LIVE FROM THE IRON RING ACADEMY
The broadcast opens with grainy, VHS-style footage of the Iron Ring Academy.
No pyrotechnics.
No elaborate entrance stage.
Just concrete walls, exposed steel beams, unforgiving overhead lights, and a wrestling ring surrounded by a tightly packed audience.
The familiar metallic clang of an anvil echoes through the building.
A quick montage of last week's action begins.
Patchwork Paige launches Bridget O'Hare over the ropes with a Back Body Drop.
Bridget struggles to return.
Nine.
Ten.
The referee calls for the bell.
PATCHWORK PAIGE — FIRST Q4 VICTORY
The footage changes.
Eirik Ironward catches Owen Starling.
FALLAWAY SLAM!
One.
Two.
Three.
EIRIK IRONWARD — 4 POINTS
Another cut.
Sorina immediately traps Patchwork Peg in the Chickenwing Neckscissors.
Peg struggles.
Then taps.
The timer freezes.
1:00
Finally—
Nikolas Nocturne and Dante Rook battle through the closing seconds of their main event.
Nocturne attempts another DDT.
Dante blocks.
They separate.
The bell rings.
Twenty minutes.
Draw.
The footage fades to black.
WHAT DID LAST WEEK PROVE?
A moment passes.
A second question replaces it.
CAN YOU DO IT AGAIN?
The metallic anvil strikes once more.
The screen erupts into the familiar iron-and-fire Crucible graphic.
IRON RING: THE CRUCIBLE
EPISODE 038
OCTOBER 22, 2026
LIVE FROM THE IRON RING ACADEMY
The broadcast cuts inside the Academy.
The audience is already making noise, stamping their feet against the wooden floorboards and leaning over the barricades.
Several Academy recruits watch from the rear of the room.
A few coaches stand near the entrance.
The camera passes the ring before settling on the commentary desk.
Paul Redford sits beside Dave "The Brute" Kent.
Behind them, the Academy monitor displays:
QUARTER FOUR — WEEK FOUR
Paul Redford: "Welcome to the Iron Ring Academy, and welcome to another edition of Iron Ring: The Crucible! I'm Paul Redford alongside Dave 'The Brute' Kent, and tonight marks the fourth week of Quarter Four competition."
Dave Kent: "And now we're getting somewhere."
Paul Redford: "Three weeks of competition have already produced some interesting developments."
Dave Kent: "Interesting isn't the word I'd use."
Paul Redford: "What word would you use?"
Dave Kent: "Useful."
Paul smiles slightly.
Dave Kent: "We're starting to see who actually learned something from the last quarter and who simply showed up expecting different results."
The monitor displays last week's four results.
Paul Redford: "Certainly, last week offered some compelling evidence. Patchwork Paige earned her first Quarter Four victory by countout against Bridget O'Hare. Eirik Ironward continued his remarkable turnaround by defeating Owen Starling to move to four points."
Footage shows the decisive Fallaway Slam.
Paul Redford: "Sorina needed only sixty seconds to submit Patchwork Peg, and our main event saw reigning Iron General Nikolas Nocturne and Dante Rook wrestle to a twenty-minute draw."
Dave Kent: "Four matches. Four very different lessons."
He points toward the monitor.
Dave Kent: "Paige learned that you don't have to chase somebody outside the ring to win. Eirik learned how to defend against the offense that beat another man. Sorina learned that finishing a match is considerably better than surviving one."
The footage freezes on Nikolas Nocturne and Dante Rook.
Dave Kent: "And those two learned that twenty minutes of hard work doesn't guarantee you a victory."
Paul Redford: "The Iron General remains without a Quarter Four win."
Dave Kent: "Exactly. Last quarter's champion. This quarter's problem."
The monitor goes black.
Then—
TONIGHT — FOUR MATCHES
Paul Redford: "And tonight, four more matches will help determine the early direction of our Quarter Four standings. We also have something special planned. For the first time this quarter, two separate Wrestler Spotlights, one to begin our program and another following tonight's main event."
Dave Kent: "Good. More opportunities to find out what's going on inside these wrestlers' heads."
Paul Redford: "And perhaps more opportunities for them to answer your criticism."
Dave Kent: "I'd welcome that. Provided the answers eventually appear in the ring."
The first match graphic appears.
MATCH 1 — ANVIL BLOCK — MEN
DORIAN ARGENT
VS
PIERS HOLLOWAY
Footage shows Dorian Argent attempting to reverse Eirik Ironward's pinning combination.
Eirik reverses it again.
Three.
Paul Redford: "Our opening contest sees Dorian Argent return to competition against Piers Holloway, who makes his Quarter Four singles debut."
The standings appear.
EIRIK IRONWARD — 4 POINTS
DORIAN ARGENT — 0 POINTS
PIERS HOLLOWAY — YET TO COMPETE
Paul Redford: "For Dorian, tonight represents an opportunity to get his quarter moving after that opening defeat."
Dave Kent: "And he needs it."
Paul Redford: "Because Eirik has already established a four-point lead?"
Dave Kent: "Exactly. Dorian learned last week that Eirik Ironward isn't the same wrestler he was in Quarter Three. Fine. Lesson learned. But now Eirik has four points, and Dorian has none."
Dave leans toward the desk.
Dave Kent: "At some point, you stop talking about what the other fellow learned and start proving you've learned something yourself."
Paul Redford: "And Piers Holloway?"
Dave Kent: "Fresh start. No points. No Quarter Four losses. He has the opportunity to make Dorian's situation considerably worse."
The next graphic appears.
MATCH 2 — ANVIL BLOCK — WOMEN
ESME NIGHTSHADE
VS
PROTOTYPE LEXA9
Highlights show Esme Nightshade catching Sorina with the Witching Hour.
The three-count follows.
The screen changes to Prototype LEXA9 applying the System Lock to Patchwork Peg during the tag-team evaluation.
Peg submits.
Paul Redford: "Our second contest brings together two very different competitors. Esme Nightshade enters with two points following her victory over Sorina. Prototype LEXA9 makes her Quarter Four singles debut."
Dave Kent: "That one interests me."
Paul Redford: "What specifically?"
Dave Kent: "Esme knows how to finish. She demonstrated that against Sorina. But LEXA9 is a problem solver. She identifies something that's vulnerable, attacks it, and doesn't stop because the opponent wishes she would."
The monitor alternates between the Witching Hour and the System Lock.
Paul Redford: "A potentially fascinating contest between an opportunistic finisher and a methodical submission specialist."
Dave Kent: "And somebody is going to have to change their approach. That's what I want to see."
The third match graphic appears.
MATCH 3 — HAMMER BLOCK — WOMEN
PENNY COPPERSNAP
VS
BEATRICE BOUP
The crowd responds as footage shows Penny Coppersnap launching into the Shiny Snatch Dive against Bridget O'Hare.
The two women collide near the barricade.
The referee reaches ten.
Neither returns.
Paul Redford: "Our third match features Penny Coppersnap, whose Quarter Four debut certainly made an impression. Unfortunately, her twenty-minute battle with Bridget O'Hare ended in a double countout."
Dave Kent: "Which means Penny showed us plenty of ability and walked away with one point."
Paul Redford: "Tonight she faces Beatrice Boup, who has yet to compete in Quarter Four singles competition."
Highlights show Beatrice Boup working alongside Prototype LEXA9 against the Patchwork Dolls.
Dave Kent: "Beatrice understands this Academy. She knows the coaches. She knows the expectations. Penny arrived with enough personality for six wrestlers and enough offense to make that personality matter."
Paul Redford: "An interesting contrast."
Dave Kent: "It is. But I want to see Penny control herself."
Paul Redford: "You're referring to the double countout."
Dave Kent: "Absolutely. Penny got carried away. She had an opponent in trouble, followed the fight outside, and lost the opportunity to win."
The image freezes on Penny outside the ring.
Dave Kent: "Being exciting isn't the same as being effective."
A beat.
Dave Kent: "Let's see whether Penny understands the difference."
The final match graphic fills the monitor.
MATCH 4 — MAIN EVENT — HAMMER BLOCK — MEN
CHAT XYZ
VS
FINN OAKHEART
The Academy crowd grows considerably louder.
Footage from Quarter Four's opening week appears.
CHAT XYZ catches reigning Iron General Nikolas Nocturne.
BRIDGING DOUBLE LEG NELSON!
One.
Two.
Three!
The crowd erupts again.
CHAT XYZ — 2 POINTS
FINN OAKHEART — YET TO COMPETE
Paul Redford: "And tonight's main event brings back the man responsible for perhaps the biggest surprise of Quarter Four so far."
Dave Kent: "Beating the Iron General gets your attention."
Paul Redford: "CHAT XYZ defeated Nikolas Nocturne in his very first Academy match. Tonight, he faces Finn Oakheart."
Dave Kent: "Now comes the important part."
Paul Redford: "Proving that the debut wasn't a fluke?"
Dave Kent: "More than that. Proving he can establish a pattern."
Dave points toward the monitor.
Dave Kent: "A victory over Nikolas Nocturne tells me CHAT XYZ is capable of beating a very good wrestler. Another victory tells me he might be capable of doing it regularly."
Paul Redford: "And Finn Oakheart begins his Quarter Four campaign against someone who has already defeated the reigning champion."
Dave Kent: "Which means Finn gets an excellent opportunity of his own."
Paul Redford: "In what way?"
Dave Kent: "Everybody is watching CHAT XYZ. Everybody wants to know what he'll do next."
A pause.
Dave Kent: "If Finn Oakheart beats him, suddenly everybody is watching Finn."
Paul Redford: "An enormous opportunity for both men."
Dave Kent: "And a very useful main event."
The graphic fades.
A new image appears.
A darkened ring.
A familiar silhouette stands beneath the overhead lights.
WRESTLER SPOTLIGHT 1
SORINA
Footage from last week begins.
Sorina closes the distance against Patchwork Peg.
CHICKENWING NECKSCISSORS.
Peg taps.
One minute.
Paul Redford: "And before tonight's opening contest, our first Wrestler Spotlight belongs to Sorina."
Dave Kent: "Now that's somebody I've wanted to talk about."
Paul Redford: "Last week, Sorina answered months of criticism by securing a submission victory in sixty seconds."
Dave Kent: "She answered one question."
Paul Redford: "Only one?"
Dave Kent: "She proved she can finish a match quickly. That's encouraging. Very encouraging."
The footage freezes on Sorina's raised hand.
Dave Kent: "But one minute doesn't erase everything that came before it."
Paul Redford: "So what do you want to hear from her tonight?"
Dave Kent: "I want to know what changed. And I want to know whether she understands why it worked."
The graphic changes.
SORINA — 2 POINTS
Paul Redford: "We'll take a closer look at Sorina's Academy journey and hear from the woman herself in just a moment."
The screen fades.
Then another image appears.
WRESTLER SPOTLIGHT 2
PENNY COPPERSNAP
Footage shows Penny celebrating during her Academy debut.
Then the chaotic finish against Bridget.
Paul Redford: "And following our main event, we'll turn the spotlight onto one of the Academy's most colorful new arrivals, Penny Coppersnap."
Dave Kent: "Oh, I imagine that will be interesting."
Paul Redford: "You sound skeptical."
Dave Kent: "I'm not skeptical about Penny's ability."
A pause.
Dave Kent: "I'm curious about what happens when all that enthusiasm meets the reality of professional wrestling."
Paul Redford: "And by the time that Spotlight arrives, we'll know what happened in her match against Beatrice Boup."
Dave Kent: "Exactly. We'll have some fresh evidence."
The monitor displays the complete evening's schedule.
TONIGHT ON THE CRUCIBLE — EPISODE 038
SPOTLIGHT ON — SORINA
MATCH 1 — ANVIL BLOCK
Dorian Argent vs Piers Holloway
MATCH 2 — ANVIL BLOCK
Esme Nightshade vs Prototype LEXA9
MATCH 3 — HAMMER BLOCK
Penny Coppersnap vs Beatrice Boup
MATCH 4 — HAMMER BLOCK — MAIN EVENT
CHAT XYZ vs Finn Oakheart
SPOTLIGHT ON — PENNY COPPERSNAP
The camera returns to the commentary desk.
Paul Redford: "Four matches. Two Wrestler Spotlights. And another opportunity for the recruits of the Iron Ring Academy to prove that they're ready to take the next step."
Dave Kent: "And remember something, Paul."
Paul Redford: "What's that?"
Dave Kent: "Last week Eirik Ironward earned four points. Sorina finally won a match. Patchwork Paige corrected a mistake. And the Iron General still couldn't get a victory."
Dave looks toward the ring.
Dave Kent: "Nobody gets to live on what they accomplished yesterday."
Paul Redford: "Because tomorrow demands something more."
Dave Kent: "Exactly."
The crowd begins pounding against the barricades again.
