath the jaw.
‘Honest’ Abe asks if Kaen submits.
Kaen refuses.
He drives one knee into the ribs of Taro Okami.
Then another.
The grip loosens.
Kaen forces his head free and falls toward one knee.
Julian Ward: “Kaen survives, but the submission clearly affected him. Taro Okami has reestablished control by returning to the hold that began the match.”
Kaen looks toward Lord Kurogami.
The leader of the Blood Oni Syndicate remains expressionless.
Minute 12
Kaen attacks the lower body.
He catches one ankle, turns through the leg, and applies an Ankle Lock.
Julian Ward: “The Ankle Lock from Kaen. He has shifted away from the damaged head and targeted the base beneath the throws of Taro Okami.”
Taro Okami rolls forward before the hold can fully settle.
The momentum sends Kaen through the ropes but not to the floor.
Taro Okami rises first.
As Kaen returns, Taro Okami drives a Knee Strike directly into the face.
The impact drops Kaen flat.
Brick Brody: “Reversal into the knee. Kaen reached for the ankle and exposed the head.”
Taro Okami drops into the cover.
‘Honest’ Abe counts.
“One!”
Kaen throws one shoulder upward.
Julian Ward: “An immediate kickout by Kaen. The Knee Strike landed cleanly, but the cover came before enough damage had accumulated.”
Brick Brody: “That pin was a mistake. Taro Okami had control and traded it for a count that barely began.”
Taro Okami rises without arguing.
Kaen rolls toward the corner and uses the turnbuckles to stand.
Minute 13
Taro Okami closes around the waist.
He launches Kaen overhead with another Belly-to-Belly Suplex.
Kaen lands hard but rolls toward his feet.
As Taro Okami approaches, Kaen drives another Headbutt into the face.
Both men stagger.
Julian Ward: “Belly-to-Belly Suplex from Taro Okami, answered by the Headbutt from Kaen.”
Brick Brody: “The throw moved the entire body. The Headbutt stopped the man following it.”
Taro Okami remains standing but presses one hand against the bridge of his nose.
Kaen falls toward the ropes.
The damage from the Suplex is visible through the stiffness in his lower back.
Julian Ward: “The stronger control belongs narrowly to Taro Okami, but every attempt to follow a throw is being answered by direct violence.”
‘Honest’ Abe checks both men.
Neither accepts assistance.
They step toward the center again.
Minute 14
Taro Okami catches the wrist of Kaen and turns beneath the arm.
A Judo Throw sends Kaen across the canvas.
Julian Ward: “Another Judo Throw from Taro Okami. Kaen could not stop the rotation.”
At ringside, Lord Kurogami raises one hand.
Two fingers extend.
Then close into a fist.
The Blood Oath Signal.
Kaen sees it from the canvas.
His breathing changes.
He presses one palm against the mat and forces himself upright.
Brick Brody: “There is the signal from Lord Kurogami. He is reminding Kaen that pain does not release him from obligation.”
Julian Ward: “The signal may strengthen the resolve of Kaen, but it does not erase the control of Taro Okami. The fourteenth minute belongs to the repeated throwing offense.”
Taro Okami waits as Kaen rises.
Kaen looks first toward Lord Kurogami.
Then directly toward Taro Okami.
The anger has returned.
More focused than before.
Minute 15
Kaen charges.
Taro Okami turns through the movement and sends him down with another Judo Throw.
Kaen rolls through the landing and rises behind Taro Okami.
He catches him across the shoulders.
Julian Ward: “Kaen has him elevated.”
The Ushigoroshi drives Taro Okami neck-first across the knee.
The crowd reacts sharply.
Brick Brody: “That is the answer to the throw. Kaen accepted the landing, rose through it, and brought the neck down across the knee.”
Taro Okami falls onto his back.
Kaen remains on one knee beside him, rubbing the lower back after the Judo Throw.
Julian Ward: “Both men score, but the greater damage belongs to Kaen through the Ushigoroshi. The head and neck of Taro Okami have absorbed repeated Brainbusters, German Suplexes, and now this landing.”
Kaen reaches down to pull Taro Okami upright.
Taro Okami drives one forearm into the abdomen and forces separation.
Minute 16
Taro Okami drops low and tackles Kaen to the canvas.
He moves into the guard and begins Ground and Pound.
A forearm lands across the jaw.
Then another.
Julian Ward: “Ground and Pound from Taro Okami. He has removed the standing rotation required for the Lariat and Ushigoroshi.”
Kaen covers the head with both arms.
He creates enough room to push Taro Okami away.
Both men rise quickly.
Kaen rotates through another Tokko Discus Lariat.
The arm crashes across the chest and jaw.
Taro Okami falls backward.
Brick Brody: “The Ground and Pound landed, but Kaen found the Lariat the moment the match returned to the feet.”
Julian Ward: “The greater final impact belongs to Kaen. Taro Okami controlled the canvas, but he could not prevent the Discus Lariat after the separation.”
Kaen leans against the ropes, breathing heavily.
Taro Okami turns toward one knee.
The halfway point of the time limit approaches.
Minute 17
Taro Okami forces himself upright.
He closes and drives another Knee Strike into the face of Kaen.
The head snaps backward.
Julian Ward: “A clean Knee Strike from Taro Okami.”
Before Taro Okami can follow, Lord Kurogami steps closer to the apron.
He does not touch the ropes.
He does not raise his voice.
He whispers.
The words are too low for the microphone.
Yet Taro Okami hears them.
His head turns.
Only slightly.
The lights above the ring seem to dim around him.
Brick Brody: “What did Lord Kurogami say?”
Julian Ward: “Whatever the words were, they have disrupted the concentration of Taro Okami.”
Taro Okami looks toward the floor.
Lord Kurogami continues speaking.
The expression of Taro Okami tightens.
The black mask appears briefly upon the stage screen behind the ring.
One flash.
Then darkness.
Kaen rises through the effects of the Knee Strike.
He advances while Taro Okami remains distracted.
‘Honest’ Abe moves between the ropes and Lord Kurogami, warning him away.
The whispered words stop.
Taro Okami turns back toward Kaen, but the moment has already been lost.
Brick Brody: “That is the first attack tonight that did not require a hand.”
Julian Ward: “The Knee Strike landed, but the intervention of Lord Kurogami gave Kaen the more valuable result. The focus of Taro Okami has been disturbed.”
Minute 18
Kaen closes quickly.
Taro Okami drops beneath the arms and secures Hunter’s Lock again.
The Triangle Choke closes around the neck and trapped arm.
Julian Ward: “Hunter’s Lock is secured for a second time.”
Kaen refuses the submission.
He shifts his weight, powers Taro Okami upward, and carries him across the shoulders.
Brick Brody: “He is lifting him again.”
Kaen drives Taro Okami down with the GTW, the Death Valley Driver.
Before Taro Okami can roll away, Kaen drops across the chest with a heavy Elbow Drop.
The impact forces the Triangle apart.
Julian Ward: “Death Valley Driver into the Elbow Drop. Kaen has broken Hunter’s Lock through another full-body counter.”
Taro Okami reaches for the arm again from the canvas.
Kaen pulls free and rolls toward the ropes.
‘Honest’ Abe asks whether Kaen submitted at any point.
Kaen shakes his head.
Brick Brody: “Twice inside the Triangle. Twice refusing. Kaen may not have an elegant escape, but he has enough strength to make the hold collapse.”
Julian Ward: “Both men produce substantial offense. Hunter’s Lock again damages the neck, but the GTW and Elbow Drop prevent the submission.”
Minute 19
Both men reset cautiously.
The first approach produces no contact.
Taro Okami reaches for another Judo Throw.
Kaen catches the turning hip before the throw can be completed.
He reverses the position and pulls Taro Okami across the shoulders.
The Ushigoroshi drives the neck down across the knee.
Julian Ward: “The Judo Throw is reversed into the Ushigoroshi.”
Taro Okami falls flat.
Kaen drops into the cover and hooks the leg.
‘Honest’ Abe counts.
“One!”
“Two!”
Taro Okami lifts one shoulder.
The crowd responds loudly.
Brick Brody: “That was close. The neck has been damaged throughout this match, and Kaen drove it onto the knee again.”
Julian Ward: “Taro Okami survives at two, but this is the clearest near fall of the contest.”
Kaen remains seated beside him.
He looks toward ‘Honest’ Abe but does not argue.
At ringside, Lord Kurogami gives one slow nod.
Kaen pulls Taro Okami upright.
Minute 20
Taro Okami breaks the grip and drives a Knee Strike into the face.
Kaen staggers but remains standing.
He catches Taro Okami as he follows and lifts him across the shoulders.
Another Ushigoroshi drives the neck across the knee.
Julian Ward: “Knee Strike from Taro Okami, answered by a third Ushigoroshi from Kaen.”
Brick Brody: “The knee stunned him. The Ushigoroshi damaged the part of the body that has been deteriorating since the fifth minute.”
Taro Okami falls toward the ropes.
Kaen reaches for another cover but stops when Taro Okami hooks one arm around the lower strand.
Julian Ward: “The exchange belongs to Kaen through greater structural damage, but the ring position denies the immediate pin.”
Kaen steps away at the command of ‘Honest’ Abe.
Taro Okami remains beneath the ropes, breathing heavily.
The timekeeper announces ten minutes remaining.
Minute 21
Both men rise slowly.
The first tie-up ends without advantage.
They separate.
The second approach becomes violent.
Taro Okami drives another Knee Strike into the face.
Kaen turns through the impact and traps the head beneath one arm.
He spins through the GTR.
The Spinning Headlock Lariat drives Taro Okami down before Kaen pulls him across the knee with the Backbreaker.
Julian Ward: “Knee Strike from Taro Okami, but Kaen completes the GTR into the Backbreaker.”
Brick Brody: “That may be the most complete attack Kaen has landed. Head, neck, back, all in one sequence.”
Taro Okami rolls onto his side and presses one hand against the lower back.
Kaen remains on one knee, shaking the effects of the Knee Strike from his head.
Julian Ward: “The offense of Taro Okami continues landing, but Kaen is answering with attacks that affect multiple parts of the body and prevent any sustained follow-up.”
Lord Kurogami watches the clock.
Then he looks toward Kaen.
Minute 22
Kaen reaches down.
Taro Okami catches one arm and turns through the grip.
He drops to the canvas and applies a Reverse Cross Armbreaker.
The shoulder and elbow are extended across the body.
Julian Ward: “The Reverse Cross Armbreaker is secured. Taro Okami has trapped the arm away from the ropes.”
Kaen refuses to submit.
He rolls toward the pressure rather than away from it.
The movement carries both men upward.
Kaen locks his hands around the waist.
He launches Taro Okami backward with another German Suplex.
The Armbreaker releases during the fall.
Brick Brody: “Kaen escaped by throwing the man attached to his arm.”
Julian Ward: “An extraordinary exchange. Taro Okami produces the greater technical threat through the Reverse Cross Armbreaker, but the German Suplex prevents the hold from becoming decisive.”
Kaen presses the injured arm against his body.
Taro Okami lies near the center, staring upward toward the lights.
Both men have difficulty rising.
Minute 23
Taro Okami reaches his feet first.
He catches the head of Kaen beneath one arm.
The Standing Guillotine Choke closes for a fourth time.
Kaen attempts to drive him toward the corner.
His damaged arm cannot generate the same force.
Julian Ward: “The Guillotine is secured again. The injured arm of Kaen is limiting his ability to lift or drive through the hold.”
Brick Brody: “This is the best application since the first minute. Kaen has spent twenty-two minutes being thrown, choked, and trapped.”
‘Honest’ Abe asks if Kaen submits.
Kaen refuses.
He reaches toward the ropes.
They remain several steps away.
Taro Okami turns him back toward the center.
The crowd rises.
At ringside, Lord Kurogami steps closer.
Kaen sees him.
He forces one foot forward.
Then another.
He reaches the bottom rope.
‘Honest’ Abe calls for the break.
Taro Okami releases immediately.
Julian Ward: “The ropes preserve the match for Kaen, but the twenty-third minute belongs completely to Taro Okami.”
Kaen remains against the ropes, breathing heavily.
Lord Kurogami says nothing.
His stare is enough.
Minute 24
Taro Okami reaches for the head again.
This time, he traps one arm and drives his shoulder against the throat.
The Arm Triangle closes.
Julian Ward: “The Arm Triangle is secured. Taro Okami has changed the submission while continuing to target the neck.”
Kaen plants both feet beneath him.
He powers Taro Okami upward.
The hold remains locked as Kaen transitions into the Ura Shouten.
The back of Taro Okami bends across the Gutwrench Backbreaker Rack.
Kaen turns through the movement and drives him down with the Reverse Swinging Side Slam Facebuster.
The hold breaks.
Brick Brody: “Ura Shouten again. Every time Taro Okami traps him, Kaen tries to turn the submission into a fall from above.”
Julian Ward: “The Arm Triangle created pressure, but the greater impact belongs to Kaen through the Backbreaker Rack and Facebuster.”
Both men lie near the center.
The crowd begins counting along with ‘Honest’ Abe.
“One!”
“Two!”
Neither man moves.
“Three!”
Taro Okami turns toward one side.
“Four!”
Kaen reaches one knee.
“Five!”
Both men rise.
Minute 25
Taro Okami closes before Kaen can establish another lift.
He locks both arms around the torso and launches him with another Belly-to-Belly Suplex.
Kaen crashes across the upper back.
Julian Ward: “The Belly-to-Belly Suplex lands cleanly. Kaen produces no answer.”
Taro Okami remains close.
He pulls Kaen away from the ropes and controls one wrist.
Kaen attempts to rise but falls back onto one knee.
