House Show Recaps — Week of August 10th to August 16th
By Oliver Grant
Opening
The second stop of Scrooge Conquers Europe carried NPCW from Madrid and Oslo into another pair of major European cities. The Mythic Division continued its Spanish tour in Barcelona, while the Polar Division moved deeper into Scandinavia with two nights in Stockholm. Ebenezer Scrooge’s advertising may continue to emphasize revenue, merchandise and assorted surcharges, but two weeks into the tour the more useful story remains what the wrestlers are doing once the bell rings. The scheduled August 10–11 stops in Barcelona and Stockholm marked the second leg of a tour that will next move to Seville and Helsinki.
Barcelona produced several different kinds of two-night results. King Arthur defeated Sandman twice, with the second match requiring a noticeably different route once Sandman removed Merlin from the equation for much of the contest. Tin Man also emerged as the decisive wrestler in both of his team’s victories over Kaminari Hono.
Other pairings changed direction. Patchwork Piper defeated Rosalyn, Queen of Thorns in the first meeting before Rosalyn answered on the second night, although Huntsman’s involvement became increasingly important. The Dread Knights followed a 30-minute draw against Dragon King and Cheshire Cat with a much shorter submission victory, while Severin Crowne defeated Huntsman twice through dramatically different finishes.
Stockholm produced three complete sweeps. Ashen Vicar defeated Tom Sawyer twice, Belsnickel did the same against Big Bad Wolf, and the Reindeer Coalition left both nights with victories over the Frost Giants, although neither result provided a completely satisfying conclusion.
Huck Finn and Brakk Bloodmaw divided their two matches, while the Grimm Sisters followed a first-night pinfall victory over Dark Ritual with a second-night disqualification victory after the Coven’s interference finally crossed the referee’s limit.
Across both cities, the useful question was not simply who won twice. It was who demonstrated that the first victory could survive a change in pace, opposition or circumstance.

King Arthur vs Sandman
King Arthur and Sandman gave Barcelona’s opening night its strongest complete match because both men established several possible finishes before Arthur finally found the one Sandman could not answer.
The match began with interference rather than control. Merlin attempted to mesmerize the referee in the first minute while Sandman used Sleep Dust, and another Merlin distraction in the fourth minute again prevented Arthur from establishing a clean rhythm.
Once Arthur began connecting directly, the match changed quickly. Spinebusters in the fifth and eighth minutes gave him his most reliable power attack, while Sandman responded with the Go to Sleep in the seventh.
Arthur then began testing different ways to finish the match. He applied the Indian Deathlock in the tenth minute before attempting his first pin after a Flowing DDT one minute later. Sandman escaped at one.
Arthur followed with the Arm Trap Crossface in the 12th minute. Sandman survived that as well, then answered with a Sleeper while Arthur landed another Spinebuster in the 13th.
The key counter came one minute later. Sandman tried another Go to Sleep, but Arthur neutralized it. That mattered because Sandman had already shown that the move could match Arthur’s strongest offense.
Arthur returned in the 15th minute with the King’s Decree. Sandman attempted another Go to Sleep during the same exchange, but this time Arthur controlled the sequence completely and finished the pin.
What it showed: Sandman had enough offense to force Arthur through several possible finishes, but Arthur kept broadening his attack. The champion did not depend on one hold or one strike. By the time the King’s Decree landed, Sandman had already been forced to survive submissions, power moves and a pin attempt.

King Arthur vs Sandman
The second Barcelona main event lasted four minutes longer than the first, but the more important difference was that Sandman succeeded in taking Merlin away from Arthur for most of the middle portion.
Arthur started aggressively. He survived a first-minute Go to Sleep and landed the King’s Decree in both the third and fifth minutes. A third King’s Decree followed in the sixth and produced Arthur’s first pin attempt, although Sandman escaped at one.
Sandman then changed the match.
After surviving Arthur’s Arm Trap Crossface, Sandman attacked Merlin in the ninth minute. Merlin remained unavailable for the next eight rounds, leaving Arthur to manage the longest sustained portion of the match without him.
Sandman made use of that opening. He reversed Arthur’s Short Arm Clothesline into a Backbreaker in the tenth minute, added another Backbreaker in the 12th and continued testing Arthur with Front Kicks while Merlin remained out.
Arthur did not collapse under the change. He answered with a Clothesline, Spinebuster and Jumping Knee Drop before Merlin finally became available again after the 17th minute.
By then, Arthur had already steadied himself.
He trapped Sandman in the Indian Deathlock in the 18th minute. Sandman survived, but Arthur followed with the Short Arm Clothesline one minute later and completed the pin.