Paul Redford: "And tonight, we begin by examining a wrestler who may have finally discovered how to turn resilience into results."
The Academy monitor displays Sorina standing in the ring after last week's victory.
SORINA
ONE MINUTE. ONE SUBMISSION. ONE IMPORTANT QUESTION.
WAS IT A BREAKTHROUGH?
Paul Redford: "Potential isn't enough."
Dave Kent: "Prove you belong."
The camera moves away from the commentary desk as the lights above the ring dim slightly.
The Sorina Spotlight graphic fills the screen.
Paul Redford: "This is The Crucible."

The broadcast returns to the Iron Ring Academy.
The large monitor behind the ring displays the familiar Wrestler Spotlight graphic.
SPOTLIGHT ON ... SORINA
The camera moves toward a small interview area beside the ring.
Veronica "Vee" Vandal, the Academy's Head of Talent Relations, stands holding a microphone and a dark leather portfolio.
Beside her stands Sorina.
There is no championship belt over her shoulder.
No elaborate entrance.
Just a wrestler who, seven days earlier, finally produced the kind of result her coaches had been demanding.
Vee Vandal: "Welcome to another Wrestler Spotlight. Tonight, we're looking at someone who has experienced just about everything this Academy can offer."
Vee turns slightly toward Sorina.
Vee Vandal: "You've been on the main roster. You've been sent back for additional development. You've won a championship. You've lost that championship. You've received encouraging evaluations and some rather disappointing ones."
She smiles faintly.
Vee Vandal: "And last week, you won a wrestling match in sixty seconds."
Sorina: "I did."
Vee Vandal: "Which brings us to a very interesting question."
Vee opens her portfolio.
Vee Vandal: "Where exactly has that version of Sorina been hiding?"
Sorina does not immediately answer.
Instead, she glances toward the Academy monitor.
Sorina: "I think that's what I'm trying to figure out."
Vee studies her for a moment.
Vee Vandal: "Good. Then we're starting with something useful."
The monitor changes.
QUARTER TWO — IRON MAIDEN CHAMPIONSHIP
Footage begins.
Furiosa Ardilla stands across the ring from Sorina.
The bell rings.
Furiosa advances.
Sorina catches her.
CHICKENWING NECKSCISSORS.
Furiosa struggles.
The hold tightens.
Furiosa taps.
The referee calls for the bell.
SORINA DEFEATS FURIOSA ARDILLA
IRON MAIDEN CHAMPIONSHIP — 1 MINUTE
The Academy crowd applauds the familiar footage.
Vee Vandal: "Quarter Two. You defeated Furiosa Ardilla in one minute to become the Iron Maiden Champion."
Sorina watches the replay.
Vee Vandal: "No prolonged struggle. No dramatic comeback. You recognized an opening, secured your submission, and ended the match."
Sorina: "She came forward. I caught her before she could establish herself."
Vee Vandal: "And you became champion."
Sorina: "Yes."
Vee Vandal: "I remember being impressed by that."
She closes the portfolio.
Vee Vandal: "I also remember wondering whether we had finally found the version of you that belonged on the main roster."
Sorina looks toward Vee.
Sorina: "I wondered that too."
Vee Vandal: "And then came Quarter Three."
The monitor changes.
QUARTER THREE — IRON MAIDEN ANVIL BLOCK
A series of match highlights begins.
Sorina battles Lenore Valmont.
Twenty minutes expire.
DRAW.
The image changes.
Sorina against Bella Aurelia.
Again, the clock expires.
DRAW.
Another clip.
Sorina and Holly Vale fighting through the closing seconds of another competitive match.
Twenty minutes.
DRAW.
Three matches.
Sixty minutes.
Three points.
No victories.
Vee Vandal: "Three consecutive tournament draws."
Vee looks toward Sorina.
Vee Vandal: "You were difficult to defeat. You were competitive against some of the best women in the Academy. And you couldn't finish any of them."
Sorina: "I know."
Vee Vandal: "You were the reigning Iron Maiden Champion."
Sorina: "I know that too."
Vee Vandal: "Then explain something to me."
Vee gestures toward the screen.
Vee Vandal: "How does a wrestler who can win a championship in sixty seconds spend sixty minutes of tournament competition without winning once?"
Sorina takes a moment.
Sorina: "Because I started wrestling not to lose."
Vee raises an eyebrow.
Vee Vandal: "That's an interesting distinction."
Sorina: "When I won the championship, I saw the opening and took it. I wasn't thinking about how long the match would last. I wasn't thinking about what happened if I made a mistake."
She looks at the footage.
Sorina: "But after I became champion, everything felt different."
Vee Vandal: "Different how?"
Sorina: "Every match felt like something I had to survive. Every opponent was trying to prove they could beat the champion. So I started thinking about making sure they couldn't."
Vee Vandal: "Instead of thinking about how you could beat them."
Sorina: "Yes."
Vee gives a small nod.
Vee Vandal: "And there is the problem."
The monitor changes again.
QUARTER THREE — FINAL ANVIL BLOCK MATCH
SORINA VS BRIDGET O'HARE
Footage shows Bridget O'Hare pressing the attack.
Heartstone Press.
Sorina survives.
Another exchange.
Another escape.
The closing moments arrive.
Bridget catches Sorina with a Springboard Crossbody.
The referee counts three.
Sorina's tournament is over.
Vee Vandal: "And eventually, someone stopped you from surviving."
Sorina watches the footage without speaking.
Vee Vandal: "Bridget O'Hare defeated you in the final Anvil Block match. You failed to qualify for the semifinals. And under the tournament rules, the Iron Maiden Championship moved on without you."
Vee allows the words to settle.
Vee Vandal: "You weren't defending that championship in the final. You were watching someone else earn the opportunity."
Sorina: "That was harder than losing the match."
Vee Vandal: "Why?"
Sorina: "Because I had opportunities. Against Lenore. Against Bella. Against Holly. Against Bridget."
She shakes her head.
Sorina: "I spent so much time proving I could stay in those matches that I forgot the most important part."
Vee Vandal: "Which was?"
Sorina: "Winning them."
Vee watches her carefully.
Vee Vandal: "That's a fairly expensive lesson."
Sorina: "I paid for it."
The screen changes.
QUARTER THREE FINAL EVALUATION
SORINA — 50.78%
D — AT RISK
The crowd quiets slightly.
Vee Vandal: "And the Academy's final evaluation reflected that."
Vee turns toward the camera.
Vee Vandal: "Fifty point seven eight percent. A D evaluation. At Risk."
She looks back at Sorina.
Vee Vandal: "You entered Quarter Three as the Iron Maiden Champion and finished it with an evaluation that put your future under scrutiny."
Sorina: "I earned the grade."
Vee Vandal: "I'm glad you understand that."
Vee's expression hardens slightly.
Vee Vandal: "Because here's something I wish more Academy wrestlers understood. Championships are wonderful. They make you visible. They make people interested. They make management pay attention."
She taps her portfolio.
Vee Vandal: "But if the evaluations start going backward, nobody in Talent Relations can build a convincing argument around what you used to be."
Sorina: "I don't expect you to."
Vee Vandal: "Good. Because I won't."
A brief silence.
Then Vee's expression softens just enough.
Vee Vandal: "But I also haven't forgotten why we believed in you."
The monitor changes.
QUARTER FOUR — WEEK TWO
SORINA VS ESME NIGHTSHADE
Footage rolls.
Sorina escapes an early Witching Hour attempt.
She fights back.
Somersault Suicide Dive.
For a moment, she appears capable of turning the match around.
Then Esme catches her again.
WITCHING HOUR.
Three-count.
ESME NIGHTSHADE DEFEATS SORINA
SORINA — 0 POINTS
Vee Vandal: "And then Quarter Four began with another defeat."
Sorina: "Yes."
Vee Vandal: "Esme Nightshade beat you. Another competitive performance. Another demonstration of resilience."
She pauses.
Vee Vandal: "Another loss."
Sorina: "Yes."
Vee Vandal: "Dave Kent said something after that match which I think is worth repeating."
The Academy monitor displays a familiar quotation.
THIS IS AN EVALUATION SYSTEM.
NOT AN ENDURANCE AWARD.
Sorina looks at the words.
Vee Vandal: "Did that bother you?"
Sorina: "Yes."
Vee Vandal: "Good."
Sorina: "Not because he was wrong."
She looks directly at Vee.
Sorina: "Because he was right."
Vee lowers her portfolio slightly.
Sorina: "I'd spent an entire quarter hearing how tough I was. How difficult I was to put away. How long I could keep fighting."
A pause.
Sorina: "And I realized I was starting to believe that was enough."
Vee Vandal: "But it wasn't."
Sorina: "No."
The monitor goes dark.
Then a timer appears.
00:00
The timer begins advancing.
QUARTER FOUR — WEEK THREE
SORINA VS PATCHWORK PEG
The footage begins at the opening bell.
Patchwork Peg steps forward.
Sorina closes immediately.
She catches Peg before the newcomer can establish her offense.
CHICKENWING NECKSCISSORS.
Peg struggles to escape.
Sorina increases the pressure.
Peg taps.
The bell rings.
The timer stops.
01:00
SORINA DEFEATS PATCHWORK PEG
SUBMISSION — 1 MINUTE
SORINA — 2 POINTS
The Academy crowd applauds.
Vee watches the replay with a slight smile.
Vee Vandal: "Now this is interesting."
She turns toward Sorina.
Vee Vandal: "One minute. The same submission hold. The same kind of decisive finish that won you the Iron Maiden Championship."
Sorina: "Yes."
Vee Vandal: "Coincidence?"
Sorina: "No."
Vee Vandal: "Then tell me what changed."
Sorina studies the frozen image of Patchwork Peg submitting.
Sorina: "I stopped waiting."
Vee Vandal: "For what?"
Sorina: "For the perfect moment."
She gestures toward the monitor.
Sorina: "I knew Peg was athletic. I knew she had shown toughness against Corvina Ash. I knew she and Paige had worked well together."
A pause.
Sorina: "But I also knew I had something that could end the match."
Vee Vandal: "And you went looking for it."
Sorina: "Immediately."
Vee Vandal: "No feeling-out process?"
Sorina: "I didn't need one."
Vee Vandal: "No attempt to prove you could outlast her?"
Sorina: "I didn't want to outlast her."
Sorina looks directly toward the camera.
Sorina: "I wanted to beat her."
A stronger reaction comes from the crowd.
Vee smiles.
Vee Vandal: "There she is."
Sorina looks slightly surprised by the response.
Vee Vandal: "That's the wrestler I remember from Quarter Two."
Vee points toward the screen.
Vee Vandal: "You didn't spend fifteen minutes showing everyone how difficult you were to defeat. You spent one minute demonstrating how dangerous you could be."
Sorina: "That's what I should have been doing."
Vee Vandal: "Perhaps."
Vee's expression becomes serious again.
Vee Vandal: "But now comes the part where I stop congratulating you."
Sorina nods.
Vee Vandal: "Patchwork Peg is a newcomer. She's talented, but she is still learning. And you are a former Iron Maiden Champion."
Vee steps slightly closer.
Vee Vandal: "You should be capable of beating a newcomer."
Sorina: "I agree."
Vee Vandal: "So the question isn't whether you can beat Patchwork Peg."
She gestures toward the monitor.
Vee Vandal: "The question is whether that victory represents a genuine correction."
Sorina: "It does."
Vee Vandal: "How do I know?"
Sorina: "You don't."
Vee pauses.
Sorina: "Not yet."
For the first time in the interview, Vee looks genuinely pleased with an answer.
Vee Vandal: "That's a very good answer."
Sorina: "Because I can tell you I've changed. I can explain what I learned. I can say all the right things."
She glances toward the ring.
Sorina: "But the only way I prove it is by doing it again."
The monitor changes to the current women's Anvil Block standings.
QUARTER FOUR — ANVIL BLOCK — WOMEN
CORVINA ASH — 2 POINTS
ESME NIGHTSHADE — 2 POINTS
SORINA — 2 POINTS
PATCHWORK PEG — 0 POINTS
PROTOTYPE LEXA9 — YET TO COMPETE
Vee Vandal: "And that brings us to where you stand tonight."
Sorina studies the standings.
Vee Vandal: "Two points. Right alongside Esme Nightshade and Corvina Ash."
Sorina: "For now."
Vee Vandal: "Exactly. For now."
Vee taps the screen beside Sorina's name.
Vee Vandal: "Esme has already beaten you. Corvina has demonstrated that she can win. Prototype LEXA9 is entering singles competition tonight, and you've seen firsthand what her submissions can do."
The monitor briefly shows LEXA9 applying the System Lock.
Vee Vandal: "So what happens when somebody doesn't walk straight into your Chickenwing Neckscissors?"
Sorina answers without hesitation.
Sorina: "Then I wrestle."