Brick Brody: “That is the first uncontested minute Taro Okami has owned in some time. No Headbutt. No German Suplex. No Ushigoroshi.”
Julian Ward: “With five minutes remaining, control may become as important as damage. Taro Okami has forced Kaen to expend time and strength simply returning to his feet.”
The timekeeper announces five minutes remaining.
The crowd becomes louder.
Lord Kurogami looks toward the clock.
Taro Okami looks only toward Kaen.
Minute 26
Taro Okami catches the head and arm again.
He attempts to lock in another Arm Triangle.
Kaen recognizes the entry.
He drives one forearm beneath the ribs, turns toward the trapped side, and wedges his knee between their bodies.
The hold never closes.
Julian Ward: “Kaen neutralizes the Arm Triangle before Taro Okami can secure the pressure.”
Brick Brody: “That is adjustment. The first one became Ura Shouten. This time Kaen stopped the hands before the hold existed.”
Kaen shoves Taro Okami backward.
Neither man lands a follow-up.
Taro Okami circles again, but Kaen keeps his damaged arm close and refuses to extend.
Julian Ward: “No offense scored by Taro Okami, but the defense matters for Kaen. He has recognized another submission entry and denied it cleanly.”
The timekeeper announces four minutes remaining.
Both men glance briefly toward the clock.
The urgency becomes visible.
Minute 27
Kaen charges before Taro Okami can establish another hold.
Taro Okami steps beneath the arms and closes around the body.
Another Belly-to-Belly Suplex sends Kaen across the ring.
The impact echoes through the coliseum.
Julian Ward: “A second uncontested Belly-to-Belly Suplex in three minutes.”
Kaen attempts to roll through.
His damaged back refuses the movement.
He falls onto one side.
Brick Brody: “The repeated throws are finally accumulating. Kaen cannot rise through this one as quickly.”
Taro Okami moves toward him but does not cover.
He reaches for the head.
Kaen rolls beneath the bottom rope before another Guillotine can be secured.
‘Honest’ Abe orders Taro Okami back.
Julian Ward: “Complete control for Taro Okami, but the escape to the floor has consumed valuable time.”
Lord Kurogami stands beside Kaen without touching him.
The timekeeper announces three minutes remaining.
Kaen slides back into the ring at the referee’s command.
Minute 28
Taro Okami attacks immediately.
A Knee Strike catches Kaen in the face as he rises.
Kaen falls against the ropes but rebounds forward.
He moves behind Taro Okami and launches him with another German Suplex.
Both men crash to the mat.
Julian Ward: “Knee Strike from Taro Okami, answered by the German Suplex from Kaen.”
Brick Brody: “Two minutes remaining after this one. Neither man has time to recover properly.”
Taro Okami rolls onto one knee.
Kaen remains flat on his back, one hand pressed against the face.
Julian Ward: “The German Suplex produces the slightly greater damage, but both men have become increasingly slow after every exchange.”
The timekeeper announces two minutes remaining.
The crowd rises throughout the coliseum.
Lord Kurogami takes one step toward the apron.
‘Honest’ Abe immediately warns him away.
Minute 29
Taro Okami surges forward before Kaen can rise fully.
He tackles him to the canvas and begins another sequence of Ground and Pound.
A forearm lands.
Then a short elbow.
Then another forearm across the jaw.
Julian Ward: “Ground and Pound from Taro Okami. He has chosen control over another standing exchange.”
Kaen covers the head and attempts to turn toward the ropes.
Taro Okami shifts with him and keeps the body trapped.
At ringside, Lord Kurogami raises his hand.
Two fingers extend.
The Blood Oath Signal appears again.
Kaen sees it through the ropes.
He refuses to remain flat.
He forces himself toward one knee beneath the strikes.
Brick Brody: “The signal is keeping Kaen moving, but it is not stopping the punishment.”
Taro Okami drives one final forearm across the jaw and steps away before ‘Honest’ Abe can warn him.
Julian Ward: “The twenty-ninth minute belongs to Taro Okami. Lord Kurogami has reminded Kaen of his oath, but inspiration has not created offense.”
The timekeeper announces one minute remaining.
The crowd begins counting down beneath the noise.
Both men rise.
Neither looks toward the clock again.
Minute 30
Taro Okami and Kaen meet near the center.
The first tie-up ends without advantage.
They separate.
Kaen reaches for the waist.
Taro Okami breaks the grip.
Another approach ends with both men turning away before a throw can form.
Julian Ward: “Thirty seconds remain. Neither man has established the decisive position.”
Brick Brody: “Stop thinking. Somebody must strike.”
The crowd rises as the final seconds begin to disappear.
Taro Okami steps forward.
Kaen lowers his head.
Taro Okami drives a Knee Strike directly into the face.
At the same moment, Kaen throws himself forward with a Headbutt.
The forehead of Kaen crashes against the face of Taro Okami as the knee strikes upward.
Both men fall.
The timekeeper sounds the bell.
The crowd reacts with confusion before the meaning becomes clear.
‘Honest’ Abe immediately signals toward the timekeeper.
Louie Linville raises the microphone.
Louie Linville: “Ladies and gentlemen, the thirty-minute time limit has expired. This match has been declared a draw!”
A divided reaction moves through the coliseum.
Taro Okami rolls onto one side.
Blood appears beneath his nose from the final Headbutt.
Across the ring, Kaen sits against the bottom rope, one hand pressed against his jaw after the Knee Strike.
Neither man looks satisfied.
‘Honest’ Abe stands between them and confirms the result.
Taro Okami pushes himself upright.
Kaen uses the ropes to stand.
The two men move toward the center despite the bell.
‘Honest’ Abe raises both arms and orders them apart.
At ringside, Lord Kurogami climbs onto the apron.
The crowd grows louder.
He steps through the ropes.
Taro Okami turns toward him immediately.
Kaen stands between them.
For several seconds, the three men remain beneath the white ring light.
Lord Kurogami looks toward Taro Okami.
Then toward the blood beneath his nose.
A faint smile appears.
Not amusement.
Recognition.
Taro Okami wipes the blood away with the back of one hand.
Kaen takes one step forward.
Lord Kurogami places a hand against his shoulder.
The restraint stops him.
Lord Kurogami speaks quietly.
Lord Kurogami: “Thirty minutes.”
His gaze remains upon Taro Okami.
Lord Kurogami: “And still no proof.”
Taro Okami does not look away.
Taro Okami: “Thirty minutes.”
He looks toward Kaen.
Then back toward Lord Kurogami.
Taro Okami: “And still no confession.”
The crowd reacts.
The expression of Lord Kurogami remains unchanged.
He removes his hand from the shoulder of Kaen and turns toward the ropes.
Kaen continues staring at Taro Okami.
No acknowledgment passes between them.
No respect is offered.
Only the recognition that neither man was able to finish the other.
Lord Kurogami leaves the ring.
After several seconds, Kaen follows.
The red oni crest appears upon the stage screen as they begin walking up the ramp.
Inside the ring, Taro Okami remains near the center.
He watches the Blood Oni Syndicate retreat.
At the top of the ramp, Lord Kurogami stops.
He looks back once.
Taro Okami raises one hand toward him.
Not in challenge.
One finger points toward the plain black mask appearing again upon the screen.
Then the same finger turns toward Lord Kurogami.
The accusation remains.
Lord Kurogami gives no answer.
The red flames consume the mask.
He and Kaen disappear behind the curtain.
Julian Ward: “Thirty minutes have failed to separate Taro Okami and Kaen. Taro Okami repeatedly controlled the neck and arms through the Guillotine, Hunter’s Lock, the Reverse Cross Armbreaker, and the Arm Triangle. Kaen answered through Brainbusters, German Suplexes, repeated Ushigoroshi attacks, and the overwhelming force of the Ura Shouten.”
Brick Brody: “Both men had opportunities. Taro Okami trapped him in Hunter’s Lock twice. Kaen survived. Kaen nearly won with the Ushigoroshi at nineteen minutes. Taro Okami escaped. By the end, they had one minute left and abandoned everything except the knee and the skull.”
Julian Ward: “The result proves neither accusation nor innocence. It does establish that Taro Okami can stand against the direct violence of the Blood Oni Syndicate without surrendering his discipline. It also establishes that Kaen cannot be dismissed as merely the anger beneath the command of Lord Kurogami. Tonight, the question of the mask remains unresolved, and the conflict surrounding it has survived the full limit without conclusion.”
RESULT: TARO OKAMI AND KAEN BATTLE TO A THIRTY-MINUTE TIME-LIMIT DRAW.
The red oni crest remains upon the stage screen as Taro Okami leaves the ring.
Inside the ropes, ‘Honest’ Abe remains near the center, speaking with the timekeeper and confirming the thirty-minute draw.
At ringside, Lord Kurogami and Kaen have already started toward the entranceway.
Taro Okami steps through the ropes and drops to the floor.
His breathing remains heavy. Blood darkens the skin beneath his nose. One hand stays pressed against the back of his neck after the repeated Brainbusters, German Suplexes, and Ushigoroshi attacks.
He does not ask for assistance.
He begins walking up the ramp alone.
Julian Ward: “There is no satisfaction in the expression of Taro Okami. He survived thirty minutes against Kaen, but the draw has resolved nothing surrounding the black mask.”
Brick Brody: “It resolved one thing. Neither man could finish the other. That means this fight is going to continue until one of them stops getting back up.”
Near the top of the ramp, Lord Kurogami pauses.
Kaen stops beside him.
Neither turns fully toward Taro Okami.
The lights above the entranceway flicker.
White-blue lightning flashes across the stage screen.
A figure bursts through the side curtain.
Enrai strikes Taro Okami from behind.
A forearm crashes across the back of the neck.
Taro Okami falls forward onto the steel ramp.
The crowd erupts.
Julian Ward: “Enrai has attacked Taro Okami from behind!”
Brick Brody: “There is your answer from the Blood Oni Syndicate. Thirty minutes were not enough, so they waited until the match was over.”
Taro Okami rolls toward one knee.
Enrai drives a sharp kick into his ribs.
The impact turns Taro Okami onto his back.
Kaen looks toward Lord Kurogami.
The leader of the Blood Oni Syndicate gives no visible command.
He does not need to.
Kaen turns and charges down the ramp.
Taro Okami sees him coming.
He rises through the pain and throws a forearm into the face of Enrai.
Enrai staggers backward.
Before Taro Okami can follow, Kaen crashes into him with a running shoulder.
All three men fall against the ramp.
Julian Ward: “Taro Okami attempted to fight back, but Kaen has joined the assault.”
Brick Brody: “This is not a match anymore. There is no time limit, no referee between them, and no reason for Kaen or Enrai to stop.”
‘Honest’ Abe leaves the ring and begins running toward the entranceway.
Two officials follow him.
Kaen pulls Taro Okami upright by the back of the neck.
Enrai drives a knee into the abdomen.
Taro Okami folds forward.
Kaen clubs him across the upper back.
The blow sends Taro Okami to both knees.
Enrai circles behind him.
White-blue light flashes again.
Enrai drives a kick into the spine.
Taro Okami falls face-first against the steel.
The crowd fills the coliseum with boos.
At the top of the ramp, Lord Kurogami watches.
His hands remain folded behind his back.
His expression shows no anger.
No excitement.
Only observation.
Julian Ward: “This appears calculated. Lord Kurogami allowed Taro Okami to endure the entire match before directing no one to stop what followed.”
Brick Brody: “Do not pretend he needs to wave his arms. Kaen and Enrai know what he expects.”
Kaen drives one boot into the ribs of Taro Okami.
Enrai reaches down and forces him upright.
Taro Okami suddenly catches the arm.
He turns through the grip and throws Enrai across the ramp with a Judo Throw.
The crowd erupts.
Kaen attacks immediately.
Taro Okami catches him with a Knee Strike to the face.
Kaen staggers backward.
For one brief moment, Taro Okami stands between both members of Kaminari Hono.
His legs shake beneath him.
His breathing is uneven.
Blood runs from his nose and across his mouth.
Still, he raises both hands.
Brick Brody: “He is still trying to fight them.”
Julian Ward: “After thirty minutes against Kaen, Taro Okami is refusing to surrender the ramp.”
Enrai rises behind him.
A forearm strikes the back of the head.
Taro Okami falls into Kaen.
Kaen catches him.
The two members of Kaminari Hono lift Taro Okami together and drive him back-first onto the steel ramp.
The impact echoes through the coliseum.
Taro Okami lies motionless for several seconds.
‘Honest’ Abe reaches the scene.
Kaen shoves him aside.
The referee falls against the edge of the ramp.
The other officials hesitate.
Enrai pulls Taro Okami toward one knee.
Kaen begins circling for another Tokko Discus Lariat.
The arena lights turn red and gold.
A dragon’s roar tears through the building.
The crowd erupts.
The stage screen fills with white-gold fire.
Raigen storms through the curtain.
The Eternal Flame Championship is clutched in one hand.
His eyes lock immediately upon Kaen and Enrai.
Julian Ward: “The Eternal Flame Champion is here!”
Brick Brody: “Now the numbers have changed.”
Kaen abandons the Lariat and turns toward Raigen.
Raigen drives the championship into the chest of Kaen.
The impact sends Kaen backward.
Enrai releases Taro Okami and attacks.
Raigen blocks the first strike.
He answers with a forearm.
Then another.
Enrai stumbles toward the edge of the stage.
Kaen charges again.
Raigen steps aside and drives a Knee Lift into his body.
Kaen falls against the entrance structure.
Raigen raises the Eternal Flame Championship again.
Lord Kurogami finally moves.
One hand rises.
The signal is calm.
Absolute.
Enrai stops advancing.
Kaen looks toward Lord Kurogami with visible frustration.