What it showed: Arthur’s second victory was more useful than the first because Sandman successfully removed one of the conditions Arthur had benefited from on Night 1. Arthur spent eight rounds without Merlin and still rebuilt control. The finish was less spectacular than the King’s Decree, but the route toward it showed more independence.

Featured Match Observation
Grimm Sisters vs Dark Ritual
The Grimm Sisters and Dark Ritual produced Stockholm’s strongest first-night tag match because the advantage changed repeatedly without either team losing its structure.
Morrigan and Wicked Willow began well. Morrigan’s Double Knee Facebreaker and Willow’s Chokebomb gave Dark Ritual the stronger opening exchanges, but Shade Grimm began shifting the match with a Release German Suplex, Pump Kick and Bulldog.
The eighth minute brought all four wrestlers into the ring. The Grimm Sisters answered with the Pump Kick and Final Descent, while Wicked Willow and Morrigan countered with the Hair Pull Gory Special and Inverted DDT.
That exchange did not settle anything, but the next three minutes gave the Grimm Sisters their first sustained advantage.
Shade landed consecutive Spears against Willow and Morrigan in the ninth and tenth minutes, followed by another Pump Kick. Glint then continued the pressure with Death’s Whisper.
Dark Ritual recovered by changing the pace. Willow sent Shade outside with a Superkick, Morrigan followed with an Inverted DDT, and the team later used a two-round double-team sequence beginning in the 18th minute.
The Grimm Sisters still retained enough control to create the more meaningful finishing chances. Glint earned the match’s first pin attempt with the Moonlit Crossing in the 16th minute. Morrigan escaped at one, but that attempt established which team was beginning to convert offense into actual finishing pressure.
Shade completed that progression five minutes later. After landing another Step Up Enzuigiri, she followed with the Lifting Curb Stomp and pinned Wicked Willow.
What it showed: Dark Ritual could match the Grimm Sisters during exchanges and create effective double-team stretches, but the Grimms turned more of their offense into finishing opportunities. Shade’s repeated Spears and final Curb Stomp gave the team a clearer closing progression.

Featured Match Observation
Ashen Vicar vs Tom Sawyer
Ashen Vicar’s second victory over Tom Sawyer was more difficult than the first because Sawyer survived repeated finishing attempts and forced the match six minutes deeper.
Vicar had won the opening meeting after 18 minutes with the Writ of Flame. He had also benefited from Elyra Moane’s involvement several times, but the closing stretch became increasingly direct: White Flame Purge, Writ of Flame, another Writ of Flame and finally the pin.
The rematch began even faster.
Vicar landed the White Flame Purge in the opening minute and attempted his first pin after the Fall of the Faithless in the fifth. Sawyer escaped at two. Another Writ of Flame produced the same result in the eighth, and another Fall of the Faithless failed in the ninth.
Three unsuccessful attempts gave Sawyer room to change the match.
He attacked with the Electric Chair Drop and Hangman’s Neckbreaker, then reversed another Fall of the Faithless into a Superkick in the 12th minute. Vicar answered by reversing Sawyer’s Double Underhook Powerbomb two minutes later.
Sawyer continued pressing. He landed the Falcon Arrow in the 16th minute, sent Vicar outside with the Tope Con Giro in the 17th and connected with another Double Underhook Powerbomb in the 19th.
Vicar survived all of it.
Elyra Moane intervened again in the 20th minute, and Vicar followed with the Pale Revelation. Sawyer kicked out at one. Another pin attempt two minutes later reached two.
The sixth serious attempt finally ended it. Vicar landed the Fall of the Faithless in the 24th minute and this time Sawyer could not escape.
What it showed: Sawyer made the second match considerably harder by surviving Vicar’s early finishing pressure and creating a strong middle stretch of his own. Vicar’s advantage was persistence. Six separate pin attempts eventually turned a competitive rematch into a convincing sweep.
Closing
Barcelona produced two complete singles sweeps.
King Arthur defeated Sandman twice. The first victory came after 15 minutes with the King’s Decree, following multiple submission attempts and a successful counter to the Go to Sleep. The second required 19 minutes and became more revealing when Sandman removed Merlin for eight rounds. Arthur survived that stretch and finished with the Short Arm Clothesline.
The second victory therefore carried more weight. Arthur had to function for a significant portion of the match without the assistance that had repeatedly affected the first meeting.
Severin Crowne also defeated Huntsman twice, although the two results could hardly have been more different.
Their first match lasted 19 minutes. Huntsman controlled several early exchanges with the Full Nelson Slam, Ace Crusher and Vertical Suplex, while Crowne gradually built his offense around State Sanction and the Policy Adjustment. Crowne finally pinned Huntsman after the second consecutive Policy Adjustment.
The rematch ended in the opening minute. Crowne threw Huntsman through the ropes, and Huntsman failed to return before the ten-count. The sweep belongs to Crowne, but only the first match gave enough evidence to evaluate the pairing properly.