Vee Vandal: "Explain."
Sorina: "The submission isn't the lesson."
Vee listens carefully.
Sorina: "The lesson is what I do when an opportunity appears."
Sorina steps slightly toward the monitor.
Sorina: "If they give me the neck, I take the neck. If they leave themselves open for the Tiger Bomb, I use it. If they give me an arm, I take control of the arm."
She turns back toward Vee.
Sorina: "What I'm not going to do anymore is spend twenty minutes waiting for someone to make the match easy for me."
Vee Vandal: "And if they counter your first attack?"
Sorina: "I find another."
Vee Vandal: "And if they hurt you?"
Sorina: "I recover."
Vee Vandal: "And if you find yourself approaching another twenty-minute time limit?"
Sorina's expression hardens.
Sorina: "Then I remember what those three draws cost me."
Vee says nothing for a moment.
Vee Vandal: "That may be the most important answer you've given me tonight."
The monitor returns to an image from Quarter Two.
Sorina holding the Iron Maiden Championship.
Beside it, a current image appears.
Sorina standing with her hand raised after defeating Patchwork Peg.
The two images remain side by side.
Vee Vandal: "I'm going to finish with something that might be uncomfortable."
Sorina: "Go ahead."
Vee Vandal: "You've already had opportunities that many recruits in this building would give anything to receive."
Vee gestures toward the championship photograph.
Vee Vandal: "You had a place on the main roster. You had a championship. You had the attention of management."
She lowers her hand.
Vee Vandal: "And you're still here."
A brief silence.
Vee Vandal: "Does that bother you?"
Sorina looks toward the Academy ring.
Sorina: "Sometimes."
Vee waits.
Sorina: "I've watched wrestlers move forward. I've watched people I competed against earn opportunities. And sometimes I've wondered why I wasn't moving with them."
She looks back at Vee.
Sorina: "But then I look at what I actually did."
The three Quarter Three draws appear briefly on the monitor.
Sorina: "I didn't win enough."
Another image.
Bridget O'Hare's decisive pinfall.
Sorina: "I didn't finish when I needed to."
Then the Quarter Three evaluation.
50.78% — D — AT RISK.
Sorina: "And I didn't give the Academy enough reasons to move me forward."
She pauses.
Sorina: "That's my responsibility."
Vee studies her expression.
Vee Vandal: "And now?"
Sorina turns toward the image of last week's submission.
Sorina: "Now I've given you one."
A pause.
Sorina: "I intend to give you more."
Vee smiles.
Vee Vandal: "That's what I wanted to hear."
She closes the portfolio.
Vee Vandal: "But remember something, Sorina. One good result does not erase a disappointing evaluation. And one successful correction does not automatically mean you're ready for another opportunity."
Sorina: "I understand."
Vee Vandal: "I don't need you to be the woman who won the Iron Maiden Championship in Quarter Two."
Vee points toward the Academy standings.
Vee Vandal: "I need you to be the woman who learned why she lost it."
Sorina considers that for several seconds.
Sorina: "Then keep watching."
The Academy crowd responds.
Vee Vandal: "Oh, I will."
Vee extends her hand.
Sorina shakes it.
Vee Vandal: "Thank you, Sorina."
Sorina: "Thank you."
Sorina turns to leave.
Then stops.
She looks back toward the monitor.
One image remains.
SORINA — 2 POINTS.
She studies it.
Sorina: "Vee?"
Vee Vandal: "Yes?"
Sorina: "I don't want anyone remembering me because I could last twenty minutes."
Vee raises an eyebrow.
Sorina: "I want them remembering what happened before the bell."
Sorina turns and walks toward the backstage area.
Vee watches her leave.
For several seconds, the Head of Talent Relations says nothing.
Then she turns toward the camera.
Vee Vandal: "I've reviewed hundreds of wrestlers. I've seen extraordinary athletes fail because they couldn't learn, and I've seen ordinary prospects become valuable professionals because they could."
She looks toward the ring.
Vee Vandal: "Sorina has always had the ability."
A pause.
Vee Vandal: "Last week, she reminded us."
Vee taps the portfolio once.
Vee Vandal: "Now she needs to make sure we don't forget again."
The camera slowly moves away from the interview area.
The monitor changes one final time.
SORINA
FORMER IRON MAIDEN CHAMPION
Q3 EVALUATION — D (50.78%)
Q4 — 1 WIN, 1 LOSS — 2 POINTS
The championship victory against Furiosa Ardilla replays.
Chickenwing Neckscissors.
One minute.
Then last week's victory over Patchwork Peg.
Chickenwing Neckscissors.
One minute.
Both images appear side by side.
The screen goes black.
THE FINISH WAS ALWAYS THERE.
NOW COMES THE CONSISTENCY.
The Iron Ring Academy logo fills the screen.
The sound of the anvil rings once.
When the broadcast returns, the ring is ready for the evening's opening contest.
MATCH 1 — ANVIL BLOCK
DORIAN ARGENT VS PIERS HOLLOWAY
END OF SPOTLIGHT 1

MATCH 1 – Dorian Argent Vs Piers Holloway
ANVIL BLOCK — MEN
The camera returns to the ring following the Wrestler Spotlight on Sorina.
The Academy monitor displays the current Anvil Block standings.
EIRIK IRONWARD — 4 POINTS
OWEN STARLING — 2 POINTS
KRYST FELLWINTER — 0 POINTS
DORIAN ARGENT — 0 POINTS
PIERS HOLLOWAY — YET TO COMPETE
Paul Redford: "Our opening contest features two men entering tonight under very different circumstances. Dorian Argent is looking to recover from his defeat against Eirik Ironward, while Piers Holloway makes his Quarter Four singles debut."
Dave Kent: "And there's already pressure on Dorian. Eirik has four points. You cannot afford to let somebody establish that kind of lead while you're standing still."
Dorian Argent enters first.
His expression is composed, but there is considerably less ceremony in his approach to the ring than usual.
Last week's pinning exchange against Eirik Ironward remains fresh in the minds of the Academy audience.
Paul Redford: "Dorian came very close to reversing that result against Eirik. Unfortunately, Eirik anticipated the reversal and secured the deciding three-count."
Dave Kent: "Which is a lesson about finishing an exchange. Dorian made the correct initial decision. He simply failed to account for what came afterward."
Piers Holloway enters next.
He approaches the ring with a measured confidence, studying his opponent rather than the audience.
Paul Redford: "For Piers Holloway, this is an opportunity to enter the standings before the established competitors can create further separation."
Dave Kent: "And he's facing somebody who needs a victory. That can work both ways. Desperation sometimes sharpens a wrestler. Sometimes it makes him careless."
'Honest' Abe checks both competitors and signals for the bell.
Minute 1
Piers Holloway establishes the opening advantage.
He catches Dorian Argent coming forward and plants him with a Bodyslam.
Dorian attempts to brace against the lift but cannot prevent the impact.
Paul Redford: "Immediate physical control from Piers Holloway."
Dave Kent: "Good opening. He's not giving Dorian an opportunity to dictate the pace. Make the more experienced opponent react."
Minute 2
Dorian answers by taking control of the upper body.
VERTICAL SUPLEX!
Piers hits the canvas but immediately fires back with a Short-Arm Clothesline.
Both men separate.
Paul Redford: "A quick exchange of power offense."
Dave Kent: "Neither man wants to surrender the physical argument. But Dorian needs to be careful about turning this into a contest of isolated moves."
Minute 3
Both men initially struggle for position.
Dorian eventually establishes control, forcing Piers onto the canvas before driving a Knee Drop into him.
Piers attempts to protect himself but cannot avoid the strike.
Paul Redford: "Dorian beginning to establish his offense."
Dave Kent: "That's better. Secure the position first. Deliver the punishment second."
Minute 4
Dorian presses forward with a Jumping Stomp.
Piers answers by catching him during the next engagement.
THE PIPER'S DUE!
The Snap DDT drives Dorian into the canvas.
Paul Redford: "The Piper's Due connects! That's the first significant signature attack of the contest."
Dave Kent: "And Piers didn't need an elaborate setup. He recognized Dorian coming forward and turned that movement against him."
Minute 5
Dorian attempts to respond with a Clothesline.
Piers reads the attack and neutralizes it completely.
Dorian is forced to reset.
Paul Redford: "Holloway saw that Clothesline coming."
Dave Kent: "Because Dorian gave him time to see it. You cannot announce an attack and expect an opponent to cooperate."
Minute 6
Dorian changes his approach.
He creates separation, launches himself forward, and connects with a Diving Back Elbow.
Piers fails to defend.
Paul Redford: "Excellent adjustment from Dorian Argent."
Dave Kent: "That's what I want to see. The Clothesline failed. He changed the angle and found a clean connection."
Minute 7
Dorian drives another Knee Drop into Piers.
Holloway recovers and catches Dorian with a Side Russian Leg Sweep.
Both men scramble back to their feet.
Paul Redford: "Seven minutes in, and neither competitor has established sustained control."
Dave Kent: "Because both are answering individual attacks rather than constructing sequences. Somebody needs to start thinking beyond the next move."
Minute 8
Dorian catches Piers during an attempted engagement.
SCOOP POWERSLAM!
Holloway absorbs the impact but manages to recover and drive a Knee Lift into Dorian.
Paul Redford: "Heavy Powerslam from Argent, but Holloway refuses to let him follow it."
Dave Kent: "That's becoming the pattern. Dorian lands something meaningful, and Piers immediately interrupts the continuation."
Minute 9
Dorian changes tactics completely.
He moves behind Holloway and secures the arms.
THE GOLDEN CLAUSE!
The Cobra Clutch tightens.
Piers fights against the pressure, using a Knee Lift during the struggle to force some separation.
Paul Redford: "The Golden Clause! Dorian has moved from impact offense to submission control."
Dave Kent: "Good decision. Make Piers defend something he cannot simply answer with another Clothesline."
Minute 10
Dorian returns to the same strategy.
THE GOLDEN CLAUSE!
Piers struggles to free himself.
He eventually manages to break the control, reposition his opponent, and deliver a Vertical Suplex.
Paul Redford: "A second Golden Clause attempt, but Piers Holloway escapes."
Dave Kent: "And that's useful information for Dorian. The hold is effective, but Piers has enough strength and awareness to fight out of it."
Minute 11
Piers catches Dorian advancing.
KNEE LIFT!
Dorian attempts to defend but takes the full impact.
Paul Redford: "Holloway beginning to disrupt Dorian's offense more consistently."
Dave Kent: "Because he's finding the same opening repeatedly. Dorian keeps coming forward in ways that allow Piers to strike underneath him."
Minute 12
The wrestlers struggle briefly for position.
Piers finds an opening.
DROP TOE HOLD!
Dorian is taken down before he can establish his attack.
Paul Redford: "Another interruption from Holloway."
Dave Kent: "Simple, effective wrestling. He's making Dorian work to regain his feet instead of allowing him to operate from a comfortable standing position."
Minute 13
Piers continues the pressure.
SHORT-ARM CLOTHESLINE!
Dorian attempts to defend but is knocked down.
Paul Redford: "Holloway now stringing together consecutive successful attacks."
Dave Kent: "And that's the first meaningful sustained stretch we've seen from either man in several minutes."
Minute 14
Dorian fights back.
BACKBREAKER!
Piers arches from the impact but recovers sufficiently to answer with another Short-Arm Clothesline.
Paul Redford: "Dorian connects with the Backbreaker, but Piers responds again."
Dave Kent: "And that's becoming frustrating for Dorian. He has the offense to hurt this man. What he hasn't established is the ability to keep him under control afterward."
Minute 15
Dorian takes Piers down and begins working his way into another submission position.
ABDOMINAL STRETCH!
The hold is secured.
Piers struggles against the pressure.
Dorian increases the torque.
'Honest' Abe checks for the submission.
Piers Holloway refuses to submit.
Paul Redford: "Dorian has the Abdominal Stretch locked in! Holloway is in trouble!"
Dave Kent: "This is the correct idea. Fifteen minutes into the match, the accumulated punishment matters. Make Piers carry that pressure."
Piers continues struggling until the hold is eventually released.
Dave Kent: "But Dorian needs to understand the clock. Five minutes left. He cannot afford to admire the work he's doing."
Minute 16
Dorian attempts to capitalize immediately.
SCOOP POWERSLAM!
Piers crashes into the canvas.
He manages to recover and answer with another Side Russian Leg Sweep.
Paul Redford: "Back and forth again."
Dave Kent: "And this is where experience becomes important. Both men need to understand that the time remaining is becoming as important as the punishment."
Minute 17
Dorian attempts another Clothesline.
Piers recognizes the attack and reverses it.
He tries to follow with a Side Russian Leg Sweep.
This time Dorian sees it coming.
The attempt is neutralized.