Lord Kurogami lowers his hand and takes one step backward into the entranceway.
Enrai follows.
Kaen remains several feet from Raigen, fists clenched.
The champion gestures for him to continue.
Raigen does not speak.
The challenge is clear.
Kaen looks toward the fallen Taro Okami.
Then toward the championship in the hand of Raigen.
Lord Kurogami raises his hand again.
Kaen retreats.
The three members of the Blood Oni Syndicate disappear behind the curtain.
The red-and-gold light remains over the stage.
Raigen watches the entranceway for several seconds.
Only when the oni crest disappears does he lower the championship.
Behind him, Taro Okami begins pushing himself upright.
Raigen turns.
Taro Okami reaches one knee.
He attempts to stand.
His legs fail beneath him.
Raigen catches him by the forearm before he can fall.
The crowd reacts strongly.
For a moment, neither man speaks.
Taro Okami looks down at the hand gripping his arm.
Then he looks into the face of Raigen.
The suspicion from one week ago remains between them.
So does the choice made tonight.
Taro Okami wipes the blood from his mouth.
His voice is strained but steady.
Taro Okami: “I hope this is enough to prove to you I am not the masked attacker.”
The crowd grows quieter.
Raigen studies him.
He looks toward the entranceway where Lord Kurogami, Kaen, and Enrai disappeared.
Then toward the place on the ramp where the attack began.
Finally, his attention returns to Taro Okami.
Raigen: “It proves they wanted you broken.”
Taro Okami: “They wanted us divided.”
Raigen: “They failed.”
The crowd erupts.
Taro Okami holds the gaze of the champion.
Raigen releases his forearm and offers his hand openly.
Not an embrace.
Not complete forgiveness.
A deliberate choice.
Taro Okami takes it.
Raigen pulls him to his feet.
The two men stand together beneath the red-and-gold light.
Taro Okami remains unsteady, but he does not lean against the champion.
Raigen raises the Eternal Flame Championship in one hand.
With the other, he points toward the entranceway.
Raigen: “The next time the shadow moves, we face it together.”
Taro Okami gives one restrained nod.
Taro Okami: “Then we will see whose face remains hidden.”
At the commentary desk, Julian Ward watches the two men carefully.
Julian Ward: “The attack intended to deepen suspicion may instead have produced the alliance Lord Kurogami sought to prevent. Raigen has chosen to stand beside Taro Okami.”
Brick Brody: “Do not call it complete trust yet. Trust takes longer than one rescue. But when Kaen and Enrai attacked, Raigen did not wait for evidence. He came out fighting.”
Julian Ward: “One week ago, Raigen said trust required proof. Tonight, Taro Okami was attacked by the very men he accused, and the champion answered. The identity of the masked assailant remains unknown, but the division the mask was intended to create has not survived this night.”
Raigen and Taro Okami begin walking toward the entranceway.
They do not celebrate.
Both keep their eyes upon the darkness ahead.
The white-gold dragon flame burns behind them.
The plain black mask appears once more upon the stage screen.
This time, the image fractures down the center.
The screen cuts to black.
The image of the fractured black mask fades from the stage screen.
Red-and-gold fire gives way to darkness.
A ceremonial drum sounds.
Then another.
Green light spreads slowly across the entranceway as ancient scales emerge upon the central screen. Each bears the carved likeness of a different creature.
Dragon.
Serpent.
Leviathan.
Beasts preserved through memory rather than reduced to warning.
A folded ceremonial fan opens across the image.
Lady Ayame Ryu steps onto the stage.
She wears dark crimson, ivory, and restrained gold. Her posture is composed, but her expression remains severe after the attack that corrupted the Eternal Flame Championship match one week ago.
Two figures emerge behind her.
Hiro Tanenaga appears first.
He wears dark green, black, and bronze wrestling gear marked by overlapping scale patterns. His movements are controlled, his build powerful, and his eyes remain fixed upon the ring.
Masa Tanenaga steps beside him.
The crowd responds strongly.
Black tape crosses the portion of his back struck by the masked attacker’s kendo stick one week ago. His red, white, and gold ring gear remains unchanged, but his posture carries greater tension.
Together, the brothers stand beneath the name displayed upon the screen.
SCALEKEEPERS.
Julian Ward: “One week ago, Masa Tanenaga entered a two-out-of-three falls match seeking the Eternal Flame Championship. He lost the first fall to Raigen, but the second was taken from him when a masked assailant struck him across the back with a kendo stick.”
Brick Brody: “The record says two falls to none. The body of Masa Tanenaga says somebody interfered before he could return to the ring.”
Julian Ward: “Tonight, Masa Tanenaga returns beside his brother, Hiro Tanenaga. Together, they represent the Scalekeepers, an order devoted to protecting ancient creatures and traditions from those who would corrupt, control, or destroy them.”
Brick Brody: “That sounds honorable. The team waiting in the ring will not care.”
Lady Ayame Ryu lowers her fan.
The three begin walking down the ramp.
Hiro Tanenaga keeps himself half a step ahead of his brother, watching the entranceway and the crowd.
Masa Tanenaga looks briefly toward the section where the masked attacker appeared one week ago.
No figure stands there tonight.
At ringside, Lady Ayame Ryu takes her place near the corner post.
Hiro Tanenaga climbs onto the apron and enters through the middle rope.
Masa Tanenaga vaults over the top strand and lands beside him.
The brothers turn toward the entranceway.
The green light disappears.
A sword scrapes across stone.
The sound is slow.
Heavy.
A cracked iron crown appears upon the screen.
Black banners rise from a battlefield littered with broken shields. A ruined version of the crest of Camelot hangs upside down above the destruction.
A low horn sounds.
Myrrden emerges from the darkness.
He wears layered black robes beneath a deep hood. His staff rests in one hand, its surface carved with symbols that catch the pale light.
Behind him comes Sir Agravaine.
The crowd responds with hostility.
He wears dark silver and black armor-inspired ring gear marked by the fractured crest of the Broken Crown. His face carries resentment without agitation, as though every defeat has merely strengthened the grievance driving him.
The Black Knight follows.
His movements are slower than they were one week ago.
Dark tape is visible beneath the edges of his armor-inspired gear. One hand rests against his lower back after enduring repeated Backbreakers and four Iron Collisions from John Henry.
Julian Ward: “The Black Knight enters carrying the damage of his nineteen-minute contest against John Henry. His lower back was attacked repeatedly before the final Iron Collision ended the match.”
Brick Brody: “He should not be wrestling tonight.”
Julian Ward: “That is an unusually cautious statement from you.”
Brick Brody: “Caution has nothing to do with it. A damaged man can become a liability in a tag match. Sir Agravaine may spend the night trying to protect an armored partner who cannot protect himself.”
Myrrden leads the descent.
Sir Agravaine follows with his eyes upon the Scalekeepers.
The Black Knight walks several steps behind them. His posture remains straight through visible effort, but every descent of the damaged leg sends tension through his lower back.
At ringside, Myrrden stops opposite Lady Ayame Ryu.
The two managers exchange a long stare.
No acknowledgment passes between them.
Sir Agravaine enters first.
The Black Knight climbs onto the apron with greater difficulty.
Inside the ring, Hiro Tanenaga notices.
His attention settles immediately upon the taped back.
In the center, Louie Linville raises the microphone.
Louie Linville: “Ladies and gentlemen, this tag team contest is scheduled for one fall!”
The crowd responds loudly.
Louie Linville: “The referee assigned to this match is ‘Honest’ Abe.”
‘Honest’ Abe steps between the teams and warns both Lady Ayame Ryu and Myrrden to remain on the floor.
Louie Linville: “Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Lady Ayame Ryu. The disciplined guardians of ancient blood, Hiro Tanenaga and Masa Tanenaga. Together, they are the Scalekeepers!”
The crowd cheers.
Hiro Tanenaga lowers his head in a controlled bow.
Masa Tanenaga raises one hand.
Louie Linville: “And their opponents, accompanied to the ring by Myrrden. The embittered blade of the fallen court, Sir Agravaine, and the armored shadow that refuses burial, the Black Knight!”
Boos spread through the coliseum.
Sir Agravaine raises one fist.
The Black Knight remains near the ropes, one hand still pressed against his lower back.
‘Honest’ Abe gives both teams their final instructions.
Masa Tanenaga steps onto the apron.
Sir Agravaine withdraws to his corner.
Hiro Tanenaga begins against the Black Knight.
The bell rings.
Minute 1
The Black Knight advances slowly.
Hiro Tanenaga does not wait for the armored competitor to establish his base.
He catches one wrist, drops beneath the arm, and scissors both legs around the shoulder.
The Scissored Armbar is secured.
Julian Ward: “Immediate pressure upon the arm and shoulder from Hiro Tanenaga.”
The Black Knight attempts to turn.
Pain shoots through his lower back before the movement can be completed.
His body stiffens.
Brick Brody: “There is the injury. He cannot rotate through the hold without forcing the damaged back to carry him.”
Hiro Tanenaga extends the arm and pulls the shoulder away from the torso.
‘Honest’ Abe asks whether the Black Knight submits.
The armored competitor gives no answer.
He reaches toward the ropes but remains several feet away.
Julian Ward: “The Black Knight is unable to construct a defense. Hiro Tanenaga identified the physical limitation immediately and has prevented him from using either strength or movement.”
Sir Agravaine reaches through the ropes and calls toward his partner.
The Black Knight drags himself far enough to touch the lower strand.
‘Honest’ Abe orders the break.
Hiro Tanenaga releases immediately.
The Black Knight pulls himself upright using the ropes.
His injured back has already become the center of the match.
Minute 2
The Black Knight attempts to reach his corner.
Hiro Tanenaga catches both arms from behind.
He pulls the armored competitor away from Sir Agravaine, turns him into position, and lifts.
The Black Knight cannot lower his weight quickly enough to prevent the elevation.
Hiro Tanenaga drives him down with a Sitout Double Underhook Powerbomb.
The ring shakes.
Julian Ward: “The Sitout Double Underhook Powerbomb lands directly across the damaged back.”
Brick Brody: “That is not strategy anymore. That is target practice.”
Hiro Tanenaga maintains the seated position but does not attempt a cover.
He keeps control of one wrist and pulls the Black Knight away from the corner.
Julian Ward: “The inability of the Black Knight to defend has allowed Hiro Tanenaga to dictate every position. He is being isolated before Sir Agravaine has entered the match.”
Myrrden strikes the base of his staff once against the floor.
The sound reaches the Black Knight.
He raises his head but cannot rise without using the ropes.
Hiro Tanenaga remains between him and the opposing corner.
Minute 3
The Black Knight reaches one knee.
Hiro Tanenaga catches both arms again.
The armored competitor attempts to widen his stance.
The damaged back collapses beneath the effort.
Hiro Tanenaga lifts and drives him down with a second Sitout Double Underhook Powerbomb.
The impact echoes through the coliseum.
Julian Ward: “A second consecutive Powerbomb from Hiro Tanenaga. The Black Knight remains unable to protect the injured spine.”
Brick Brody: “Sir Agravaine should enter illegally if he has to. His partner has spent three minutes being dismantled without landing one attack.”
Sir Agravaine steps through the ropes.
‘Honest’ Abe turns and orders him back to the apron.
The attempted intervention briefly distracts the official.
Masa Tanenaga extends his hand toward his brother.
Hiro Tanenaga pulls the Black Knight toward the corner of the Scalekeepers.
Julian Ward: “The opening three minutes belong completely to the Scalekeepers. The injury carried from last week has left the Black Knight unable to defend against sustained lifting offense.”
Lady Ayame Ryu opens her fan.
One precise signal is given.
The brothers prepare to attack together.
Minute 4
Hiro Tanenaga tags Masa Tanenaga.
Both brothers enter.
Hiro Tanenaga traps the arms of the Black Knight and prepares another Sitout Double Underhook Powerbomb.
Masa Tanenaga moves toward the head, positioning for an Ace Crusher during the descent.
Julian Ward: “The Scalekeepers are attempting a coordinated Powerbomb and Ace Crusher.”
The Black Knight suddenly drops his weight.
The damaged back nearly gives beneath him, but he twists free of Hiro Tanenaga’s grip before the lift can be completed.
He shoves Masa Tanenaga into his brother.
The two members of the Scalekeepers collide.
Brick Brody: “He reversed it. The Black Knight finally found movement when both brothers gave him something to move between.”
Hiro Tanenaga and Masa Tanenaga separate defensively.
The Black Knight reaches the ropes.
He jumps onto the middle strand.
The crowd rises in disbelief.
Julian Ward: “The injured Black Knight is climbing.”
He launches backward.
The armored body twists through the air and crashes across both brothers with a Springboard 450 Splash.
All three men hit the canvas.
Brick Brody: “That is madness. He could barely stand, and he just threw the damaged back through a 450 Splash.”
Julian Ward: “The double-team is completely reversed. The Black Knight produces his first offense of the match through an attack that may have caused as much damage to himself as to his opponents.”
The Black Knight rolls onto his side, one hand clutching the lower back.
Hiro Tanenaga lies near the ropes.
Masa Tanenaga turns toward one knee.
Sir Agravaine extends his hand urgently from the corner.
The Black Knight begins crawling toward him.
Minute 5
Before the tag can be completed, Hiro Tanenaga catches the ankle of the Black Knight.
Sir Agravaine enters.
Masa Tanenaga steps through the ropes in response.
All four competitors collide.
Julian Ward: “The ring has broken down. All four men are inside.”
Sir Agravaine catches Hiro Tanenaga from behind.
He locks both arms around the waist and launches him across the ring with a Release German Suplex.
Hiro Tanenaga crashes near the ropes.
Brick Brody: “Sir Agravaine has finally entered, and he immediately removes Hiro Tanenaga from the center.”