Prince Charming and Tin Man completed another Barcelona sweep over Kaminari Hono.
The first match lasted 29 minutes and placed much of the responsibility on Tin Man. He spent long stretches against both Enrai and Kaen and eventually pinned Enrai with the Belly-to-Belly Suplex.
The rematch lasted only 14 minutes. Prince Charming and Tin Man used more early double-team offense, while Kaminari Hono answered through their own tandem attacks. Tin Man again provided the finish, forcing Enrai to submit to the Arm Bar.
Two victories by two different methods made Tin Man one of Barcelona’s most productive performers.
Rosalyn, Queen of Thorns and Patchwork Piper split their series.
Patchwork Piper survived the Thorn Spike and Crown of Thorns in the first match before pinning Rosalyn with a Vertical Suplex after 23 minutes. Both Puppet Master and Huntsman became involved during the contest, but Piper was still the wrestler who completed the finish.
Rosalyn answered in 16 minutes on the second night. The rematch featured even more direct involvement from Huntsman, including consecutive attacks in the ninth and tenth minutes and the Brutal Beatdown that directly preceded the final pin.
Rosalyn recovered the victory, but the level of assistance leaves the first match as the cleaner measure of the pairing.
The Dread Knights also improved their result dramatically.
Their opening match against Dragon King and Cheshire Cat reached the 30-minute limit. Dragon King handled most of the middle portion and created several of the stronger exchanges through Dragon’s Fury and the Dragon Bomb, while the Dread Knights remained dangerous through repeated double-team sequences.
Night 2 lasted only eight minutes. The Dread Knights controlled the opening against Cheshire Cat, survived a three-round double-team sequence and ended the match when Dread Knight 2 trapped Cheshire in the Bearhug.
The shorter match revealed less overall, but it gave the Dread Knights the result they had been unable to find across the full half-hour one night earlier.
Stockholm’s strongest sweep belonged to Ashen Vicar.
Tom Sawyer pushed him through 18 minutes on the first night and 24 on the second. Vicar required three late pin attempts to finish the opener and six serious attempts in the rematch. Sawyer repeatedly changed the rhythm through the Superkick, Double Underhook Powerbomb, Falcon Arrow and outside attack, but he never found his own finishing cover.
Belsnickel also completed a two-night sweep over Big Bad Wolf.
The first match lasted 18 minutes. Belsnickel survived the Lycan Lock, received repeated assistance from Fenwick Grimbough and created four late pin attempts before winning with a Suplex.
The rematch gave Big Bad Wolf more sustained control. He applied the Lycan Lock three times between the tenth and 14th minutes, but Belsnickel refused to submit. One minute later, Belsnickel applied the Claw and Big Bad Wolf submitted.
The second victory was the stronger result because Belsnickel survived the very hold Big Bad Wolf had repeatedly established before winning with one of his own.
The Reindeer Coalition also finished 2–0 against the Frost Giants, although neither finish was ideal.
Prancer won the first match after Frost Giant 1 was counted out in the seventh minute. The rematch developed much further, with both teams producing double-team offense and several tags over 24 minutes.
That match ended when Magnus Blackwell threw a fireball at Prancer and caused Frost Giant 2 to be disqualified.
The record gives the Reindeer Coalition a sweep. The mechanics give them one short count-out and one disqualification.
Huck Finn and Brakk Bloodmaw split their series.
Brakk won the first after 19 minutes when Count Daculescu’s Cheap Shot directly produced the pin. Huck answered the next night by surviving two Brakk pin attempts and sending him outside with the Diving Corkscrew Somersault Plancha. Brakk failed to return before the count of ten.
Neither victory was completely clean, but Huck’s second-night adjustment at least prevented another direct interference finish.
The Grimm Sisters completed Stockholm with two victories over Dark Ritual.
Their first was the stronger one. Shade Grimm pinned Wicked Willow with the Lifting Curb Stomp after 21 minutes of balanced tag wrestling.
The rematch lasted 18 minutes and remained competitive until the Coven threw green mist into Glint Grimm’s eyes. The referee disqualified Morrigan, ending the match without allowing either team to create a proper in-ring finish.
By the end of the second week of Scrooge Conquers Europe, King Arthur, Tin Man, Ashen Vicar and Belsnickel had produced the most convincing individual two-night performances.
Rosalyn, the Dread Knights and Huck Finn made useful second-night corrections. The Reindeer Coalition collected two victories without receiving a fully satisfying finish in either match.
And as the tour prepares to move from Barcelona and Stockholm to Seville and Helsinki, the distinction between simply collecting victories and demonstrating repeatable control is becoming increasingly useful.
House shows don’t crown champions—but they do reveal who’s ready.