Paul Redford: "Both men now recognizing attacks they've seen earlier."
Dave Kent: "Good defensive awareness. But we're entering the seventeenth minute, and neither man has established the decisive opening."
Minute 18
Dorian drives a Jumping Stomp into Holloway.
Piers forces himself upright and answers with a Knee Lift.
Neither competitor can maintain control.
Paul Redford: "Eighteen minutes. Both men beginning to show the effects of this contest."
Dave Kent: "And both need to stop treating every exchange like there's unlimited time available."
Minute 19
Dorian powers Piers into position.
SCOOP POWERSLAM!
Holloway struggles to recover.
He manages to counter the next engagement with a Side Russian Leg Sweep.
Paul Redford: "Dorian has connected with several Powerslams tonight, but Holloway continues answering."
Dave Kent: "Because Dorian keeps allowing the next exchange. If you have someone hurt, take control of the situation. Do not keep offering him another chance."
Minute 20
The Academy crowd begins urging both competitors forward.
Dorian catches Piers again.
SCOOP POWERSLAM!
Piers takes the landing but refuses to remain down.
He battles upright and catches Dorian in another Side Russian Leg Sweep.
Both men struggle to regain their footing.
The timekeeper watches the clock.
They engage again—
BELL.
The twenty-minute time limit has expired.
'Honest' Abe separates the competitors.
DORIAN ARGENT and PIERS HOLLOWAY wrestled to a 20 minute DRAW
The Academy crowd responds with a mixture of appreciation and frustration.
Both wrestlers stand in opposite corners, breathing heavily.
Paul Redford: "Twenty minutes of competitive action, and neither man could secure the victory."
Dave Kent: "And that's going to frustrate both of them."
The replay begins.
The Piper's Due.
The Golden Clause.
The Abdominal Stretch.
The repeated Scoop Powerslams.
And the final Side Russian Leg Sweep.
Paul Redford: "Dorian Argent earns his first Quarter Four point. Piers Holloway also collects one point in his opening match."
Dave Kent: "But neither one gets the two points they wanted."
Paul Redford: "Your evaluation?"
Dave Kent: "Piers demonstrated that he can compete at this level. He repeatedly disrupted Dorian's offense, survived the submission attempts, and remained dangerous throughout twenty minutes."
The replay shows another Short-Arm Clothesline.
Dave Kent: "That's encouraging for somebody making his first singles appearance of the quarter."
Paul Redford: "And Dorian?"
Dave watches the replay of the Abdominal Stretch.
Dave Kent: "Good offense. Good physical strength. He made adjustments. But he never established enough control to finish."
The screen shows the updated standings.
ANVIL BLOCK — MEN
EIRIK IRONWARD — 4
OWEN STARLING — 2
DORIAN ARGENT — 1
PIERS HOLLOWAY — 1
KRYST FELLWINTER — 0
Paul Redford: "And the result leaves Eirik Ironward comfortably ahead of both competitors."
Dave Kent: "That's the consequence."
A pause.
Dave Kent: "Twenty minutes of work. One point each. Neither man made up meaningful ground on the leader."
Dorian and Piers leave the ring separately.
Paul Redford: "A competitive start to tonight's Crucible, but no winner in our opening contest."
Dave Kent: "Competitive is fine. But somebody eventually has to finish."

MATCH 2 – Esme Nightshade Vs Prototype LEXA9
ANVIL BLOCK — WOMEN
The Academy monitor changes to the women's Anvil Block standings.
CORVINA ASH — 2 POINTS
ESME NIGHTSHADE — 2 POINTS
SORINA — 2 POINTS
PATCHWORK PEG — 0 POINTS
PROTOTYPE LEXA9 — YET TO COMPETE
Paul Redford: "Our second contest features Esme Nightshade, who earned her first Quarter Four victory against Sorina, taking on Prototype LEXA9 in her opening singles match of the quarter."
Dave Kent: "And I particularly like this matchup because both women have demonstrated an ability to identify a weakness and finish a match."
Esme Nightshade enters first.
Her movements are deliberate, her expression confident.
Footage from her victory against Sorina briefly appears on the monitor.
WITCHING HOUR.
Three-count.
Paul Redford: "Esme demonstrated against Sorina that once she finds the opening for the Witching Hour, a match can end very quickly."
Dave Kent: "And the question tonight is whether she can establish that opportunity against an opponent who specializes in preventing people from getting comfortable."
Prototype LEXA9 enters next.
Her expression remains unreadable as she approaches the ring.
She studies Esme without acknowledging the audience.
Paul Redford: "LEXA9 was particularly effective in the recent tag-team evaluation, applying the System Lock to force Patchwork Peg to submit."
Dave Kent: "Which tells us she's not just dangerous because of strength or athleticism. She recognizes vulnerable positions and attacks them systematically."
'Honest' Abe checks both women.
The bell rings.
Minute 1
Prototype LEXA9 strikes immediately.
She catches Esme Nightshade during the opening engagement and attacks the leg.
SYSTEM LOCK!
The High-Angle Calf Lock is secured before Esme can establish any offense.
Esme struggles against the pressure.
Paul Redford: "System Lock in the opening minute! LEXA9 wasting absolutely no time!"
Dave Kent: "Excellent. Establish the problem immediately. Now Esme knows that every movement involving that leg carries a risk."
Minute 2
Esme manages to recover and answers with a Tilt-A-Whirl Slam.
LEXA9 absorbs the landing and fires back with Jabs followed by an Overhand Right.
Paul Redford: "Esme demonstrating that she can respond physically."
Dave Kent: "And LEXA9 refuses to allow her to settle. That's going to be important as the match continues."
Minute 3
Esme catches LEXA9 coming forward.
NIGHTSHADE SLAM!
The Spinning Sidewalk Slam drives LEXA9 into the canvas.
But LEXA9 responds with a Fireman's Carry Gutbuster.
Both women separate.
Paul Redford: "Heavy offense from both competitors."
Dave Kent: "And neither one has surrendered control of the match. That's encouraging. We're seeing two wrestlers who are capable of answering pressure."
Minute 4
LEXA9 attempts to return to the leg.
SINGLE LEG CRAB—
Esme recognizes the attempt and neutralizes it before the hold can be established.
Paul Redford: "Nightshade saw that submission coming."
Dave Kent: "Good defensive adjustment. She already learned what happens when LEXA9 gets control of the leg."
Minute 5
Esme finds an opening.
WITCHING HOUR!
The Widow's Peak Neckbreaker connects.
LEXA9 survives the attack and responds during the continuation.
POWERBOMB!
Esme crashes into the canvas.
Paul Redford: "Witching Hour from Esme, but LEXA9 answers with a Powerbomb!"
Dave Kent: "That's a significant exchange. Esme landed the move that finished Sorina, and LEXA9 is still fighting."
Minute 6
Esme creates separation and drives forward.
SUPERKICK!
The strike sends LEXA9 through the ropes and onto the floor.
'Honest' Abe begins counting.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Five.
LEXA9 begins moving toward the apron.
Six.
Seven.
LEXA9 returns to the ring.
Paul Redford: "Prototype LEXA9 back inside at seven."
Dave Kent: "And that was important. Esme had her in a dangerous position, but LEXA9 recognized the count and returned without allowing the match to get away from her."
Minute 7
Esme attempts to maintain pressure.
SNAP SUPLEX!
LEXA9 recovers and catches her during the follow-up.
HANGMAN'S NECKBREAKER!
Paul Redford: "LEXA9 returning to offense despite the punishment from the Superkick."
Dave Kent: "That's a very useful response. She didn't spend the next minute recovering mentally from being thrown outside."
Minute 8
Esme connects with another Snap Suplex.
LEXA9 recovers and immediately attacks the leg again.
SINGLE LEG CRAB!
Esme struggles against the pressure.
Paul Redford: "Back to the leg for Prototype LEXA9."
Dave Kent: "And that's the difference between having a move and having a strategy. She established the leg as a target in the first minute. Eight minutes later, she's still working on it."
Minute 9
LEXA9 changes her point of attack.
SNAP CORKSCREW NECKBREAKER!
Esme attempts to defend but takes the impact.
Paul Redford: "LEXA9 beginning to accumulate significant offense."
Dave Kent: "And notice the variation. She's attacking the leg to restrict movement, then using the upper-body attacks to increase the punishment."
Minute 10
Esme fights back with another Tilt-A-Whirl Slam.
LEXA9 answers by powering her opponent upward.
POWERBOMB!
Esme crashes down.
Paul Redford: "Another Powerbomb from LEXA9!"
Dave Kent: "And Esme is beginning to have difficulty interrupting those heavier attacks."
Minute 11
LEXA9 returns to the leg.
SINGLE LEG CRAB!
The submission is secured.
Esme grimaces but refuses to surrender.
She fights through the pressure.
Paul Redford: "The leg has become a serious problem for Esme Nightshade."
Dave Kent: "Exactly. Eleven minutes into the contest, and LEXA9 is still returning to the same weakness. That isn't accidental."
Minute 12
Both women struggle for position.
LEXA9 creates an opening.
HANGMAN'S NECKBREAKER!
Esme takes the full impact.
LEXA9 immediately covers.
One!
Two!
Esme kicks out.
Paul Redford: "Near fall! Prototype LEXA9 almost secures her opening singles victory!"
Dave Kent: "Excellent cover after a successful attack. But Esme still has enough awareness to escape."
Minute 13
Esme rallies.
WITCHING HOUR!
The Widow's Peak Neckbreaker lands again.
LEXA9 manages to survive and answers during the ensuing exchange with another Fireman's Carry Gutbuster.
Paul Redford: "A second Witching Hour! Esme is refusing to surrender this match!"
Dave Kent: "And that's why she's dangerous. Even after absorbing sustained punishment, she can still find the move that finishes opponents."
Minute 14
Esme attacks with a Spinning Heel Kick.
LEXA9 withstands the exchange and gets underneath her opponent.
POWERBOMB!
Esme hits the canvas hard.
Paul Redford: "Another major collision. Fourteen minutes of increasingly physical competition."
Dave Kent: "And the problem for Esme is becoming clear. She has landed the Witching Hour twice, but LEXA9 continues producing the stronger follow-up."
Minute 15
Esme attempts to regain her footing.
LEXA9 sees the opening.
She immediately attacks the damaged leg.
SYSTEM LOCK!
The High-Angle Calf Lock is secured again.
Esme attempts to defend.
She cannot break the control.
LEXA9 maintains the leg trap and forces Esme's shoulders into a pinning position.
'Honest' Abe drops to count.
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
BELL.
Prototype LEXA9 releases the System Lock.
Esme Nightshade remains on the canvas, holding her leg.
PROTOTYPE LEXA9 defeats ESME NIGHTSHADE by pinfall at 15 Minute Mark – LEXA9 trapped Esme in the System Lock (High-Angle Calf Lock), maintaining control of her leg and shoulders to secure the three-count.
The Academy crowd responds strongly.
Paul Redford: "Prototype LEXA9 wins her Quarter Four singles debut!"
Dave Kent: "And that was a tremendous example of following a strategy."
The replay begins.
The opening-minute System Lock.
The Single Leg Crab.
The repeated Powerbombs.
The final System Lock.
Paul Redford: "LEXA9 targeted the leg from the opening minute and ultimately used that control to secure the victory."
Dave Kent: "Exactly. She didn't abandon the plan when Esme landed the Witching Hour. She didn't panic when the first submission attempts failed. She returned to the same weakness until it produced a result."
The standings update.
ANVIL BLOCK — WOMEN
CORVINA ASH — 2
ESME NIGHTSHADE — 2
SORINA — 2
PROTOTYPE LEXA9 — 2
PATCHWORK PEG — 0
Paul Redford: "And the result creates a four-way tie at two points in the women's Anvil Block."
Dave Kent: "Which makes every remaining match more important."
Prototype LEXA9 approaches the commentary desk.
She remains composed, showing little outward reaction to the victory.
Paul Redford: "LEXA9, congratulations. Fifteen minutes against Esme Nightshade, and you finished with the System Lock. Was the leg your intended target from the beginning?"
Prototype LEXA9: "Yes. Lower-body stability determines mobility, offensive positioning, and defensive recovery. Restricting that stability increased the likelihood of a successful finish."
Dave Kent: "You absorbed two Witching Hours. Did either one change your approach?"
Prototype LEXA9: "Negative. Both attacks increased the importance of maintaining control. Abandoning a productive strategy would have reduced the probability of victory."
Paul Redford: "And now you're tied with three other competitors on two points."
LEXA9 glances toward the monitor.
Prototype LEXA9: "Current standing acknowledged. Objective remains unchanged."
Dave Kent: "Which is?"
Prototype LEXA9: "Advance."
She turns and leaves.
Dave watches her go.
Dave Kent: "Short answer. Good wrestling."