Across the ring, Masa Tanenaga jumps and throws a Pele Kick over his own back.
The heel catches the Black Knight against the side of the helmet.
The armored competitor falls through the ropes and lands on the floor.
Julian Ward: “The Pele Kick sends the Black Knight outside.”
Masa Tanenaga turns toward Sir Agravaine.
Before he can attack, the Black Knight rises on the floor through visible pain.
He grabs the top rope and launches himself toward the ring.
The Black Knight turns through an Asai Moonsault.
He catches Masa Tanenaga’s head during the descent and drives him into the canvas with a DDT.
The crowd reacts sharply.
Brick Brody: “Asai Moonsault into the DDT. The injured man continues doing everything the injury should prevent.”
The momentum carries the Black Knight back through the ropes and onto the floor.
Inside the ring, Sir Agravaine pulls Hiro Tanenaga upright after the German Suplex.
Hiro Tanenaga breaks the grip and runs toward the ropes.
He dives through them with a Suicide Dive.
The full force crashes into the Black Knight on the floor.
Both men strike the barricade.
Julian Ward: “The Suicide Dive from Hiro Tanenaga drives the Black Knight into the barricade.”
‘Honest’ Abe forces Sir Agravaine and Masa Tanenaga toward their corners.
The official confirms the Black Knight as the legal competitor.
He turns toward the floor and begins counting.
“One!”
The Black Knight lies beside the barricade.
Hiro Tanenaga rises first and moves toward the ring.
“Two!”
Myrrden approaches the injured competitor.
He does not touch him.
“Three!”
The Black Knight presses both hands against the floor.
His back gives beneath him.
“Four!”
Hiro Tanenaga slides into the ring.
“Five!”
Sir Agravaine reaches through the ropes and calls toward his partner.
“Six!”
The Black Knight pulls himself onto one knee using the barricade.
“Seven!”
Myrrden strikes his staff against the floor.
“Eight!”
The Black Knight attempts to stand.
His injured back refuses the movement.
“Nine!”
He reaches toward the apron from several feet away.
“Ten!”
‘Honest’ Abe calls for the bell.
The crowd erupts.
Louie Linville raises the microphone.
Louie Linville: “Here are your winners by count-out, Hiro Tanenaga and Masa Tanenaga, the Scalekeepers!”
Green light spreads across the arena.
Inside the ring, Hiro Tanenaga joins his brother near the center.
Masa Tanenaga presses one hand against his head after the Asai Moonsault DDT.
Hiro Tanenaga favors his ribs after the Release German Suplex.
Lady Ayame Ryu enters and takes her place between them.
She raises one arm belonging to each brother.
On the floor, the Black Knight remains near the barricade.
Myrrden stands over him.
Sir Agravaine leaves the ring and approaches with visible anger.
He looks first toward the Black Knight.
Then toward Myrrden.
Sir Agravaine: “He was not fit to stand.”
Myrrden: “Yet he stood.”
Sir Agravaine: “And now we have lost.”
The hood of Myrrden turns toward him.
Myrrden: “A wound revealed is not always a defeat.”
Sir Agravaine: “The record will call it one.”
Myrrden: “Records measure outcomes.”
His eyes move toward the injured Black Knight.
Myrrden: “We measure what remains useful after them.”
The words do not satisfy Sir Agravaine.
He turns toward the ring.
The Scalekeepers remain standing beneath the green light.
Masa Tanenaga looks toward the fallen Black Knight.
There is no celebration in his expression.
He understands the violence of a count-out decided through damage outside the ring better than most.
Julian Ward: “The Scalekeepers prevail by count-out after only five minutes, but the result was shaped by the condition of the Black Knight before the opening bell.”
Brick Brody: “He spent the first three minutes unable to defend himself. Then he reversed a double-team, landed a Springboard 450 Splash, and later produced that Asai Moonsault DDT. The man fought as though the injury were an insult.”
Julian Ward: “That resistance came at a cost. The Pele Kick sent him outside, and the Suicide Dive of Hiro Tanenaga drove him into the barricade. The damaged back could not carry him to the ring before the count reached ten.”
Brick Brody: “The Broken Crown sent a wounded knight into battle and expected willpower to replace a functioning spine. It nearly worked. Nearly does not change the result.”
Julian Ward: “For Hiro Tanenaga and Masa Tanenaga, this victory establishes the Scalekeepers as a coordinated force within the tag team ranks. For Sir Agravaine, Myrrden, and the Black Knight, the defeat presents a more severe question. Whether the Broken Crown is strengthening its knights through hardship or consuming them before they can serve its greater war.”
Inside the ring, Lady Ayame Ryu lowers her fan.
The brothers stand beside her.
Across the floor, Sir Agravaine and Myrrden help the Black Knight rise.
The injured competitor refuses to lean fully upon either man.
He looks back toward the Scalekeepers.
The green scales on the stage screen close around the fractured crown.
Neither symbol disappears.
RESULT: THE SCALEKEEPERS DEFEAT SIR AGRAVAINE AND THE BLACK KNIGHT BY COUNT-OUT AT THE 5-MINUTE MARK AFTER THE BLACK KNIGHT FAILS TO RETURN TO THE RING FOLLOWING MASA TANENAGA’S PELE KICK AND HIRO TANENAGA’S SUICIDE DIVE.
The camera cuts backstage inside Scrooge’s Camelot Coliseum.
The noise from the arena reaches the stone corridors as a distant, uneven roar. Production assistants move quickly past the lens while officials continue discussing the confrontation involving Taro Okami, Raigen, and the Blood Oni Syndicate.
Hana Nakamura walks beside the camera crew with a microphone in hand.
She approaches the private dressing chamber reserved for the reigning Mythic Crown Champion.
The corridor changes as they draw closer.
Common torch brackets give way to polished silver sconces. Blue banners bearing the crest of Camelot hang against the stone. Two ceremonial shields stand on either side of a heavy wooden door reinforced with gold fittings.
The door is partially open.
Hana Nakamura slows.
A voice can be heard from within.
Quiet.
Male.
Controlled.
The camera moves closer.
Inside the chamber, King Arthur stands beside a long preparation table. He is already dressed for competition in blue, white, and gold ring gear. The Mythic Crown Championship rests upon a raised stand near his right hand.
Merlin stands several feet away beside a narrow stone window.
His staff is planted against the floor.
His attention is not upon the championship.
It is upon the man standing across from King Arthur.
The stranger is compact and highly conditioned, appearing to be in his early forties. His physique carries the density of a lifelong technical wrestler rather than the exaggerated size of a powerhouse.
Strong shoulders.
A thick upper back.
Heavy forearms.
Powerful legs beneath dark tailored trousers.
A narrow waist beneath a fitted charcoal waistcoat and black formal coat.
His face is sharply defined and aristocratic. A prominent but refined nose divides cold dark-brown eyes. His mouth remains controlled, revealing neither warmth nor irritation.
Dark hair has been slicked neatly backward.
Subtle streaks of silver mark both temples.
A precisely trimmed short beard outlines the jaw.
He stands neither as a servant nor as a guest seeking approval.
He appears to be evaluating the room.
The championship.
The king.
The ancient wizard.
Each is measured according to usefulness.
King Arthur notices the movement beyond the door.
His gaze shifts briefly toward Hana Nakamura and the approaching camera.
The stranger sees the change.
He turns slightly toward the corridor.
King Arthur: “Severin.”
The name is not offered as an introduction.
It is spoken as the conclusion of a private discussion.
Severin adjusts one cuff.
His attention remains upon King Arthur.
Severin: “Think about my proposition. You will not regret taking the offer.”
The words carry no urgency.
No request for an immediate answer.
They sound less like persuasion than a reminder that the decision has already begun creating consequences.
Severin turns toward the door.
He passes Hana Nakamura without stopping.
His eyes settle upon her for only a moment.
There is no recognition in the look.
Only assessment.
Whether the interviewer possesses information.
Whether she presents leverage.
Whether she matters.
The same measured gaze passes across the camera crew.
Then Severin continues down the corridor.
His footsteps remain calm and evenly spaced until he disappears around a stone archway.
The camera holds upon the empty corridor.
Hana Nakamura looks after him.
Then back toward the dressing chamber.
King Arthur lifts the Mythic Crown Championship from its stand and places it across his shoulder.
Merlin remains beside the window.
His expression reveals nothing.
Hana Nakamura steps into the chamber.
Hana Nakamura: “King Arthur, we were expecting to speak with you and Merlin before your match tonight.”
King Arthur: “And now you may.”
His voice is composed.
There is no apology for the delay.
Hana Nakamura: “Before we discuss Heracles, may I ask who that man was?”
King Arthur: “You heard his name.”
Hana Nakamura: “Severin.”
King Arthur: “Yes.”
Hana Nakamura: “What proposition did he make?”
A brief silence follows.
King Arthur adjusts the championship upon his shoulder.
King Arthur: “A private proposition.”
Hana Nakamura: “Does it concern the Mythic Division?”
King Arthur: “Every serious conversation conducted with its champion concerns the division eventually.”
The answer is calm.
It closes the subject without denying its importance.
Hana Nakamura recognizes the boundary.
She turns toward the championship.
Hana Nakamura: “Then let us discuss what you made public one week ago.”
The stage screen inside the arena begins carrying the backstage feed.
The crowd responds when King Arthur appears.
Hana Nakamura: “Last week, you issued what you called a decree over the Mythic Division.”
Brief footage appears beside the interview image.
The crest of Camelot.
The Blood Oni Syndicate.
The Broken Crown.
The forces of Monster Bash.
The seal of Nottingham.
The arrow of Robin Hood.
The words spoken by the champion appear one after another.
Monsters will be confronted.
Syndicates will be broken.
False kings will be cast down.
Order will be restored.
Hana Nakamura: “You declared that monsters, syndicates, rival courts, and those acting beneath hidden authority would all be brought beneath the same judgment.”
King Arthur: “The judgment of the Crown.”
Hana Nakamura: “Some have described that declaration as necessary leadership.”
A beat passes.
Hana Nakamura: “Others have described it as an attempt to place the entire division beneath your personal command.”
The crowd inside the arena reacts.
King Arthur shows no anger.
If anything, the question appears to confirm something he already expected.
King Arthur: “Those who benefit from disorder always describe authority as oppression.”
Hana Nakamura: “Even those who stand beside you have expressed concern.”
Her attention shifts toward Merlin.
Hana Nakamura: “Merlin said that order is not silence and that loyalty is not the absence of question.”
Merlin steps away from the window.
Merlin: “I said what was necessary.”
King Arthur: “And I heard him.”
Hana Nakamura: “Did you accept his warning?”
King Arthur: “I accepted that a king must distinguish between disagreement and rebellion.”
Hana Nakamura: “And who makes that distinction?”
King Arthur looks directly into the camera.
King Arthur: “The king.”
The response produces a divided reaction from the arena.
Some cheer.
Others answer with boos.
Merlin watches King Arthur from several feet away.
His hands remain folded over the top of his staff.
Hana Nakamura: “Last week, that decree was followed immediately by your match against Ares.”
Footage appears.
Zeus raises the lightning staff.
White light strikes the ring post.
Ares attacks from behind.
King Arthur survives the interference, delivers two King’s Decrees, and finishes the match with the Short-Arm Clothesline.
Hana Nakamura: “You defeated the god of war despite the interference of Zeus.”
King Arthur: “Last week, we brought a god to heel.”
His hand closes around the edge of the championship.
King Arthur: “Ares entered believing war granted him authority.”
King Arthur: “He entered believing violence existed above law.”
King Arthur: “He entered believing that because men had feared him across centuries, a mortal crown must lower itself before his name.”
The champion’s expression hardens.
King Arthur: “Then the bell rang.”
The footage shows the final Short-Arm Clothesline.
Ares falls.
The count reaches three.
King Arthur: “And the god of war discovered that mythology does not prevent defeat.”
The footage disappears.
Hana Nakamura: “Tonight, you face Heracles.”
The image of the demigod fills the screen.
Marble pillars.
The lion skin.
A heavy club striking stone.
Hana Nakamura: “Unlike Ares, Heracles has not declared war upon Camelot.”
King Arthur: “Not yet.”
Hana Nakamura: “Do you consider him an enemy?”
King Arthur: “An enemy declares opposition.”
He turns slightly toward the image of Heracles.
King Arthur: “Heracles has declared strength.”
Hana Nakamura: “His legend was built through labor, endurance, and trials many believed impossible.”
King Arthur: “Yes.”
There is no mockery in the answer.
King Arthur: “Heracles possesses extraordinary strength.”
King Arthur: “He has endured burdens that would crush ordinary men.”
King Arthur: “He has confronted creatures whose names survived only because he defeated them.”
His eyes narrow.
King Arthur: “That is why tonight matters.”
Hana Nakamura: “Because he may be strong enough to defeat you?”
King Arthur: “Because he may be strong enough to mistake power for authority.”
The room becomes still.
King Arthur: “Strength deserves recognition.”
The championship shifts upon his shoulder.
King Arthur: “It does not create sovereignty.”
King Arthur: “Labor deserves respect.”
King Arthur: “It does not create law.”
King Arthur: “Legend may lift a man above those who cannot equal his accomplishments.”
A pause follows.
King Arthur: “It does not lift him above the Crown.”
The crowd responds loudly.
King Arthur steps closer to Hana Nakamura and the camera.
His voice does not rise.
The certainty within it becomes heavier.
King Arthur: “Last week, we brought a god to heel.”
He looks toward the image of Heracles.
King Arthur: “Tonight, we will bring a demigod to heel.”
The arena reaction grows.
King Arthur: “Not because Heracles is weak.”
King Arthur: “Not because his legend is false.”
King Arthur: “Not because the labors attached to his name are unworthy of remembrance.”
His hand rests upon the center plate of the Mythic Crown Championship.
King Arthur: “Because every force entering this division must understand where strength ends and authority begins.”
Hana Nakamura: “And where does it begin?”
King Arthur: “Here.”
He lifts the championship slightly.
Gold catches the light.
King Arthur: “With the Crown.”
Hana Nakamura: “Then tonight’s non-title match is another part of your decree.”
King Arthur: “It is its continuation.”
He looks directly into the camera.
King Arthur: “Whether you are monster.”
The image of Frankenstein’s Monster appears briefly upon the monitor behind him.
King Arthur: “God.”
The fallen image of Ares follows.
King Arthur: “Demigod.”
The image of Heracles returns.
King Arthur: “Demon.”
Dark shapes pass across the screen.
King Arthur: “Man.”
The faces of rival challengers appear.
King Arthur: “Or whatever name you place between yourself and consequence.”
His voice lowers.
King Arthur: “You will respect the Crown.”
The words settle over the dressing chamber.
King Arthur: “That is not a request.”
He steps forward.
King Arthur: “It is another edict.”
The crowd erupts into competing cheers and boos.
Hana Nakamura keeps the microphone raised.
Hana Nakamura: “What does respecting the Crown require?”
King Arthur: “Recognition.”
Hana Nakamura: “Obedience?”
King Arthur: “Stability requires obedience to law.”
Hana Nakamura: “And if someone believes the law is wrong?”
King Arthur: “Then they may stand openly, declare their objection, and accept the consequence of challenging it.”
Hana Nakamura: “That sounds less like permission to disagree and more like a warning against doing so.”
King Arthur: “Permission is not protection.”
The answer comes immediately.
King Arthur: “A man may possess the right to challenge a king.”
He touches the championship again.
King Arthur: “The king possesses the right to answer.”
Merlin: “Respect and obedience are not the same.”
The interruption changes the room.
King Arthur turns toward his counselor.
Merlin steps closer.
Merlin: “Obedience may be compelled.”
His eyes move toward the Mythic Crown Championship.
Merlin: “Respect must be earned.”
King Arthur: “Then last week earned it.”
Merlin: “Last week proved you could defeat Ares.”
King Arthur: “A god answered the Crown and fell.”
Merlin: “A warrior answered a champion and lost.”
The distinction produces another reaction from the arena.
King Arthur studies Merlin.
King Arthur: “You continue dividing the symbol from the man who carries it.”
Merlin: “Because one must survive the failures of the other.”
Hana Nakamura looks between them.
Neither man appears willing to retreat.
King Arthur: “The Crown survived Mordred.”
King Arthur: “It survived Frankenstein’s Monster.”
King Arthur: “It survived Ares.”
Merlin: “Because you defended it.”
King Arthur: “Then you have made my argument.”
Merlin: “No.”
The answer is quiet.
Merlin: “I have stated your obligation.”
A long silence follows.
Merlin: “The Crown does not make every victory righteous.”
Merlin: “Victory proves that power remained in your hands.”
Merlin: “What you choose to do with that power determines whether men respect it or merely fear its arrival.”
The expression of King Arthur remains controlled.
King Arthur: “Fear is not my purpose.”
Merlin: “Purpose does not always determine consequence.”
The earlier words of Severin seem to return to the chamber.
Proposition.
Offer.
Consequence.
King Arthur glances briefly toward the open door through which Severin departed.
Hana Nakamura notices.
King Arthur: “Tonight, Heracles receives no punishment.”
His eyes return to Merlin.
King Arthur: “He receives a test.”
Merlin: “And if he passes?”
King Arthur: “He will not.”
The answer comes without hesitation.
King Arthur turns back toward Hana Nakamura.
King Arthur: “Heracles is strong.”
King Arthur: “He is celebrated.”
King Arthur: “He has been told that impossible labor grants him a place beyond ordinary judgment.”
The champion’s expression becomes colder.
King Arthur: “That belief is the weakness inside his strength.”
King Arthur: “A man who survives impossible burdens begins to believe every structure exists merely to provide another obstacle for him to overcome.”
King Arthur: “Tonight, he will discover that the Crown is not a labor.”
A pause.
King Arthur: “It is authority.”
Hana Nakamura: “And if he refuses to acknowledge that authority?”
King Arthur: “Then the bell will teach him.”
King Arthur moves toward the door.
Merlin remains in place.
Before leaving, King Arthur stops beside his counselor.
King Arthur: “Will you stand in my corner?”
Merlin looks toward him.
Merlin: “I will stand beside Camelot.”
The response is not identical to what was asked.
King Arthur understands.
King Arthur: “Tonight, that is the same place.”
He leaves the dressing chamber with the Mythic Crown Championship across his shoulder.
The camera follows him briefly into the corridor.
Blue banners move in the draft behind him.
He walks in the same direction taken by Severin.
The champion does not look back.
Inside the room, Hana Nakamura turns toward Merlin.
Hana Nakamura: “You did not say you would stand beside the king.”
Merlin: “A counselor who promises agreement before hearing the decision has ceased to counsel.”
Hana Nakamura: “Do you know what Severin offered him?”
Merlin looks toward the empty doorway.
Merlin: “No.”
Hana Nakamura: “Does that concern you?”
Merlin: “A threat declares what it intends to take.”
He tightens both hands around his staff.
Merlin: “An offer asks what a man is willing to surrender voluntarily.”
His expression darkens.
Merlin: “Those are often more dangerous.”
Hana Nakamura: “Who is Severin?”
Merlin takes several seconds before answering.
Merlin: “A man who understands leverage.”
Hana Nakamura: “Is he an ally?”
Merlin: “Men such as Severin do not measure relationships through affection.”
Merlin: “They measure obligation.”
He begins walking toward the door.
Hana Nakamura: “And what obligation does King Arthur owe him?”
Merlin stops.
He does not turn around.
Merlin: “That is the question hidden inside the proposition.”
Merlin leaves the chamber.
Hana Nakamura remains beside the preparation table.
The raised stand where the Mythic Crown Championship had rested is now empty.
The camera moves closer.
Upon the polished surface beside it lies a single black card.
No name appears upon it.
Only a silver image of a closed hand holding a key.
Hana Nakamura reaches toward the card.
Before she touches it, the camera feed cuts back to ringside.
At the commentary desk, Julian Ward looks toward the stage screen.
Julian Ward: “One week after placing the Mythic Division beneath the judgment of the Crown, King Arthur has issued another edict. Monster, god, demigod, demon, or man, every force will be required to acknowledge his authority.”
Brick Brody: “That is what champions are supposed to say. The man carrying the highest title should not apologize for believing everyone else stands beneath him.”
Julian Ward: “But the disagreement with Merlin continues. The champion speaks of respect. His counselor warns that obedience created through fear cannot become loyalty.”
Brick Brody: “Respect becomes easier after a Short-Arm Clothesline. Ares learned that last week. Heracles can learn it tonight.”
Julian Ward: “And another question has entered the royal chamber. A man identified only as Severin has made an undisclosed proposition to the champion.”
Brick Brody: “Kings receive offers.”
Julian Ward: “This one appeared confident that acceptance would follow.”
Brick Brody: “Then perhaps it is a good offer.”
Julian Ward: “Or one whose cost has not yet been made visible.”
The stage screen briefly shows the silver hand holding the key.
The image turns slowly.
Then closes into darkness.
The camera returns to the interior of Scrooge’s Camelot Coliseum.
The silver image of a closed hand holding a key remains upon the central screen.
It turns once.
Then disappears.
A low murmur moves through the crowd as the camera rises away from the ring and searches the upper levels of the building.
High above the arena floor, beyond the banners and torchlit stone arches, one private observation deck remains only partially illuminated.
A solitary figure stands behind its iron railing.
Severin.
He has removed the formal coat worn inside the dressing chamber. A fitted charcoal waistcoat reveals the dense shoulders, thick forearms, and narrow waist of a man built through years of technical competition rather than ceremony.
Both hands rest lightly upon the railing.
His dark hair remains slicked neatly backward. Silver marks both temples. His sharply defined face carries no excitement at the approaching contest.
He watches the ring as though reviewing the terms of an agreement.
The camera holds upon him.
Severin notices.
His cold eyes move toward the lens.
For one brief moment, the audience receives the same measured inspection he gave Hana Nakamura backstage.
Then his attention returns to the ring.
Julian Ward: “Before this contest, we found King Arthur speaking privately with the man now watching from the upper deck. The champion identified him only as Severin.”
Brick Brody: “He made an offer. The king has not told us what it was, and Merlin does not appear to know either.”
Julian Ward: “Whatever the proposition involved, Severin has chosen to remain and observe the champion against one of the most powerful figures ever to emerge from Olympus.”
Brick Brody: “That tells me the offer concerns results. Men do not watch from private balconies because they enjoy the view. They watch because somebody inside the ring is being evaluated.”
The camera lowers toward the entranceway.
White marble columns rise across the stage screen.
A mountain appears behind them beneath a storm-filled sky.
Ancient carvings emerge one after another.
A lion.
A hydra.
A three-headed hound.
A golden hind.
Each image fractures beneath the force of a wooden club.
Thunder rolls through the coliseum.
A bolt of white-gold lightning strikes the stage.
Zeus emerges through the smoke.
The crowd responds loudly.
He wears white-and-gold ceremonial attire beneath a long cloak. His lightning staff rests in one hand. His expression remains severe after watching Ares fall to the Mythic Crown Champion one week ago.
Zeus raises the staff.
The thunder stops.
A deep impact follows.
The stage appears to shake.
Heracles steps through the smoke.
The reaction becomes thunderous.
A lion skin rests across his broad shoulders. His wrestling gear carries bronze, dark red, and weathered gold. His physique is immense, built through labor and violent trial rather than display.
He carries no club tonight.
He requires none.
Heracles looks toward the ring.
Then toward the upper deck.
His eyes settle briefly upon Severin.
The stranger offers no reaction.
Heracles turns back toward the ring.
Julian Ward: “The legend of Heracles was not built through conquest alone. It was built through imposed labor, impossible punishment, and the endurance required to complete trials designed to destroy him.”
Brick Brody: “That is what separates him from Ares. Ares believes violence is his birthright. Heracles earned his reputation one burden at a time.”
Julian Ward: “Earlier tonight, King Arthur acknowledged that strength. But the champion also described the belief created by that strength as a weakness.”
Brick Brody: “The king believes Heracles has spent too long overcoming every obstacle placed before him. Tonight, the obstacle has a championship and a very high opinion of its own authority.”
Zeus begins walking down the ramp.
Heracles follows.
The crowd reaches toward the demigod from both sides of the barricade. He acknowledges them with one raised fist but never breaks stride.
At ringside, Zeus stops near the corner post.
He looks toward the upper deck.
This time, Severin gives the ruler of Olympus a slight nod.
Not respect.
Recognition.
Zeus does not return it.
Heracles climbs onto the apron and steps over the top rope.
He walks to the center of the ring and raises both arms.
The crowd responds with a deep roar.
The marble imagery fades.
A ceremonial trumpet sounds.
Blue-and-gold light spreads across the coliseum.
The crest of Camelot fills the stage screen.
For several seconds, it remains whole.
Then a golden spear strikes through it, recalling the challenge of Ares one week ago.
The fractured crest reforms.
Stronger.
A sword descends through its center.
A full royal fanfare rises.
Merlin steps onto the stage.
His deep blue-and-silver robes move beneath the entrance light. His staff rests in one hand, but his expression remains thoughtful after the disagreement inside the royal dressing chamber.
The fanfare grows louder.
King Arthur emerges behind him.
The building erupts into competing cheers and boos.
The Mythic Crown Championship rests across his shoulder. He wears blue, white, and gold armor-inspired ring gear. His chin is raised, and his posture carries the certainty expressed only minutes earlier.
Monster.
God.
Demigod.
Demon.
Man.
All will respect the Crown.
Julian Ward: “One week ago, King Arthur issued a Royal Order over the Mythic Division, then defeated Ares in the ring. Tonight, he has declared this contest the continuation of that decree.”
Brick Brody: “He called it another edict. Heracles may not consider himself an enemy of Camelot, but the king does not require hostility before demanding acknowledgment.”
Julian Ward: “The championship is not being defended. Yet the authority attached to it is central to everything King Arthur has said.”
Brick Brody: “A non-title defeat would give every monster, syndicate, false king, and rogue named in that decree a reason to laugh. The belt may be protected, but the throne is not.”
Merlin starts down the ramp.
King Arthur follows several steps behind him.
The champion looks toward Heracles.
Then his gaze rises.
He sees Severin standing in the upper deck.
The two men hold one another’s attention across the coliseum.
Severin does not applaud.
He does not smile.
He simply waits.
King Arthur continues toward the ring.
At ringside, Merlin stops opposite Zeus.
The two ancient figures meet one another’s gaze.
The tension from the previous week remains.
King Arthur climbs the steps and enters through the ropes.
He removes the Mythic Crown Championship from his shoulder and presents it to Merlin.
The wizard accepts it carefully.
King Arthur walks toward the center.
Heracles meets him.
The demigod stands broader.
The king stands straighter.
Neither man offers a hand.
Louie Linville moves between them and raises the microphone.
Louie Linville: “Ladies and gentlemen, this contest is scheduled for one fall with a thirty-minute time limit!”
The crowd responds loudly.
Louie Linville: “The Mythic Crown Championship is not on the line.”
A mixed reaction moves through the building.
Louie Linville: “The referee assigned to this contest is ‘Honest’ Abe.”
‘Honest’ Abe steps forward.
He looks first toward Zeus.