Paul Redford: "And a very important opening victory for Prototype LEXA9."

MATCH 3 – Penny Coppersnap Vs Beatrice Boup
HAMMER BLOCK — WOMEN
The Academy screen changes to the women's Hammer Block standings.
LENORE VALMONT — 2 POINTS
PATCHWORK PAIGE — 2 POINTS
BRIDGET O'HARE — 1 POINT
PENNY COPPERSNAP — 1 POINT
BEATRICE BOUP — YET TO COMPETE
Paul Redford: "Our third contest brings us into the women's Hammer Block, where Penny Coppersnap returns to action against Beatrice Boup."
Dave Kent: "And this is a very interesting test for both women."
Penny Coppersnap appears first.
Her entrance is an energetic explosion of bouncing steps, jingling accessories and enthusiastic waves toward the crowd.
She briefly reaches into one of the small pouches at her waist.
Whatever she retrieves is too small for the camera to identify.
She appears to consider it carefully before returning it to the pouch.
Paul Redford: "Penny certainly made an impression in her Academy debut against Bridget O'Hare."
Dave Kent: "She did. But the double countout demonstrated the problem. Enthusiasm doesn't excuse losing track of where the match is being decided."
Beatrice Boup enters next.
She approaches the ring with considerably more focus and less ceremony.
Paul Redford: "Beatrice begins her Quarter Four singles campaign tonight. We saw her working effectively with Prototype LEXA9 against the Patchwork Dolls during the recent tag-team evaluation."
Dave Kent: "And now she needs to show what she can do without a partner. Beatrice has the athleticism and the fundamentals. Let's see whether she can combine them into a result."
'Honest' Abe checks both wrestlers.
Penny gives Beatrice a cheerful little wave.
Beatrice acknowledges her with a short nod.
The bell rings.
Minute 1
Both women initially circle, looking for an opening.
Beatrice strikes first.
DIVING CROSSBODY!
Penny attempts to defend but is caught by the attack.
Paul Redford: "Immediate athleticism from Beatrice Boup."
Dave Kent: "Good. Against a wrestler as unpredictable as Penny, establish your own rhythm before she can establish hers."
Minute 2
Beatrice launches into a Flying Dropkick.
Penny recognizes the attack and moves clear.
The Dropkick is neutralized.
Paul Redford: "Penny anticipated that one."
Dave Kent: "Good awareness. Her movements might look chaotic, but she recognized the attack and defended properly."
Minute 3
Penny bounds forward.
PIXIE KICK POP!
The Dropkick connects.
Beatrice recovers and immediately fires back with a Flying Dropkick of her own.
Paul Redford: "Both women demonstrating excellent agility."
Dave Kent: "And Beatrice gets the better of that exchange. She's not allowing Penny to turn the match into a contest of pure speed."
Minute 4
Penny catches Beatrice during the next engagement.
HEAD HEX DRIVER!
The DDT plants Beatrice on the canvas.
Beatrice recovers sufficiently to launch another Diving Crossbody.
Paul Redford: "Rapid exchanges from both competitors."
Dave Kent: "And Penny is showing us something useful. She's not relying exclusively on aerial movement. That DDT gives her another way to interrupt an opponent."
Minute 5
Beatrice creates an opening.
MULE KICK!
Penny attempts to defend but takes the strike.
Beatrice immediately covers.
One!
Two!
Penny kicks out.
Paul Redford: "Beatrice with the first major pinning attempt of the match!"
Dave Kent: "And that's encouraging. She saw an opening and immediately tried to convert it into a victory."
Minute 6
Penny answers with another Head Hex Driver.
Beatrice battles through the impact and takes control of the lower body.
BOSTON CRAB!
Penny struggles against the pressure.
Paul Redford: "Beatrice now trying to slow Penny down."
Dave Kent: "Correct strategy. Penny is dangerous when she can bounce around the ring. Make her legs work harder."
Minute 7
Penny creates space.
SNAPSNARE SUPLEX!
Beatrice recovers during the continuation.
MONKEY FLIP!
The attack sends Penny over the ropes and onto the floor.
'Honest' Abe begins counting.
One.
Two.
Three.
Penny scrambles toward the apron.
Four.
Five.
Penny slides beneath the bottom rope and returns to the ring.
Paul Redford: "Back inside at five!"
Dave Kent: "Good."
Paul Redford: "You sound particularly pleased."
Dave Kent: "Because last week she got trapped outside and allowed the match to end without a winner. This time she recognized the count and returned."
The replay shows Penny immediately heading toward the ring.
Dave Kent: "That's a correction."
Minute 8
Penny launches another Pixie Kick Pop.
Beatrice absorbs the Dropkick and responds with a Mule Kick.
Paul Redford: "Neither competitor giving much ground."
Dave Kent: "And Beatrice continues to answer the speed with direct offense."
Minute 9
Penny catches Beatrice coming forward.
WICKED SPINNER SPECIAL!
The Spinning Snapmare Driver plants Beatrice.
Beatrice fights back with another Diving Crossbody.
Paul Redford: "Wicked Spinner Special from Penny Coppersnap!"
Dave Kent: "And that's a dangerous attack. But once again, Beatrice finds an answer before Penny can build on it."
Minute 10
Penny returns to the same attack.
WICKED SPINNER SPECIAL!
Beatrice crashes into the canvas.
She attempts to recover with another Flying Dropkick but cannot connect.
Paul Redford: "Penny beginning to find success with the Wicked Spinner Special."
Dave Kent: "And that's important. She's identified a move that works. Now she needs to build on it rather than immediately abandoning the advantage."
Minute 11
Beatrice regains control.
FLYING HEADSCISSORS!
Penny is thrown across the canvas.
She absorbs the punishment and struggles back to her feet.
Paul Redford: "Beatrice preventing Penny from establishing sustained momentum."
Dave Kent: "And that's why this is a useful evaluation. Both women have offense. Neither has yet shown an ability to keep the other under control."
Minute 12
Penny catches Beatrice during the next engagement.
GLIMMERBOMB TOSS!
The Exploder Suplex launches Beatrice across the ring.
She cannot defend against the attack.
Paul Redford: "Excellent Glimmerbomb Toss!"
Dave Kent: "And that's the kind of offense I like from Penny. Fast setup, effective execution, and enough impact to change the direction of the match."
Minute 13
Penny continues the pressure.
HEAD HEX DRIVER!
Beatrice attempts to defend but cannot prevent the DDT.
Paul Redford: "Two consecutive successful attacks from Penny Coppersnap."
Dave Kent: "And that's the first stretch in a while where she's managed to connect meaningful offense without immediately allowing Beatrice to take control."
Minute 14
Penny launches another Pixie Kick Pop.
Beatrice survives and immediately attacks the legs again.
BOSTON CRAB!
Penny struggles against the submission.
Paul Redford: "Beatrice returning to the Boston Crab."
Dave Kent: "And that's good recognition. The longer this match continues, the more important it becomes to attack the muscles Penny needs for all that movement."
Minute 15
Penny escapes and scrambles upright.
She catches Beatrice coming forward.
WICKED SPINNER SPECIAL!
Beatrice attempts to defend but takes the full impact.
Paul Redford: "Another Wicked Spinner Special! Penny has found repeated success with that move."
Dave Kent: "And now we're entering the part of the match where that accumulated damage becomes important. Five minutes remain."
Minute 16
Penny continues attacking.
GLIMMERBOMB TOSS!
Beatrice hits hard.
She manages to recover and traps Penny in another Boston Crab.
Paul Redford: "Penny delivers another major throw, but Beatrice answers with the submission again."
Dave Kent: "And that's intelligent wrestling from Beatrice. She recognizes that Penny is beginning to build momentum and attacks the legs to interrupt it."
Minute 17
Penny fights free.
She springs forward.
PIXIE KICK POP!
Beatrice attempts to defend but takes the Dropkick.
Paul Redford: "Penny showing remarkable energy after seventeen minutes."
Dave Kent: "Yes, but energy isn't the question anymore. She's proven she can keep moving. Now she needs to produce the finish."
Minute 18
Penny gets underneath Beatrice.
SNAPSNARE SUPLEX!
Beatrice takes the landing and struggles to recover.
Paul Redford: "Penny Coppersnap controlling the closing stages."
Dave Kent: "And this is exactly where she needs to recognize the opportunity. Don't waste the advantage. Two minutes left."
Minute 19
Penny launches herself forward.
PENNY DROP PANIC!
The Wheelbarrow Flatliner drives Beatrice down.
But Beatrice manages to fight back.
KANGAROO FLIP!
Penny is taken over.
Beatrice holds the pinning position.
ONE!
TWO!
Penny kicks out!
Paul Redford: "Oh, that was close! Beatrice Boup nearly steals the victory in the nineteenth minute!"
Dave Kent: "And that's exactly the danger. Penny was having the better of the closing stages, but one counter almost ended the match."
Minute 20
The Academy crowd begins urging both wrestlers forward.
Penny scrambles back to her feet.
She catches Beatrice.
GLIMMERBOMB TOSS!
Beatrice crashes down.
She fights to recover.
Penny approaches again.
MULE KICK from Beatrice!
Penny staggers backward.
Both women struggle to maintain their footing.
Penny moves forward again—
BELL.
The twenty-minute time limit has expired.
Both women stop.
Penny looks toward the timekeeper.
Beatrice places her hands on her knees, breathing heavily.
PENNY COPPERSNAP and BEATRICE BOUP wrestled to a 20 minute DRAW
The Academy crowd applauds the effort from both competitors.
Paul Redford: "Twenty minutes! And once again, Penny Coppersnap has wrestled to a draw!"
Dave Kent: "For very different reasons this time."
The replay begins.
The early Diving Crossbody.
The Boston Crab.
Penny returning to the ring at five.
The Wicked Spinner Special.
The Kangaroo Flip near fall.
The final Glimmerbomb Toss.
Paul Redford: "Penny now has two points from two matches, but still no Quarter Four victory."
Dave Kent: "And here's the difference. Last week she allowed the fight to move outside and lost track of the count. Tonight she corrected that."
The replay shows Penny returning at five.
Dave Kent: "Good. That's development."
The screen changes to the final exchange.
Dave Kent: "But she still didn't finish."
Paul Redford: "And Beatrice Boup earns a point in her opening singles match."
Dave Kent: "She demonstrated excellent athleticism and some intelligent submission work. She also nearly stole the match in the nineteenth minute."
The Kangaroo Flip appears again.
Dave Kent: "But a near fall isn't a victory."
The screen updates.
HAMMER BLOCK — WOMEN
LENORE VALMONT — 2
PATCHWORK PAIGE — 2
PENNY COPPERSNAP — 2
BRIDGET O'HARE — 1
BEATRICE BOUP — 1
Paul Redford: "And now Penny joins Lenore Valmont and Patchwork Paige on two points."
Dave Kent: "But the other two earned their points by winning matches. Penny has earned both of hers through draws."
Inside the ring, Penny approaches Beatrice.
She offers a cheerful handshake.
Beatrice accepts.
Penny appears to say something that makes Beatrice smile despite her frustration.
Paul Redford: "Good sportsmanship between the competitors."
Dave Kent: "And I'll give Penny credit. She competed for twenty minutes, stayed in the ring when it mattered, and showed us a wider offensive range than we saw in her debut."
Paul Redford: "But?"
Dave Kent: "But somebody needs to explain to her that professional wrestling isn't a contest to see who has the most entertaining twenty minutes."
Penny waves enthusiastically to the crowd before leaving the ring.
Dave Kent: "You get two points for winning."
He looks toward the standings.
Dave Kent: "She keeps finding ways to earn one."
Paul Redford: "And later tonight, our second Wrestler Spotlight will take a closer look at the remarkable personality behind Penny Coppersnap."
Dave Kent: "That should be interesting."
The screen fades toward the main-event graphic.

MATCH 4 – CHAT XYZ Vs Finn Oakheart
HAMMER BLOCK — MEN
The broadcast returns to the Academy ring.
The crowd remains energetic following the twenty-minute draw between Penny Coppersnap and Beatrice Boup.
The monitor displays the men's Hammer Block standings.
CHAT XYZ — 2 POINTS
CALEB GRAVES — 2 POINTS
NIKOLAS NOCTURNE — 1 POINT
DANTE ROOK — 1 POINT
FINN OAKHEART — YET TO COMPETE
Paul Redford: "And now we reach tonight's main event. CHAT XYZ, whose first Academy match produced a stunning victory over the reigning Iron General, returns to face Finn Oakheart."
Dave Kent: "And this is where the evaluation becomes interesting."
Paul Redford: "Because CHAT XYZ has already defeated Nikolas Nocturne?"
Dave Kent: "Exactly. We know he can beat a very good wrestler. We don't yet know whether he can do it consistently."
CHAT XYZ enters first.
The Academy audience gives him a strong reaction.