Then toward Merlin.
Both men are warned to remain on the floor and refrain from influencing the contest.
Louie Linville: “Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Zeus. The bearer of impossible labors, the lion-hearted strength of Olympus, the demigod who endured what lesser men could not survive, Heracles!”
The crowd erupts.
Heracles raises one massive fist.
Zeus stands behind him with the lightning staff held upright.
Louie Linville: “And his opponent, accompanied to the ring by Merlin. He is the reigning Mythic Crown Champion, the sovereign blade of Camelot, King Arthur!”
The divided reaction becomes louder.
King Arthur raises one arm.
His eyes remain upon Heracles.
‘Honest’ Abe gives both men their final instructions.
Heracles lowers his stance.
King Arthur raises both hands.
The bell rings.
Minute 1
King Arthur moves first.
He reaches for the wrist of Heracles, attempting to draw the larger man into the center.
Heracles widens his base and pulls free.
The champion circles and searches for another angle.
Heracles follows without overcommitting.
Julian Ward: “A cautious opening from King Arthur. He is attempting to test the balance of Heracles before entering a direct contest of strength.”
Brick Brody: “That is wise. Everybody knows Heracles can lift him. The king needs to learn whether he can move him first.”
King Arthur reaches for the head.
Heracles catches both wrists and forces the champion backward.
King Arthur turns through the grip and escapes before being driven into the corner.
No attack lands.
At ringside, Merlin raises his staff.
A pale blue light forms at its tip.
It does not flash.
It pulses.
Once.
Then again.
‘Honest’ Abe turns toward it.
The referee’s expression becomes vacant.
His eyes remain fixed upon the light.
Julian Ward: “Merlin has drawn the attention of ‘Honest’ Abe.”
Brick Brody: “That is more than attention. The referee looks as though he has forgotten there are two men inside the ring.”
Heracles sees the mesmerized official.
He points toward Merlin and calls for ‘Honest’ Abe to turn back.
The referee does not respond.
Zeus steps forward and raises his lightning staff.
Merlin lowers his own staff before Zeus can act.
The pale light disappears.
‘Honest’ Abe blinks and looks around the ring, momentarily uncertain how much time has passed.
Heracles turns toward King Arthur, expecting the champion to exploit the distraction.
King Arthur attempts to catch the arms.
Heracles shoves him backward before the grip can settle.
The champion falls toward one knee but rises immediately.
Julian Ward: “Heracles prevents King Arthur from capitalizing. The interference of Merlin disrupts the official, but the demigod remains alert enough to defend himself.”
Brick Brody: “That is the important part. Merlin created the opening, and the king could not use it.”
Heracles steps toward the ropes and points directly at Merlin.
Zeus does the same from the floor.
Merlin offers no explanation.
He places both hands upon his staff and watches the ring.
High above them, Severin tilts his head slightly.
The first exchange has given him something to consider.
Minute 2
Heracles turns his attention back toward the champion.
King Arthur closes immediately.
He drives one knee into the abdomen and traps both arms.
Heracles attempts to straighten and throw the champion away.
King Arthur lowers his weight, turns the demigod into position, and drives him face-first into the canvas with the King’s Decree.
The Pedigree lands with brutal force.
The crowd erupts.
Julian Ward: “The King’s Decree connects. King Arthur has driven Heracles directly onto the head and chest.”
Brick Brody: “That is the difference between the first and second minute. No hesitation. No distraction. The king caught both arms and put the demigod on the floor.”
Heracles rolls toward one side.
He attempts to push himself upright.
His arms fail beneath him.
King Arthur remains close.
He places one boot against the shoulder and forces Heracles flat again.
‘Honest’ Abe warns the champion away from pressing against the neck.
King Arthur releases before the count begins.
Julian Ward: “The full exchange belongs to King Arthur. Heracles could not prevent the King’s Decree and has been denied the opportunity to use his strength.”
At ringside, Zeus strikes the base of his staff against the floor.
Heracles raises his head.
Across the ring, Merlin looks toward King Arthur.
The champion does not acknowledge him.
His attention is fixed entirely upon the fallen demigod.
In the upper deck, Severin folds both hands behind his back.
His expression remains calm.
Minute 3
Heracles reaches one knee.
King Arthur circles rather than allowing him to regain a vertical base.
The champion drives a forearm across the upper back.
Heracles absorbs the strike and attempts to turn.
King Arthur catches one shoulder and drives him down again.
He steps backward.
Then jumps.
A Jumping Knee Drop crashes across the upper chest and shoulder of Heracles.
The impact forces the air from the demigod’s body.
Julian Ward: “The Jumping Knee Drop lands cleanly. King Arthur is refusing to allow Heracles the standing position required for his power.”
Brick Brody: “That is excellent strategy. Everybody prepared for a test of strength. The king has spent the match making sure no test occurs.”
Heracles attempts to roll away.
King Arthur catches one ankle and pulls him back toward the center.
The demigod turns onto his back and throws one boot toward the champion.
King Arthur steps outside the strike.
He returns with another short Knee Drop across the thigh.
‘Honest’ Abe checks the condition of Heracles.
The demigod waves him away and begins rising again.
Julian Ward: “The physical advantage of Heracles remains undeniable, but it has not yet been permitted to become relevant. King Arthur has controlled position, pace, and elevation.”
Brick Brody: “That is what Severin is watching. Strength matters only when somebody gives it room.”
The camera returns briefly to the upper deck.
Severin watches the champion drag Heracles away from the ropes.
One finger taps against the iron railing.
Once.
No emotion accompanies the gesture.
Minute 4
Heracles powers himself upright.
He reaches toward King Arthur, searching for the first meaningful grip of the contest.
The champion drops beneath the arms.
He catches one leg.
Then the other.
King Arthur twists the legs together and steps through.
Heracles attempts to turn before the hold can settle.
King Arthur traps the ankle beneath his own leg and falls backward.
The Indian Deathlock is secured.
Julian Ward: “The Indian Deathlock is locked in. King Arthur has attacked the legs and hips of Heracles, removing the base beneath his strength.”
Heracles presses both palms against the canvas.
He tries to rotate through the pressure.
The trapped legs prevent the movement.
Brick Brody: “That is an ugly position for a man with that much muscle in the lower body. Every attempt to turn increases the torque.”
‘Honest’ Abe moves beside them and asks Heracles if he submits.
Heracles refuses.
He pushes upward and attempts to drag both men toward the ropes.
The strength of the demigod moves them several inches.
King Arthur tightens the entanglement and shifts his hips.
The knee of Heracles twists inward.
The crowd reacts sharply.
Julian Ward: “Heracles is attempting to reach the ropes through raw strength, but the hold has been secured in the center.”
At ringside, Zeus calls toward him.
Zeus: “Rise!”
Heracles plants both hands again.
His arms straighten.
His upper body rises from the canvas.
For one moment, it appears the demigod may lift himself through the hold.
King Arthur turns sharply.
The pressure increases through the knee, hip, and ankle.
Heracles falls flat.
Brick Brody: “He tried to overpower the submission. The king used the attempt to deepen it.”
‘Honest’ Abe asks again.
Heracles reaches toward the ropes.
They remain too far away.
The muscles in his back and shoulders tighten.
His hand closes into a fist.
He refuses once more.
King Arthur pulls backward and turns the trapped legs farther.
The fist of Heracles strikes the canvas.
Once.
Then again.
The bell rings.
The crowd erupts in shock.
King Arthur releases the Indian Deathlock immediately.
Heracles rolls onto his back and grips the damaged knee.
‘Honest’ Abe signals toward the champion.
Louie Linville: “Here is your winner by submission, the Mythic Crown Champion, King Arthur!”
Blue-and-gold light spreads across the coliseum.
King Arthur rises slowly.
There is no exhaustion in his posture.
Only certainty.
At ringside, Merlin takes the Mythic Crown Championship from the timekeeper and enters the ring.
The crowd reaction shifts when the wizard approaches.
Some remember the mesmerized referee.
Others respond only to the decisive submission.
Merlin presents the championship.
King Arthur accepts it.
He places the title across his shoulder and looks down at Heracles.
Zeus enters through the ropes and kneels beside the demigod.
Heracles refuses assistance at first.
He plants one hand against the canvas.
The injured knee gives beneath him.
Zeus catches his arm before he falls.
The ruler of Olympus looks toward King Arthur.
His expression carries anger.
Not at the result.
At the method surrounding its beginning.
Zeus: “Your victory belongs to you.”
His eyes move toward Merlin.
Zeus: “The opening did not.”
The crowd reacts.
Merlin steps forward.
Merlin: “The opening produced nothing.”
Zeus: “Intent remains even when advantage fails.”
King Arthur moves between them.
King Arthur: “Heracles was not defeated by an opening.”
He looks toward the injured demigod.
King Arthur: “He was defeated by judgment.”
Heracles pulls himself upright with the assistance of Zeus.
He stands unsteadily but refuses to remain beneath the champion.
Heracles: “You denied strength the opportunity to answer.”
King Arthur: “Strength had four minutes.”
Heracles: “You gave it no ground.”
King Arthur: “Then you understand.”
The champion steps closer.
King Arthur: “Power that requires permission to stand is not authority.”
The response draws another divided reaction.
Heracles studies him.
There is no submission in his expression now.
Only recognition of the tactic that defeated him.
Heracles: “You did not conquer strength.”
His hand remains against the damaged knee.
Heracles: “You bound it.”
King Arthur: “A king is not required to meet every weapon at its sharpest edge.”
The camera rises toward the upper deck.
Severin remains behind the railing.
For the first time, a faint expression appears.
Not approval.
Confirmation.
He gives King Arthur one slow nod.
The champion sees it.
Neither man speaks.
The unseen proposition now hangs more heavily over the victory.
Inside the ring, Zeus guides Heracles toward the ropes.
Before leaving, Heracles looks back toward King Arthur.
Heracles: “A labor unfinished remains a labor.”
King Arthur: “Then learn from the first attempt before requesting the second.”
Heracles steps through the ropes.
Zeus follows.
They begin walking up the ramp beneath white-gold light.
The demigod refuses to be carried, though every step exposes the damage created by the Indian Deathlock.
Inside the ring, King Arthur moves to the center.
Merlin stands several feet behind him.
The champion raises the Mythic Crown Championship.
The crowd responds loudly.
Julian Ward: “King Arthur has defeated Heracles by submission in only four minutes. The champion prevented the demigod from establishing any sustained offense, delivered the King’s Decree, attacked from above with the Jumping Knee Drop, and then removed the base beneath his strength through the Indian Deathlock.”
Brick Brody: “That was not the fight Heracles expected. He came prepared to lift, throw, and overpower the king. King Arthur never gave him the standing position. He put him face-first into the mat, attacked the body, trapped the legs, and forced the submission.”
Julian Ward: “The victory is decisive, but the first minute cannot be ignored. Merlin mesmerized ‘Honest’ Abe, creating an opening the champion attempted but failed to exploit. The result was not produced by that interference, yet it raises another question about the order King Arthur claims to represent.”
Brick Brody: “The interference scored nothing. The submission ended the match. Do not confuse an unsuccessful advantage with the reason Heracles lost.”
Julian Ward: “One week ago, the champion brought the god of war to heel. Tonight, the demigod submitted. King Arthur’s authority has survived another test, and Severin, the man who offered him an undisclosed proposition, has witnessed precisely how the king converted power, positioning, and restraint into victory.”
The camera returns to the upper deck.
The space behind the railing is empty.
Severin has already left.
Only a black card remains upon the stone ledge.
A silver hand closes around a key.
The camera lowers toward the ring.
King Arthur still holds the championship above his head.
Behind him, Merlin watches the upper deck rather than the champion.
Julian Ward: “Whatever Severin proposed, he has now seen the king operate exactly as he described leadership earlier tonight. Not by meeting strength directly, but by controlling the conditions beneath which strength is permitted to act.”
RESULT: KING ARTHUR DEFEATS HERACLES BY SUBMISSION AT THE 4-MINUTE MARK WITH THE INDIAN DEATHLOCK.
The camera returns to the ring inside Scrooge’s Camelot Coliseum.
Blue-and-gold light left behind by King Arthur fades from the stone walls.
The image of the Mythic Crown Championship disappears from the central screen.
For several seconds, the arena remains quiet.
Then the sound of a hammer striking steel rolls through the building.
One blow.
A pause.
Another.
The stage screen reveals a dark rail stretched across an endless field of stone. Fresh dents mark its surface. Each strike deepens them, but the steel refuses to break.
Furnace-orange light spreads across the entranceway.
The crowd rises.
John Henry steps onto the stage.
His shoulders are squared beneath dark blue, iron-gray, and weathered brown ring gear. The swelling left by the Black Knight one week ago has faded, but one strip of tape remains across his lower back.
He carries no hammer.
His hands remain closed at his sides.
Julian Ward: “This is the third meeting between John Henry and Sandman. The first two ended with John Henry trapped in the Sleeper and removed from consciousness.”
Brick Brody: “He admitted the second defeat was worse because he knew what was coming and still could not stop it.”
The screen briefly shows images from their confrontation one week ago.
Blue sand falling across a steel rail.
Sandman standing inches from John Henry.
The whispered promise that there is always a third dream.
John Henry bending the rail with one strike.
Julian Ward: “Last week, John Henry declared that pain and defeat are not the same. He survived repeated Powerbombs, aerial offense, and Knight’s Fall before defeating the Black Knight.”
Brick Brody: “Then Sandman defeated Lion in two minutes and reminded everybody that strength becomes useless when the air disappears.”
John Henry begins walking down the ramp.
The crowd pounds the barricade in rhythm.
Hammer against iron.
Hammer against iron.
John Henry does not raise a fist tonight.