His victory over Nikolas Nocturne remains one of the most discussed moments of the early quarter.
The monitor briefly replays the finish.
Bridging Double Leg Nelson.
Three-count.
Paul Redford: "Few wrestlers announce their arrival by defeating the reigning Iron General."
Dave Kent: "And fewer still understand that the next match is just as important as the first."
Finn Oakheart enters next.
He approaches the ring with a determined expression.
For Finn, tonight represents his Quarter Four singles debut.
Paul Redford: "Finn Oakheart begins his quarter against the man who upset Nikolas Nocturne. Certainly no easy opening assignment."
Dave Kent: "But a tremendous opportunity. If Finn wins tonight, everybody has to reconsider just how much that opening-week upset tells us."
'Fast Count' Frank checks both wrestlers.
The Academy crowd begins pounding against the barricades.
Frank signals for the bell.
Minute 1
CHAT XYZ opens by attacking the arm.
ARM WRINGER!
Finn fights through the pressure and gets underneath his opponent.
HANGING VERTICAL SUPLEX!
CHAT XYZ crashes into the canvas.
Paul Redford: "Immediate power from Finn Oakheart."
Dave Kent: "And a very good opening. CHAT XYZ wants to establish control of the limbs. Finn is showing that he's not going to remain in those positions willingly."
Minute 2
Finn presses the advantage.
He catches CHAT XYZ during the next engagement.
PILEDRIVER!
CHAT XYZ attempts to defend but cannot prevent the impact.
Paul Redford: "Huge Piledriver from Finn Oakheart!"
Dave Kent: "And that's exactly the kind of opening Finn needed. He's forcing CHAT XYZ to deal with significant punishment before he can establish his preferred approach."
Minute 3
CHAT XYZ manages to answer with a Double Knee Lift.
Finn absorbs the attack and immediately catches him again.
PILEDRIVER!
CHAT XYZ is planted.
Finn covers.
ONE!
CHAT XYZ kicks out.
Paul Redford: "Second Piledriver of the match, but CHAT XYZ escapes the cover."
Dave Kent: "And that's important. Finn has established the heavier offense, but he needs to understand that damage doesn't automatically equal a finish."
Minute 4
CHAT XYZ returns to the arm.
ARM WRINGER!
Finn counters the control by securing a Side Headlock.
He forces CHAT XYZ to carry his weight.
Paul Redford: "Finn again preventing CHAT XYZ from establishing the technical control we saw against Nikolas Nocturne."
Dave Kent: "And it's not complicated. Finn is making him carry weight, defend position, and work from underneath."
Minute 5
CHAT XYZ attempts a Snapmare.
Finn recognizes the movement and reverses it.
ATOMIC DROP!
CHAT XYZ attempts to defend but takes the impact.
Paul Redford: "Excellent reversal from Finn Oakheart."
Dave Kent: "And that's the kind of thing we were asking before the match. Can CHAT XYZ reproduce the control he demonstrated in his debut? So far, Finn has been denying him those opportunities."
Minute 6
Both men initially struggle for position.
Finn creates an opening.
HEADBUTT!
CHAT XYZ attempts to defend but is caught flush.
Paul Redford: "Another successful attack from Finn."
Dave Kent: "And CHAT XYZ is beginning to spend too much time reacting. That's not how he won his first Academy match."
Minute 7
CHAT XYZ manages to regain some control.
JUDO ARM DRAG!
Finn recovers and catches him during the continuation.
HANGING VERTICAL SUPLEX!
CHAT XYZ crashes down again.
Paul Redford: "Finn Oakheart continuing to answer the technical offense with power."
Dave Kent: "And this is the difference in the match. CHAT XYZ is landing individual attacks. Finn is repeatedly returning to the same physical advantage."
Minute 8
The wrestlers struggle briefly for position.
Finn secures another Side Headlock.
CHAT XYZ attempts to work free but is forced to absorb the pressure.
Paul Redford: "Finn controlling the pace again."
Dave Kent: "And that's something people often underestimate. A basic Headlock can become extremely effective when you use it to interrupt somebody else's strategy."
Minute 9
CHAT XYZ creates space.
ARM DRAG!
Finn regains his footing and powers his opponent upward.
HANGING VERTICAL SUPLEX!
CHAT XYZ hits the canvas hard.
Paul Redford: "Another Hanging Vertical Suplex from Finn Oakheart."
Dave Kent: "And CHAT XYZ needs to recognize the problem. He keeps creating separation without preventing Finn from closing it again."
Minute 10
CHAT XYZ answers with another Arm Drag.
Finn immediately secures a Side Headlock.
CHAT XYZ is forced to work from underneath again.
Paul Redford: "Ten minutes completed, and Finn has dictated much of the match."
Dave Kent: "Which means the evaluation is becoming very clear. CHAT XYZ has technical ability, but Finn has consistently prevented him from turning that ability into sustained control."
Minute 11
CHAT XYZ manages to attack the arm again.
ARM WRINGER!
Finn survives the pressure and counters the next engagement.
ATOMIC DROP!
CHAT XYZ takes the impact.
Paul Redford: "Another Atomic Drop from Finn Oakheart."
Dave Kent: "And Finn is wrestling a very disciplined match. He's not becoming distracted by the reputation of the man he is facing."
Minute 12
CHAT XYZ creates an opening and drives a Double Knee Lift into Finn.
Finn absorbs the strike and catches him during the continuation.
BACKBREAKER!
CHAT XYZ arches across the knee.
Paul Redford: "Finn Oakheart continuing to accumulate damage."
Dave Kent: "And now we reach the point where CHAT XYZ has to do more than demonstrate he can survive this punishment. He needs to change the match."
Minute 13
CHAT XYZ attempts to recover.
Finn closes immediately.
He secures his opponent.
HANGING VERTICAL SUPLEX!
Finn holds CHAT XYZ suspended before driving him into the canvas.
CHAT XYZ takes the full impact.
Finn immediately moves into the cover.
'Fast Count' Frank drops to the canvas.
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
BELL.
The Academy crowd erupts.
Finn Oakheart rises to his knees as the referee signals the decision.
FINN OAKHEART defeats CHAT XYZ by pinfall at 13 Minute Mark – Finn pinned CHAT XYZ following a Hanging Vertical Suplex.
'Fast Count' Frank raises Finn Oakheart's hand.
Paul Redford: "Finn Oakheart wins his Quarter Four singles debut!"
Dave Kent: "And that was a very impressive performance."
The replay begins.
The opening Hanging Vertical Suplex.
The early Piledrivers.
The reversed Snapmare.
The repeated Headlocks.
The Backbreaker.
And the final Hanging Vertical Suplex.
Paul Redford: "CHAT XYZ entered tonight following a victory over the reigning Iron General. But Finn Oakheart controlled much of this contest."
Dave Kent: "And that's exactly what impressed me. Finn didn't wrestle as though he needed to prove he could outperform CHAT XYZ technically."
The replay shows another Hanging Vertical Suplex.
Dave Kent: "He identified where he had an advantage and repeatedly returned to it."
Paul Redford: "And for CHAT XYZ, the first defeat of his Academy career."
Dave Kent: "Which is valuable information."
Paul Redford: "Even after the victory against Nikolas Nocturne?"
Dave Kent: "Especially after that victory."
Dave leans forward.
Dave Kent: "One match told us CHAT XYZ could beat the Iron General. Tonight told us he can be controlled by a wrestler who refuses to let him establish his preferred rhythm."
The monitor changes to the updated standings.
HAMMER BLOCK — MEN
CHAT XYZ — 2 POINTS
CALEB GRAVES — 2 POINTS
FINN OAKHEART — 2 POINTS
NIKOLAS NOCTURNE — 1 POINT
DANTE ROOK — 1 POINT
Paul Redford: "And with that victory, Finn Oakheart joins CHAT XYZ and Caleb Graves on two points."
Dave Kent: "Three men tied at the top. The reigning Iron General sitting below them. That's an interesting block."
Finn Oakheart approaches the commentary desk.
He is breathing heavily but appears satisfied with the result.
Paul Redford: "Finn, congratulations. Thirteen minutes against the man who defeated Nikolas Nocturne. How significant is this victory?"
Finn Oakheart: "It means I started the quarter the right way."
Dave Kent: "You returned to the Hanging Vertical Suplex repeatedly. Was that deliberate?"
Finn Oakheart: "Absolutely. I knew he could wrestle. I knew he could counter. But I wanted him defending my offense instead of setting up his own."
Dave nods approvingly.
Dave Kent: "And you never allowed the result against Nocturne to intimidate you."
Finn Oakheart: "Why would I?"
Finn looks toward the monitor.
Finn Oakheart: "CHAT XYZ beat Nikolas Nocturne. Good for him."
A pause.
Finn Oakheart: "Tonight he wrestled me."
He looks directly toward Dave.
Finn Oakheart: "And I won."
Finn leaves the commentary desk.
Dave watches him go.
Dave Kent: "Excellent answer."
Paul Redford: "And a tremendous opening victory for Finn Oakheart."
The camera returns to the ring.
CHAT XYZ has returned to his feet.
He looks toward the Academy monitor.
The standings remain visible.
CHAT XYZ — 2 POINTS.
FINN OAKHEART — 2 POINTS.
For several moments, CHAT XYZ studies the numbers.
Then he looks toward the entrance through which Finn disappeared.
He leaves the ring without incident.
Paul Redford: "Two matches into his Academy career, CHAT XYZ has experienced both ends of the evaluation process."
Dave Kent: "Exactly."
Dave looks toward the ring.
Dave Kent: "He beat the Iron General. Then he lost to Finn Oakheart."
A pause.
Dave Kent: "Now comes the important question."
Paul Redford: "Which is?"
Dave Kent: "What did he learn from the difference?"
The Academy monitor fades to black.
A single line appears.
ONE VICTORY GETS ATTENTION.
Then another.
CONSISTENCY EARNS OPPORTUNITY.
Paul Redford: "A significant main event, and another important night of Quarter Four competition. But our broadcast isn't finished."
Dave Kent: "Not quite."
Paul Redford: "Still to come, our second Wrestler Spotlight. We'll take a closer look at one of the Academy's most unusual new recruits."
A cheerful brass whistle sounds.
Dave turns toward the monitor.
Dave Kent: "Oh, here we go."
The Academy screen suddenly fills with colorful ribbons, copper coins and sparkling trinkets.
SPOTLIGHT ON ...
"WHISTLE WICK" PENNY COPPERSNAP
Paul Redford: "And after another twenty-minute draw tonight, perhaps it's time we found out exactly what makes Penny Coppersnap tick."
Dave Kent: "I suspect the answer is going to involve an awful lot of noise."
The little brass whistle sounds again.
The screen fades into the Whistle Wick Market vignette.

VIGNETTE: "THE WHISTLE WICK MARKET"
The broadcast returns to the Iron Ring Academy.
The overhead lights surrounding the ring dim as the large monitor flickers to life.
Instead of the familiar Academy training footage, the screen fills with something entirely different.
A tiny brass bell rings.
Then another.
A cheerful, slightly crooked whistle melody begins playing.
The camera opens on a narrow cobblestone marketplace beneath a canopy of mismatched colorful fabrics.
Small wooden stalls line the passage. Strings of copper coins, colored glass beads, dried flowers, ribbons and peculiar little bottles hang from crooked hooks.
A handwritten wooden sign swings above the nearest stall.
THE WHISTLE WICK MARKET
LUCK BOUGHT, SOLD & OCCASIONALLY BORROWED
NO REFUNDS. EXCHANGES ENCOURAGED.
Something rustles behind the counter.
A small hand appears.
Then another.
A shower of glitter explodes into the air.
Penny Coppersnap: "COME BUY! COME BUY! COME BUY!"
Penny Coppersnap suddenly pops up from behind the counter, grinning from ear to ear.
Her outfit is an extravagant collection of colorful fabrics, glittering accessories, little bells and carefully mismatched ornaments. Several small pouches hang from her belt.
She carries a tiny brass whistle on a cord around her neck.
Penny spreads her arms dramatically.
Penny Coppersnap: "Welcome, welcome, welcome to the finest little market this side of the fairy hills!"
She leans close to the camera.
Penny Coppersnap: "Unless you're from the fairy hills. In which case, hello, neighbors!"
She waves enthusiastically.
Penny Coppersnap: "Penny Coppersnap at your service! Collector of curiosities! Trader of treasures! Merchant of marvelous little miracles!"
She pauses.
Penny Coppersnap: "And professional wrestler!"
Penny raises one finger.
Penny Coppersnap: "That's the important bit."
She reaches beneath the counter and produces a small wooden box.
Inside are an assortment of colorful objects that appear to have absolutely no relationship to one another.
A polished button.
A bent copper coin.
A tiny blue ribbon.
A small brass thimble.
A painted wooden acorn.