He keeps his eyes upon the ring.
At ringside, he climbs the steps and enters through the ropes.
He walks to the center and plants both feet beneath the white ring light.
The furnace glow dies.
A cold wind moves through the coliseum.
Fine blue sand begins falling across the stage screen.
The iron rail disappears beneath it.
A pale moon rises over an empty desert.
The crowd noise softens beneath a slow heartbeat.
One beat.
Another.
Then silence.
Sandman steps through the curtain.
Boos fill the building.
He wears dark robes over his ring gear. Blue sand slips between the fingers of one hand. His expression remains calm, carrying the certainty of someone returning to a conclusion already reached twice.
He looks toward John Henry.
A faint smile appears.
Julian Ward: “Sandman has never treated this as a rivalry between equals. He speaks as though the third result existed before the match was announced.”
Brick Brody: “Why would he think differently? He has beaten John Henry twice. He has found the same weakness twice. Until the hammer proves otherwise, sleep owns the argument.”
Sandman begins walking down the ramp.
His pace is slow.
No urgency.
No acknowledgment of the hostile crowd.
Inside the ring, John Henry steps closer to the ropes.
He does not wait passively.
He watches every movement of the man approaching him.
Sandman reaches ringside and stops.
He raises one hand.
The blue sand falls.
Sandman: “The third dream.”
John Henry: “The final one.”
The crowd responds loudly.
Sandman climbs onto the apron and enters through the ropes.
The cold blue light remains around the ring.
The two men meet in the center.
John Henry stands broader.
Sandman stands stiller.
Neither looks away.
Louie Linville moves between them and raises the microphone.
Louie Linville: “Ladies and gentlemen, this contest is scheduled for one fall with a thirty-minute time limit!”
The crowd erupts.
Louie Linville: “The referee assigned to this match is ‘Honest’ Abe.”
‘Honest’ Abe steps forward and looks between the competitors.
Louie Linville: “Introducing first, the man who met the machine and refused to yield, the unbreakable hand of human will, John Henry!”
The coliseum erupts.
John Henry raises one battered fist.
Louie Linville: “And his opponent, the silence waiting beyond exhaustion, the master standing at the edge of consciousness, Sandman!”
Boos spread through the building.
Sandman closes his eyes briefly.
A final line of blue sand slips from his hand.
‘Honest’ Abe gives both men their instructions.
John Henry lowers his stance.
Sandman raises his hands.
The bell rings.
Minute 1
John Henry charges before Sandman can retreat into distance.
The Hammer Drop crashes across the side of Sandman’s head.
The Forearm Smash turns him toward the ropes.
Julian Ward: “The Hammer Drop lands immediately. John Henry has chosen direct violence rather than allowing Sandman to establish the pace.”
Brick Brody: “That is the correct opening. Do not study the dream. Hit it.”
John Henry reaches to pull Sandman back toward the center.
Sandman slips beneath the arm.
He moves behind John Henry and locks one arm beneath the chin.
The Sleeper closes.
The crowd reacts sharply.
Julian Ward: “The Sleeper is secured in the first minute.”
John Henry widens his stance.
He catches the forearm of Sandman with both hands and prevents the hold from tightening fully.
Sandman climbs higher onto the back and pulls backward.
Brick Brody: “That is the same position that ended the first two matches. The third has reached it before the first minute is over.”
‘Honest’ Abe asks whether John Henry submits.
John Henry shakes his head.
He drives backward into the corner.
The body of Sandman strikes the turnbuckles, but the Sleeper remains locked.
John Henry drives backward a second time.
The grip loosens.
A third impact breaks it.
Sandman falls into the corner.
John Henry staggers toward the center and pulls air into his lungs.
Julian Ward: “John Henry survives the first Sleeper. He does not submit, and he uses the turnbuckles to break the hold before consciousness can begin fading.”
Sandman watches him recover.
The faint smile remains.
Minute 2
John Henry closes around the waist and attempts to pull Sandman across one knee for a Backbreaker.
Sandman twists before the lift can be completed.
He slides behind and shoves John Henry forward.
Julian Ward: “The Backbreaker is reversed.”
John Henry turns.
Sandman drives through him with a Standing Clothesline.
The impact drops John Henry flat.
Brick Brody: “That is the punishment for reaching without control. Sandman escaped the lift and took the head off.”
Sandman kneels beside John Henry.
He places one hand against the throat but does not apply the Sleeper.
Instead, he watches John Henry breathe.
Julian Ward: “The second minute belongs completely to Sandman. He anticipated the attempt to attack the back and converted it into a direct collision.”
John Henry rolls toward one knee.
Sandman steps away and waits for him to rise.
He is not pursuing hurried damage.
He is measuring exhaustion.
Minute 3
John Henry catches Sandman during the next approach.
He lifts and drives him across one knee with a Backbreaker.
Sandman folds over the leg and falls toward the canvas.
Julian Ward: “The Backbreaker connects this time. John Henry has forced the body of Sandman to carry the impact.”
Sandman uses the fall to roll behind him.
Before John Henry can turn, the Sleeper closes again.
Brick Brody: “Every time John Henry reaches for the body, Sandman reaches for the throat.”
John Henry drops toward one knee.
Sandman pulls backward and tightens the arm beneath the jaw.
‘Honest’ Abe asks for the submission.
John Henry refuses.
He reaches behind and catches Sandman around the head.
Sandman keeps the grip locked.
John Henry forces himself upright with the weight of Sandman hanging from his back.
The crowd rises.
Julian Ward: “Extraordinary strength from John Henry. He is standing through the Sleeper.”
John Henry moves toward the ropes.
His steps slow.
One hand reaches.
His fingertips touch the top strand.
‘Honest’ Abe calls for the break.
Sandman releases at four.
Brick Brody: “The ropes saved him, but that is twice in three minutes. Every escape costs breath.”
John Henry remains against the ropes, chest rising heavily.
Sandman steps back into the center.
Minute 4
Sandman advances toward the ropes.
John Henry catches the wrist and pulls him forward.
He secures the pumphandle.
Sandman attempts to lower his weight.
John Henry powers through the resistance.
He lifts and drives Sandman down with the Steel Driver.
The sit-out Powerbomb shakes the ring.
The crowd erupts.
Julian Ward: “The Steel Driver connects with full force.”
Sandman bounces from the canvas and rolls onto his side.
John Henry remains seated beside him, breathing deeply after the two Sleeper applications.
Brick Brody: “That is how John Henry changes the argument. Sandman wants to take the air. The Steel Driver takes the floor away.”
John Henry does not cover.
He pulls Sandman back toward the center and presses one forearm across the chest.
‘Honest’ Abe warns him away from the throat.
John Henry releases cleanly.
Julian Ward: “Complete control for John Henry in the fourth minute. He has produced the strongest single impact of the match.”
Sandman turns toward one knee.
The calm expression remains.
Pain has not changed it.
Minute 5
John Henry closes both hands around the upper body of Sandman.
He lifts him high with a double-handed chokelift.
Sandman kicks once toward the chest but cannot escape.
John Henry throws him across the ring with Iron Collision.
The body of Sandman crashes onto the canvas.
Julian Ward: “Iron Collision sends Sandman across the ring.”
Sandman rolls through the landing.
As John Henry approaches, Sandman catches him, turns, and drops him across one knee with a Backbreaker.
Both men fall apart.
Brick Brody: “That was a violent exchange. John Henry threw him like scrap metal. Sandman answered by folding the hammer across the knee.”
John Henry presses one hand against his lower back.
Sandman remains near the ropes, one arm across his ribs after Iron Collision.
Julian Ward: “The greater force belongs narrowly to John Henry, but the Backbreaker prevents him from following the throw.”
Both men rise at nearly the same time.
Neither allows the other a period of recovery.
Minute 6
John Henry catches Sandman from behind and drops him onto the base of the spine with an Atomic Drop.
Sandman stumbles forward.
John Henry reaches for him again.
Sandman turns sharply.
He catches John Henry across the shoulders and lifts.
The knee rises.
Go to Sleep drives the face of John Henry into the strike.
He falls backward.
Julian Ward: “Atomic Drop from John Henry, answered by Go to Sleep from Sandman.”
Brick Brody: “That knee landed cleanly. John Henry has already spent time inside two Sleepers, and now the head has been struck directly.”
Sandman kneels beside him.
He reaches toward the throat.
John Henry rolls away before the Sleeper can be secured.
Julian Ward: “The stronger conclusion belongs to Sandman, but John Henry retains enough awareness to prevent another submission attempt.”
Sandman follows at a measured pace.
John Henry uses the ropes to rise.
Minute 7
John Henry catches Sandman approaching and drives him down with a Bodyslam.
The ring shakes beneath the impact.
Julian Ward: “The Bodyslam interrupts the approach of Sandman.”
Sandman rises through the landing.
He catches John Henry around the upper body and pulls him across one knee with another Backbreaker.
John Henry falls onto his side.
Brick Brody: “Again to the back. Sandman knows the stronger man needs a base before he can lift or throw.”
Sandman presses one hand against the shoulder and turns John Henry toward the center.
He considers the Sleeper.
John Henry throws one elbow backward and forces distance.
Julian Ward: “Both men score, but the Backbreaker produces the greater structural damage. The lower back of John Henry has become a deliberate target.”
John Henry rises slowly.
Sandman waits several feet away.
He allows the damage to become part of the next movement.
Minute 8
John Henry reaches for the pumphandle again.
Sandman attempts to twist away.
John Henry traps the arm before the escape is completed.
He powers Sandman upward and drives him down with a second Steel Driver.
The ring shakes.
Julian Ward: “Another Steel Driver from John Henry.”
During the descent, Sandman throws his arm across the throat and chest.
As John Henry rises from the Powerbomb, Sandman drives through him with a Standing Clothesline.
Both men fall.
Brick Brody: “He got Powerbombed and still found the Clothesline.”
Julian Ward: “The Steel Driver causes the greater damage, but the retaliation prevents John Henry from maintaining control.”
John Henry rolls toward one knee.
Sandman remains flat for several seconds.
‘Honest’ Abe begins a standing count.
“One!”
“Two!”
John Henry reaches his feet.
“Three!”
Sandman turns toward the ropes.
“Four!”
Both men rise.
Minute 9
John Henry moves behind Sandman before he can turn.
He locks both arms around the waist and lifts.
Sandman tries to hook one leg around the thigh.
The attempt comes too late.
John Henry drives him down with a Back Suplex Bomb.
The upper back and shoulders crash into the canvas.
Julian Ward: “The Back Suplex Bomb lands cleanly. Sandman absorbs the full punishment.”
Brick Brody: “That is the first time John Henry has kept Sandman from answering an impact since the Steel Driver in the fourth minute.”
John Henry remains standing over him.
He looks toward the crowd.
Then toward Sandman.
He does not cover.
He pulls him upright and positions him away from the ropes.
Julian Ward: “The ninth minute belongs entirely to John Henry. The question is whether he can convert sustained force into a finish before the Sleeper returns.”
Sandman hangs briefly within the grip.
Then his eyes open.
Minute 10
John Henry moves behind and drops Sandman with another Atomic Drop.
The impact sends Sandman forward onto both knees.
Julian Ward: “The Atomic Drop lands cleanly. Sandman could not defend.”
John Henry turns him over and hooks the leg.
‘Honest’ Abe counts.
“One!”
Sandman kicks out.
The crowd reacts with frustration.
Brick Brody: “Too early and too weak. John Henry had control and wasted it on a cover that never threatened the match.”
John Henry rises immediately, but the failed pin has allowed Sandman to roll toward the ropes.
Julian Ward: “The Atomic Drop caused damage, but the cover interrupted the momentum John Henry had constructed.”
Sandman sits beneath the ropes.
He looks toward John Henry.
Sandman: “Tired.”
John Henry steps forward.
John Henry: “Standing.”
Sandman pulls himself upright.
Minute 11
Both men hesitate near the center.
John Henry watches for the Sleeper.
Sandman waits for another lift.
The first approach ends without contact.
The second produces only a brief struggle at the wrists.
They separate again.
Julian Ward: “Each man understands the pattern now. John Henry cannot expose the neck. Sandman cannot remain within lifting range.”
Brick Brody: “Understanding does not matter if the body is too slow to use it.”
John Henry suddenly closes both hands around the upper body.
He lifts Sandman high and throws him across the ring with Iron Collision.
The crowd erupts.
Julian Ward: “Iron Collision connects again.”
John Henry drops across the chest and hooks both legs.
‘Honest’ Abe counts.
“One!”
“Two!”
Sandman lifts one shoulder.
Brick Brody: “Closer, but not enough.”
John Henry sits beside him, breathing heavily.
Julian Ward: “The second Iron Collision creates a two-count. Sandman survives, but the repeated throws are beginning to slow his recovery.”
Sandman rolls onto one side.
His eyes remain fixed upon John Henry.
Minute 12
John Henry rises and swings another Hammer Drop.
Sandman ducks beneath the Forearm Smash.
He moves behind before John Henry can turn.
The Sleeper closes for a third time.
Julian Ward: “The Hammer Drop is reversed into the Sleeper.”
John Henry reaches for the arm.
Sandman locks both hands beneath the jaw and pulls backward.
Brick Brody: “This is the deepest application yet. John Henry gave him the neck during the missed forearm.”
John Henry attempts to widen his base.
His knees bend.
‘Honest’ Abe asks if he submits.
John Henry shakes his head.
The movement is slower than before.
Sandman climbs onto the back.
John Henry falls to one knee.
The crowd rises.
Julian Ward: “The resistance is weakening.”
John Henry closes both hands around the forearm of Sandman.
He forces one foot beneath him.
Then the other.
The larger man stands again.
He turns toward the corner.
Sandman tightens the grip.
John Henry drives backward.
The turnbuckles absorb both bodies.
The Sleeper remains locked.
John Henry drives backward a second time.
Sandman releases.
Both men fall.
Brick Brody: “He survived again, but every escape is becoming slower.”
Julian Ward: “John Henry does not submit. The third Sleeper fails to finish him, but it has consumed another portion of his strength.”
Minute 13
Sandman rises first and advances.
John Henry catches him around the throat and chest.
He lifts.
Iron Collision throws Sandman across the ring for a third time.
Julian Ward: “Another Iron Collision from John Henry.”
Sandman rolls through the landing and rebounds from the ropes.
He drives through John Henry with a Standing Clothesline.
Both men fall.
Brick Brody: “Again, the throw lands and Sandman finds the Clothesline before the damage can settle.”
John Henry rolls toward one knee.
Sandman remains on his back for several seconds.
Julian Ward: “The greater force belongs narrowly to John Henry, but this match continues refusing sustained control. Every heavy attack receives an immediate answer.”
Sandman sits upright.
John Henry rises opposite him.
The exhaustion between them is becoming visible.
Minute 14
John Henry reaches around the waist and drives Sandman across one knee with another Backbreaker.
The body bends sharply.
Julian Ward: “The Backbreaker connects.”
Sandman falls toward the ropes.
As John Henry approaches, Sandman drives a Front Kick into the chest.
The strike forces John Henry backward but does not drop him.
Brick Brody: “The kick created space. It did not stop the stronger man.”
John Henry closes again and pulls Sandman toward the center.
Sandman resists but cannot prevent the movement.
Julian Ward: “The fourteenth minute belongs to John Henry through the heavier impact. Sandman creates distance, but he cannot prevent the damage to the back.”
John Henry keeps his hands high.
He is expecting the Sleeper now.
Sandman recognizes the preparation.
His approach changes.
Minute 15
Sandman spins toward the head with a Spin Heel Kick.
John Henry raises both forearms and catches the leg before the heel can land.
Julian Ward: “The Spin Heel Kick is neutralized.”
John Henry shoves the trapped leg aside.
Sandman lands awkwardly but remains upright.
Brick Brody: “Good defense. John Henry did not chase the head or waist. He waited for the strike and removed it.”
Sandman circles away before John Henry can establish another lift.
Neither man lands a follow-up.
Julian Ward: “No offense scores for Sandman, but the defensive success matters for John Henry. He has begun recognizing attacks before they become another opening for the Sleeper.”
Sandman stands near the corner.
He tilts his head.
The confidence remains.
The ease does not.
Minute 16
John Henry closes behind Sandman and drops him with another Atomic Drop.
The impact sends Sandman stumbling toward the ropes.
Julian Ward: “The Atomic Drop lands.”
Sandman turns inside the next approach.
He slips behind and locks the Sleeper for a fourth time.
The crowd erupts in alarm.
Brick Brody: “Again. Every time John Henry gets close enough to control the body, Sandman finds the neck.”
John Henry pulls at the forearm.
The grip does not move.
His knees bend immediately.
Julian Ward: “The earlier Sleeper applications have reduced the time required for this hold to become dangerous.”
‘Honest’ Abe asks whether John Henry submits.
He refuses.
Sandman drags him toward the canvas.
John Henry catches the top rope with one hand.
‘Honest’ Abe calls for the break.
Sandman releases at four.
John Henry falls through the ropes onto the apron but remains inside the ring.
Brick Brody: “Four Sleepers. Four escapes. He is still awake, but barely.”
John Henry pulls himself upright using the top strand.
Sandman waits behind him.
Minute 17
John Henry turns and attempts another Backbreaker.
Sandman shifts his weight before the lift can be completed.
He slides behind.
The Sleeper closes for a fifth time.
Julian Ward: “The Backbreaker is reversed into another Sleeper.”
John Henry tries to turn before the hands can lock.
He cannot.
Sandman pulls backward and brings him down to one knee.
Brick Brody: “This is the strategy. Let John Henry spend strength lifting, throwing, and escaping. Then return to the same hold until the body forgets how to answer.”
‘Honest’ Abe moves beside them.
John Henry refuses the submission.
His hand reaches toward the ropes.
They remain several feet away.
Sandman falls backward and takes John Henry with him.
The Sleeper remains secured on the canvas.
Julian Ward: “The position has become more dangerous. John Henry no longer has his feet beneath him.”
John Henry drives one heel into the mat.
He rolls toward the trapped side.
Sandman attempts to follow.
The weight of John Henry crushes one shoulder against the canvas.
The grip loosens.
John Henry forces the arm away and rolls free.
The crowd erupts.
Brick Brody: “He used the body this time. No corner. No ropes. He rolled through the side and forced Sandman to carry his weight.”
Julian Ward: “The fifth Sleeper does not produce the submission. John Henry has survived the most dangerous ground application of the match.”
Both men remain down.
Minute 18
John Henry rises and reaches for another Backbreaker.
Sandman widens his base and hooks one leg around the thigh.
The lift stops.
Julian Ward: “The Backbreaker is neutralized before John Henry can elevate him.”
Sandman drives one elbow into the ribs and steps away.
No follow-up lands.
Brick Brody: “That is still a victory for Sandman. He forced John Henry to spend strength on a lift that produced nothing.”
John Henry presses one hand against his lower back.
Sandman circles toward the center.
Julian Ward: “The eighteenth minute produces no significant attack, but the defensive exchange favors Sandman. The body of John Henry continues spending more than it receives.”
John Henry breathes through his mouth now.
Sandman watches every breath.
Minute 19
John Henry catches Sandman from behind and drops him with another Atomic Drop.
Sandman stumbles forward.
John Henry reaches for the waist.
Sandman breaks free and runs toward the ropes.
He rebounds.
A Running Bulldog drives John Henry face-first into the canvas.
Julian Ward: “Atomic Drop from John Henry, answered by the Running Bulldog from Sandman.”
Brick Brody: “The Bulldog landed harder. Head and face into the mat after five Sleeper attempts.”
Sandman rolls onto one knee.
He reaches toward the throat again.
John Henry swings one arm backward and forces him away before the hold can be secured.
Julian Ward: “The greater damage belongs to Sandman, but John Henry remains aware enough to prevent the immediate Sleeper.”
Sandman stands several feet away.
He looks toward the clock.
Eleven minutes remain.
Minute 20
John Henry surges forward.
He catches the pumphandle before Sandman can circle away.
The Steel Driver plants Sandman into the canvas for a third time.
The ring shakes.
Julian Ward: “A third Steel Driver from John Henry.”
During the rise, Sandman throws a Spinning Fist Strike.
The blow catches John Henry across the jaw.
He staggers but remains standing.
Brick Brody: “The Powerbomb landed harder, but the fist prevented the cover.”
John Henry shakes his head and closes again.
Sandman falls toward the ropes before another grip can be established.
Julian Ward: “The twentieth minute belongs to John Henry through superior force. The question remains whether he can convert that force before another opening reaches his throat.”
Sandman uses the ropes to stand.
The calm in his face has become strained.
Minute 21
Both men charge from opposite sides.
John Henry drives a Knee Lift into the body and jaw.
At the same moment, Sandman throws a Spin Heel Kick.
The heel catches John Henry across the side of the head.
Both men fall.
Julian Ward: “Knee Lift and Spin Heel Kick. Both attacks connect.”
Brick Brody: “That was equal violence. One man attacked the center. The other attacked the head.”
‘Honest’ Abe begins a standing count.
“One!”
Neither moves.
“Two!”
John Henry turns toward one side.
“Three!”
Sandman reaches for the ropes.
“Four!”
Both men rise to their knees.
“Five!”
They stand.
Julian Ward: “Neither man gains control. The damage is balanced, but recovery has become slower on both sides.”
They approach again without allowing a complete reset.
Minute 22
Sandman spins through the center.
The Spinning Fist Strike crashes across the jaw of John Henry.
The larger man attempts to raise his guard.
The blow breaks through.
Julian Ward: “The Spinning Fist Strike lands cleanly. John Henry could not defend.”
Brick Brody: “That head has absorbed Go to Sleep, the Bulldog, multiple Clotheslines, and now another turning strike.”
John Henry falls against the ropes.
Sandman moves behind him and reaches for the Sleeper.
John Henry senses the arm and drops through the ropes to the floor before the hold can close.
The crowd reacts.
Julian Ward: “John Henry escapes the ring rather than allowing the sixth Sleeper attempt to form.”
‘Honest’ Abe begins counting.
“One!”
John Henry rests one hand against the apron.
“Two!”
Sandman stands inside the ring and waits.
“Three!”
John Henry pulls himself upright.
“Four!”
He enters beneath the bottom rope.
Brick Brody: “He used the floor to stay awake. That tells you how close the danger has become.”
Minute 23
John Henry catches Sandman approaching and drives him down with a Bodyslam.
The impact shakes the canvas.
Julian Ward: “The Bodyslam gives John Henry the first attack.”
Sandman rolls through the landing.
He catches John Henry across the shoulders.
Go to Sleep drives the face into the rising knee for a second time.
John Henry falls backward.
Brick Brody: “Another Go to Sleep. The name is becoming less symbolic.”
Sandman drops toward him.
He considers the Sleeper.
John Henry rolls onto his stomach and grips the bottom rope before the arm can pass beneath his chin.
Julian Ward: “The greater impact belongs to Sandman, but John Henry reaches the ropes before the submission can be established.”
Sandman stands over him.
The crowd boos.
Sandman: “You are tired.”
John Henry pulls himself upward.
John Henry: “Not finished.”
Eight minutes remain on the time limit.
Minute 24
Sandman reaches for the neck.
John Henry turns through the approach and catches him around the waist.
He moves behind.
Both arms lock.
Sandman hooks one leg around the thigh, attempting to stop the lift.
John Henry widens his base.
The crowd rises.
He powers Sandman upward and drives him down with the Back Suplex Bomb.
The upper back and shoulders crash into the canvas.
Julian Ward: “The Back Suplex Bomb connects.”
Sandman uses the momentum to roll toward his feet.
He runs forward and catches John Henry with another Running Bulldog.
The face of John Henry strikes the mat.
Both men lie motionless.
Brick Brody: “The Bulldog landed, but Sandman took the greater fall first.”
John Henry turns onto one knee.
Sandman attempts to do the same.
His back gives beneath him.
He falls flat again.
Julian Ward: “John Henry is recovering first. The accumulated Steel Drivers, Iron Collisions, Backbreakers, and the final Back Suplex Bomb have left Sandman unable to rise.”
John Henry crawls toward him.
He turns Sandman onto his back.
The crowd rises throughout the coliseum.
John Henry hooks both legs.
‘Honest’ Abe drops into position.
“One!”
Sandman attempts to turn one shoulder.
“Two!”
John Henry tightens the cover.
“Three!”
The bell rings.
The coliseum erupts.
John Henry releases the cover and rolls onto his back.
For several seconds, he does not rise.
His chest moves heavily beneath the white ring light.
‘Honest’ Abe signals toward him.
Louie Linville: “Here is your winner, John Henry!”
The sound of hammer against iron returns.
The crowd pounds the barricades and seats.
Hammer against iron.
Hammer against iron.
John Henry pushes himself onto one knee.
‘Honest’ Abe raises his arm.
The hand trembles from exhaustion, but it remains above his head.
Across the ring, Sandman sits against the bottom rope.
The calm certainty has disappeared.
He looks toward John Henry.
Not with anger.
With recognition.
The third result has not followed the first two.
Blue sand begins falling across the stage screen.
The iron rail appears beneath it.
This time, the sand does not cover the steel.
It breaks against it.
John Henry rises fully.
He walks toward Sandman.
‘Honest’ Abe steps between them at first.
John Henry raises one hand.
He does not intend to attack.
Sandman uses the ropes to stand.
The two men meet near the center.
John Henry: “I heard the last bell.”
The crowd reacts loudly.
Sandman studies him.
Sandman: “You remained awake.”
John Henry: “I remained.”
A silence passes between them.
Sandman lowers his gaze briefly toward the canvas.
Then he looks back into the face of John Henry.
Sandman: “For one dream.”
John Henry: “For the one that mattered tonight.”
Sandman gives no answer.
He steps through the ropes and drops to the floor.
No sand follows him.
No final threat is offered.
He begins walking up the ramp alone.
Inside the ring, John Henry raises one fist toward the crowd.
The furnace-orange light returns.
Julian Ward: “John Henry has defeated Sandman after twenty-four minutes and ended the sequence of two previous losses. He survived five fully secured Sleeper applications, two Go to Sleep attacks, repeated Backbreakers, Clotheslines, and strikes directed toward the head.”
Brick Brody: “He kept spending strength, and Sandman kept waiting for it to disappear. But the hammer never gave him the final opening. John Henry threw him with three Iron Collisions, drove him down with three Steel Drivers, and finally caught him with the Back Suplex Bomb.”
Julian Ward: “The decisive difference was not that John Henry avoided the Sleeper. He did not. He entered it repeatedly and found a different escape each time. The turnbuckles. The ropes. His own body weight. Recognition replaced the false belief that preparation created immunity. Tonight, endurance was not merely the ability to absorb punishment. It was the ability to learn while suffering.”
At the top of the ramp, Sandman stops.
He looks back toward the ring.
John Henry remains standing beneath the image of the unbroken rail.
Sandman turns away and disappears behind the curtain.
Julian Ward: “The first two dreams belonged to Sandman. The third belongs to the man who remained standing when the dream ended.”
RESULT: JOHN HENRY DEFEATS SANDMAN BY PINFALL AT THE 24-MINUTE MARK AFTER THE BACK SUPLEX BOMB.