Penny arranges them carefully along the counter.
Penny Coppersnap: "Now, some people come to market looking for gold. Some come looking for silver. Some come looking for apples, pears, plums and the occasional suspiciously singing peach."
She glances toward a basket of fruit.
Penny Coppersnap: "Never trust the singing peaches."
A beat.
Penny Coppersnap: "They know things."
She looks back at the camera.
Penny Coppersnap: "But me? Oh, I trade in something much more valuable."
She produces a tiny velvet pouch.
With exaggerated ceremony, she opens it.
She peers inside.
Then turns it upside down.
Nothing falls out.
Penny Coppersnap: "LUCK!"
She beams proudly.
The camera lingers on the completely empty pouch.
Penny Coppersnap: "Best quality, naturally."
She closes the pouch and tucks it away.
Penny Coppersnap: "The trouble with luck, of course, is that you can't always see it."
She leans closer again.
Penny Coppersnap: "And you certainly can't return it once you've spent it."
Penny winks.
The whistle melody becomes slightly faster.
The camera cuts to a series of colorful close-ups as Penny enthusiastically demonstrates her merchandise.
First, the blue ribbon.
Penny Coppersnap: "A ribbon for balance! Very useful when you're standing on ropes that absolutely refuse to stand still!"
She balances the ribbon on one finger.
It immediately falls.
Penny Coppersnap: "Needs more luck."
She picks up the polished button.
Penny Coppersnap: "A button for courage! Brave little button. Never been frightened of anything in its whole life."
She considers it.
Penny Coppersnap: "Mostly because it's a button."
Next, the wooden acorn.
Penny Coppersnap: "And an acorn for patience."
She holds it up.
Penny Coppersnap: "Tiny today. Mighty tomorrow."
A pause.
Penny Coppersnap: "Assuming nobody steps on it."
She hurriedly puts the acorn somewhere safe.
Finally, Penny picks up the bent copper coin.
Her expression changes slightly.
Penny Coppersnap: "And this one..."
She turns the coin between her fingers.
Penny Coppersnap: "...is for remembering."
The cheerful music fades a little.
Penny studies the coin for another moment.
Penny Coppersnap: "Because sometimes the market gives you a bargain."
She looks directly toward the camera.
Penny Coppersnap: "And sometimes you pay more than you meant to."
The image suddenly changes.
IRON RING ACADEMY — QUARTER FOUR
Footage from Penny Coppersnap's Academy debut begins playing.
Penny charges across the ring against Bridget O'Hare.
Her movements are astonishingly quick, frequently unconventional and occasionally appear to surprise Penny almost as much as they surprise Bridget.
GOBFLIP GLEAM!
Bridget is caught off guard.
Another exchange.
GLIMMERBOMB TOSS!
Penny scrambles across the canvas, barely pausing before launching into another attack.
GREED GOBLIN SLAM!
The Academy crowd reacts enthusiastically.
Penny's recorded voice continues over the footage.
Penny Coppersnap: "Oh, I had such a lovely time!"
The footage shows another frantic exchange.
Penny Coppersnap: "There was running! And jumping! And throwing! And getting thrown!"
Penny tumbles awkwardly before scrambling upright.
Penny Coppersnap: "That last one's less lovely, but you take the rough with the shiny!"
The footage moves toward the closing minutes.
Penny launches herself through the ropes.
SHINY SNATCH DIVE!
She collides with Bridget near the barricade.
Both women go down.
The referee begins counting.
Six.
Seven.
Eight.
Nine.
Ten.
The bell rings.
PENNY COPPERSNAP & BRIDGET O'HARE
20-MINUTE DOUBLE COUNTOUT
1 POINT EACH
The footage freezes.
The screen cuts back to Penny's marketplace.
She is still holding the bent copper coin.
Penny Coppersnap: "Now, here's the thing about that match."
She places the coin on the counter.
Penny Coppersnap: "I thought I was having a wonderful time."
She smiles.
Penny Coppersnap: "And I was!"
The smile becomes smaller.
Penny Coppersnap: "But when the bell rang..."
She spreads her hands.
Penny Coppersnap: "...nobody won."
A short silence follows.
Penny Coppersnap: "Which is a funny thing, isn't it?"
Penny looks toward the camera.
Penny Coppersnap: "Because I was having fun. The people watching were having fun. Bridget was..."
She thinks.
Penny Coppersnap: "...well, Bridget was probably having a slightly different kind of fun."
Penny shrugs.
Penny Coppersnap: "But there wasn't a winner."
She picks up the coin again.
Penny Coppersnap: "And apparently that's something the Iron Ring Academy takes rather seriously."
A new sound interrupts the scene.
A loud metallic clang.
Penny jumps.
Penny Coppersnap: "Oh! That's the other market!"
She grins again.
The camera follows as Penny darts out from behind the stall.
She rushes through a hanging curtain of bright ribbons.
As she emerges on the other side, the colorful marketplace disappears.
She is now standing inside the Iron Ring Academy training facility.
Concrete walls.
Steel beams.
Wrestling mats.
Practice ropes.
Nothing magical at all.
Penny looks around appreciatively.
Penny Coppersnap: "Not as many sparkles."
She looks toward the ring.
Penny Coppersnap: "But a very good selection of things to climb on."
A quick training montage begins.
Penny runs the ropes.
Faster.
Faster still.
She attempts an elaborate tumbling sequence, misjudges her landing slightly, and rolls awkwardly across the mat.
She springs back to her feet.
Penny Coppersnap: "Still counts!"
Another cut.
Penny practices a rapid series of evasive movements against a training partner.
She ducks beneath an attempted clothesline.
Spins away.
Changes direction unexpectedly.
Her partner reaches for her.
She's already somewhere else.
Another cut.
Penny climbs the turnbuckles.
She looks toward the training mats below.
She reaches into one of her pouches.
Pulls out the blue ribbon.
Penny Coppersnap: "Balance."
She tucks it away.
Then launches.
A clean landing.
She celebrates with a little whistle.
The whistle is answered by the sharp voice of an unseen Academy trainer.
Academy Trainer: "Penny! Again!"
Penny immediately straightens.
Penny Coppersnap: "Yes, coach!"
She climbs again.
This time, the landing is cleaner.
The camera follows her through several more repetitions.
Her enthusiasm never disappears.
But the movements become a little more deliberate.
A little more controlled.
Then the camera shifts to another corner of the training facility.
A practice referee stands beside the ropes.
Penny lies on the floor outside the ring.
The referee begins counting.
Practice Referee: "ONE!"
Penny scrambles upright.
Practice Referee: "TWO!"
She looks toward the ring.
Practice Referee: "THREE!"
Penny runs forward.
She slides beneath the bottom rope.
She is safely back inside before the fourth count.
She rolls onto her back, breathing heavily.
Penny Coppersnap: "Aha!"
The unseen trainer speaks again.
Academy Trainer: "What did you learn?"
Penny raises one finger from the canvas.
Penny Coppersnap: "The ring is where the winning happens!"
A pause.
Academy Trainer: "Again."
Penny groans theatrically.
Penny Coppersnap: "Oh, you're a very expensive customer."
She gets up anyway.
The whistle melody returns.
The image cuts back to the Whistle Wick Market.
Penny stands behind her little stall again.
But there is something different.
A new wooden sign hangs beside the counter.
THE MARKET RULES
1. KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TRADING.
2. KNOW WHAT YOU'RE KEEPING.
3. NEVER SPEND ALL YOUR LUCK AT ONCE.
Penny admires the sign proudly.
Penny Coppersnap: "There! Much better."
She turns toward the camera.
Penny Coppersnap: "See, I used to think wrestling was a bit like market day."
She begins gathering her little trinkets.
Penny Coppersnap: "You arrive with whatever you've got. You make a little noise. You show everybody your prettiest treasures."
She jingles the bells hanging from her belt.
Penny Coppersnap: "You run about, make a few trades, and hopefully everybody leaves happy!"
She pauses.
Penny Coppersnap: "But the Academy doesn't quite work that way."
She lays out three objects.
The blue ribbon.
The polished button.
The bent copper coin.
Penny Coppersnap: "Because it doesn't matter how much noise you make."
She touches the button.
Penny Coppersnap: "Or how brave you are."
She touches the ribbon.
Penny Coppersnap: "Or how clever your feet happen to be."
Finally, she picks up the coin.
Penny Coppersnap: "If you forget what you're supposed to be earning..."
She flips the coin into the air.
It spins.
Penny catches it.
Penny Coppersnap: "...you can go home with an empty purse."
She opens one of her pouches.
It is empty.
Penny looks genuinely disappointed for approximately half a second.
Penny Coppersnap: "And that's no way to run a market."
Then she smiles again.
Penny Coppersnap: "But don't you worry!"
She immediately begins stuffing her trinkets into their separate pouches.
Penny Coppersnap: "I've got plenty more to trade!"
She points toward the camera.
Penny Coppersnap: "I'm a friend to fairies and foes alike."
She raises the tiny brass whistle.
Penny Coppersnap: "I don't mind if you're a princess, a monster, a champion or a great big grumpy wrestler who doesn't believe in any of this."
She gives the camera a knowing look.
Penny Coppersnap: "I especially like the grumpy ones."
A mischievous grin spreads across her face.
Penny Coppersnap: "They never know what to do with a nice little goblin girl offering them a present."
She reaches beneath the counter and produces a small cloth pouch.
A handwritten label hangs from it.
FOR MY NEXT OPPONENT
Penny shakes the pouch.
Something rattles inside.
Penny Coppersnap: "A little gift!"
She opens it.
Inside are several tiny wooden stars.
Penny Coppersnap: "One lucky star. No charge. No tricks. No funny business."
She raises a finger.
Penny Coppersnap: "Well, almost no funny business."
She giggles.
Penny Coppersnap: "I can't promise not to be funny."
Penny places one of the stars on the counter.
Penny Coppersnap: "Because I don't want anybody going into a match feeling unlucky."
She considers her next words carefully.
Penny Coppersnap: "I want them feeling wonderful."
A pause.
Penny Coppersnap: "Right up until I beat them."
She smiles brightly.
Penny Coppersnap: "That's much nicer, don't you think?"
The camera slowly moves closer.
Penny Coppersnap: "And I know something else now."
She places both hands on the counter.
Penny Coppersnap: "Luck is lovely."
She picks up the ribbon.
Penny Coppersnap: "But balance takes practice."
She picks up the button.
Penny Coppersnap: "Courage takes heart."
She picks up the acorn.
Penny Coppersnap: "And growing takes time."
Finally, she lifts the bent copper coin.
Penny Coppersnap: "And winning?"
She closes her fingers around it.
Penny Coppersnap: "Winning takes remembering why you climbed into the ring in the first place."
For a moment, Penny is completely still.
Then she opens her hand.
The coin rests in her palm.
Penny Coppersnap: "Which is why I've decided to keep this one."
She tucks the bent coin into a separate pouch.
Unlike the others, she fastens this pouch securely.
Penny Coppersnap: "Not for trading."
She pats it.
Penny Coppersnap: "For remembering."
The cheerful music begins building again.
Penny leaps onto a small wooden crate behind the counter.
She nearly loses her balance.
Her arms windmill comically.
Then she steadies herself.
Penny Coppersnap: "HA! See? Practice!"
She spreads her arms wide.
Penny Coppersnap: "So come one! Come all! Bring your buttons, your ribbons, your shiny little coins and your very best wrestling boots!"
She points dramatically toward the camera.
Penny Coppersnap: "The Whistle Wick Market is always open!"
She pauses.
Penny Coppersnap: "Except when I'm wrestling."
She thinks again.
Penny Coppersnap: "Or training."
Another pause.
Penny Coppersnap: "Or eating lunch."
She shrugs.
Penny Coppersnap: "Oh, you know what I mean!"
Penny raises the tiny brass whistle to her lips.
She blows three bright, cheerful notes.
Then looks directly into the camera.
Penny Coppersnap: "And remember, my lovelies..."
She leans forward, her voice dropping to a mischievous whisper.
Penny Coppersnap: "A penny for your thoughts..."
She winks.
Penny Coppersnap: "...but two points for a win!"
Penny explodes into delighted laughter.
A small shower of glitter falls from somewhere above the stall.
She looks up.
Penny Coppersnap: "Oh! That's where I put it!"
She attempts to catch the glitter in one of her pouches.
The pouch slips from her fingers.
Penny bends to retrieve it.
Several other pouches tumble loose.
Trinkets scatter across the counter.
Penny Coppersnap: "Oh, fiddlesticks!"
She scrambles to catch everything.
The camera begins pulling away.
Penny looks up one final time.
Penny Coppersnap: "COME BACK SOON!"
The brass bell rings.
The marketplace fades to black.
"WHISTLE WICK" PENNY COPPERSNAP
THE GOBLIN MARKET'S LITTLE TRADER
FAST FEET. BRIGHT SPARKS. A POCKETFUL OF TROUBLE.
Then one final handwritten sign appears.
ALL TRADES FINAL.
ALL LESSONS REMEMBERED.
A single cheerful whistle sounds.
Cut back to the Iron Ring Academy.
The camera settles on Paul Redford and Dave "The Brute" Kent at the commentary desk.
Paul is smiling.
Dave appears to be considering something.
Paul Redford: "Well, Dave, I think it's fair to say we haven't had a Wrestler Spotlight quite like that one before."
Dave Kent: "No. We certainly haven't."
Paul Redford: "Your assessment of Penny Coppersnap?"
Dave looks toward the now-dark monitor.
Dave Kent: "She's peculiar."
Paul laughs.
Paul Redford: "I think she'd consider that a compliment."
Dave Kent: "Good. I intended it as one."
Paul looks genuinely surprised.
Paul Redford: "You did?"
Dave Kent: "Absolutely. The girl has personality. She has athleticism. She has enough energy to power the entire Academy."
Dave leans forward.
Dave Kent: "And underneath all those bells, ribbons and imaginary good-luck charms, I think there's a wrestler who understands something important."
Paul Redford: "What's that?"
Dave Kent: "People ought to enjoy watching you wrestle."
A pause.
Dave Kent: "But if you want to make a career of it, you've also got to learn how to win."
Paul Redford: "And Penny seems to be learning that lesson."
Dave Kent: "We'll find out. But I will say this."
Dave glances toward the ring.
Dave Kent: "You can teach somebody how to run the ropes. You can teach them how to execute a hold. You can teach them how to recognize an opening."
He looks toward Paul.
Dave Kent: "You cannot always teach someone how to make an audience care."
The image of Penny grinning beneath the Whistle Wick Market sign briefly reappears.
Dave Kent: "Penny Coppersnap doesn't appear to have that problem."
Paul Redford: "And perhaps that's one very valuable commodity she brought with her from the Goblin Market."
Dave Kent: "Now let's see what she can build around it."
The monitor fades to the Iron Ring Academy logo.
The crowd applauds as the broadcast prepares to move toward the evening's closing evaluation.
LIVE FROM THE IRON RING ACADEMY
The broadcast returns to the Iron Ring Academy following the colorful and chaotic Wrestler Spotlight on Penny Coppersnap.
The cheerful whistle melody fades.
The familiar metallic clang of the Academy anvil replaces it.
The camera moves across the tightly packed audience.
Several recruits are still watching from near the rear entrance. Others stand along the barricades, discussing the matches they have just witnessed.
There are no elaborate celebrations.
No fireworks.
Just another night of competition completed, and another set of results waiting to be evaluated.
The camera settles on the commentary desk.
Paul Redford sits beside Dave "The Brute" Kent.
Paul Redford: "Welcome back to the Iron Ring Academy. Four weeks of Quarter Four competition are now in the books, and tonight provided another fascinating collection of results."
Dave Kent: "And some very useful information."
Paul Redford: "Two twenty-minute draws, an impressive singles debut, and a main event that may have changed how we look at one of this quarter's biggest surprises."
Dave Kent: "Which is exactly why we wrestle the matches instead of awarding contracts after somebody has one good night."
The monitor behind them lights up.
QUARTER FOUR — WEEK FOUR COMPLETE
A series of highlights begins.
Dorian Argent secures the Golden Clause against Piers Holloway.
Holloway struggles free.
Another image.
The Piper's Due.
Then the final Scoop Powerslam and Side Russian Leg Sweep.
The clock expires.
MATCH 1 — ANVIL BLOCK
DORIAN ARGENT & PIERS HOLLOWAY
20-MINUTE DRAW
Paul Redford: "Our opening contest saw Dorian Argent and Piers Holloway battle through the entire twenty-minute time limit."
Dave Kent: "And neither one should be satisfied."
Paul Redford: "Both men earn one point."
Dave Kent: "Yes. Piers demonstrated that he belongs in the competition. He defended well, found repeated success with his Short-Arm Clothesline and survived some difficult submission situations."
The footage shows Dorian applying the Abdominal Stretch.
Dave Kent: "And Dorian showed that he still has the physical tools to hurt somebody."
The final Powerslam appears again.
Dave Kent: "But this was another match where Dorian couldn't turn his offense into a victory."
Paul Redford: "And the result leaves both wrestlers trailing Eirik Ironward, who entered tonight with four points."
Dave Kent: "That's the important part. Eirik didn't wrestle tonight, and neither man closed the gap by very much."
The monitor changes.
ANVIL BLOCK — MEN
EIRIK IRONWARD — 4
OWEN STARLING — 2
DORIAN ARGENT — 1
PIERS HOLLOWAY — 1
KRYST FELLWINTER — 0
Paul Redford: "And that makes next week's Anvil Block contest particularly significant."
Dave Kent: "It does. Somebody needs to start putting pressure on Eirik."
The screen changes.
Prototype LEXA9 catches Esme Nightshade.
SYSTEM LOCK!
The leg is trapped.
Esme struggles.
LEXA9 maintains the control and forces her shoulders down.
One.
Two.
Three.
MATCH 2 — ANVIL BLOCK
PROTOTYPE LEXA9 DEFEATS ESME NIGHTSHADE
PINFALL — 15 MINUTES
Paul Redford: "Our second match saw Prototype LEXA9 make an impressive Quarter Four singles debut, defeating Esme Nightshade in fifteen minutes."
Dave Kent: "And that's my technical performance of the night."
Paul Redford: "You were particularly impressed by her strategy."
Dave Kent: "Absolutely. Fifteen minutes. One consistent objective. Attack the leg, compromise the base, and keep returning to what works."
The screen replays the opening-minute System Lock.
Then the Single Leg Crab.
Finally, the deciding pinning combination.
Dave Kent: "She attacked the leg in the opening minute and used that same weakness to finish the match. That's not an accident. That's a wrestler understanding how to build toward a result."
Paul Redford: "And Esme Nightshade certainly had her opportunities."
Dave Kent: "She did. Two Witching Hours. Plenty of offense. But tonight she met somebody who kept solving the problems she presented."
The standings appear.
ANVIL BLOCK — WOMEN
CORVINA ASH — 2
ESME NIGHTSHADE — 2
SORINA — 2
PROTOTYPE LEXA9 — 2
PATCHWORK PEG — 0
Paul Redford: "And now four women are tied at two points."
Dave Kent: "Which makes this a fascinating block. Nobody has separated herself. And everybody is going to have to start beating somebody who matters."
The monitor briefly changes to footage from the opening Wrestler Spotlight.
Veronica "Vee" Vandal stands beside Sorina.
Sorina's words replay.
Sorina: "I stopped waiting."
Another clip.
Sorina: "The submission isn't the lesson."
Then her final words.
Sorina: "Then keep watching."
Paul Redford: "And earlier tonight, our first Wrestler Spotlight featured Sorina, who spoke candidly with Vee Vandal about the disappointing evaluations and missed opportunities that have followed her Academy career."
Dave Kent: "And I liked what I heard."
Paul Redford: "Because she acknowledged the criticism?"
Dave Kent: "Because she understood the criticism. There's a difference."
The footage shows Sorina submitting Patchwork Peg in one minute the previous week.
Dave Kent: "She finally recognized that surviving a wrestling match and winning a wrestling match are two different skills."
The screen freezes on the submission.
Dave Kent: "Now she has to prove that wasn't just one good minute."
The next highlight package begins.
Penny Coppersnap catches Beatrice Boup.
WICKED SPINNER SPECIAL!
Another image.
Beatrice traps Penny in the Boston Crab.
Then the nineteenth minute.
KANGAROO FLIP!
One.
Two.
Penny kicks out.
The final exchange appears.
GLIMMERBOMB TOSS!
MULE KICK!
Bell.
MATCH 3 — HAMMER BLOCK
PENNY COPPERSNAP & BEATRICE BOUP
20-MINUTE DRAW
Paul Redford: "Our third match saw Penny Coppersnap and Beatrice Boup battle through another twenty-minute draw."
Dave Kent: "And I imagine Penny is getting tired of hearing those words."
Paul Redford: "Two Quarter Four matches. Two draws. Two points."
Dave Kent: "But there was an important correction tonight."
The monitor rewinds to the seventh minute.
Beatrice sends Penny outside with a Monkey Flip.
The referee begins counting.
Penny immediately returns to the ring at five.
Dave Kent: "Last week, Penny got caught up fighting Bridget O'Hare outside and allowed the count to reach ten."
The earlier double countout appears briefly.
Dave Kent: "Tonight she remembered the count. She returned to the ring. That is development."
Paul Redford: "Unfortunately, she still couldn't secure the victory."
Dave Kent: "Exactly. She solved one problem and discovered another."
The monitor shows Beatrice nearly winning with the Kangaroo Flip.
Dave Kent: "And don't overlook Beatrice Boup. She showed very good submission technique, excellent athleticism, and came within one count of winning."
Paul Redford: "But both women leave with one point."
Dave Kent: "And both need to find a way to earn two."
The screen changes to the closing images from Penny's Wrestler Spotlight.
The colorful Whistle Wick Market appears.
Penny smiles toward the camera, surrounded by trinkets, ribbons and copper coins.
Her recorded voice plays.
Penny Coppersnap: "A penny for your thoughts... but two points for a win!"
The Academy crowd laughs appreciatively.
Paul Redford: "And moments ago, we learned considerably more about the extraordinary personality behind 'Whistle Wick' Penny Coppersnap."
Dave Kent: "She's a character, all right."
Paul Redford: "A Goblin Market trader with a pocketful of charms and a seemingly endless supply of enthusiasm."
Dave Kent: "And underneath all that, she's beginning to learn how this business works."
The monitor shows Penny training inside the Academy.
Dave Kent: "She understands that the audience enjoys watching her. That's valuable. Plenty of wrestlers would give anything to connect with an audience that quickly."
The screen returns to the standings.
HAMMER BLOCK — WOMEN
LENORE VALMONT — 2
PATCHWORK PAIGE — 2
PENNY COPPERSNAP — 2
BRIDGET O'HARE — 1
BEATRICE BOUP — 1
Dave Kent: "But she's also starting to understand that applause doesn't put two points beside your name."
Paul Redford: "And perhaps the most important part of her development is learning to keep that personality while becoming a more complete wrestler."
Dave Kent: "Exactly. Don't turn her into somebody else. Teach her how to make what she already does effective."
The monitor fades.
Then the main-event highlights begin.
Finn Oakheart catches CHAT XYZ.
HANGING VERTICAL SUPLEX!
Another clip.
PILEDRIVER!
Another.
BACKBREAKER!
Finally, the thirteenth minute.
Finn lifts CHAT XYZ once more.
HANGING VERTICAL SUPLEX!
One.
Two.
Three.
MAIN EVENT — HAMMER BLOCK
FINN OAKHEART DEFEATS CHAT XYZ
PINFALL — 13 MINUTES
Paul Redford: "And our main event saw Finn Oakheart make a tremendous Quarter Four debut, defeating CHAT XYZ in thirteen minutes."
Dave Kent: "And that may have been the most important evaluation result of the evening."
Paul Redford: "Because CHAT XYZ defeated Nikolas Nocturne in his own debut?"
Dave Kent: "Exactly. That victory got everybody's attention. But tonight Finn Oakheart reminded us why you cannot evaluate somebody on one performance."
The replay shows the opening Hanging Vertical Suplex.
Dave Kent: "Finn established his advantage immediately. He used his strength, controlled the position, and repeatedly denied CHAT XYZ the opportunity to establish his own technical approach."
The screen shows the second Piledriver.
Dave Kent: "He didn't try to prove he was a better technical wrestler. He made CHAT XYZ wrestle his match."
Paul Redford: "And now both men have two points."
Dave Kent: "Which means the opening-week victory over the Iron General was impressive, but it wasn't a guarantee of anything."
The monitor changes to the standings.
HAMMER BLOCK — MEN
CHAT XYZ — 2
CALEB GRAVES — 2
FINN OAKHEART — 2
NIKOLAS NOCTURNE — 1
DANTE ROOK — 1
Paul Redford: "Three men tied at two points. And the reigning Iron General, Nikolas Nocturne, remains on one."
Dave Kent: "Which is why this is becoming one of the most interesting blocks in the Academy."
The image changes to CHAT XYZ defeating Nikolas Nocturne.
Then immediately to Finn Oakheart pinning CHAT XYZ.
Dave Kent: "CHAT XYZ beat the champion. Finn beat CHAT XYZ. And Nocturne still hasn't won a Quarter Four match."
Dave shakes his head slightly.
Dave Kent: "That's why you don't build an evaluation around reputation."
Paul Redford: "And for CHAT XYZ, the next challenge will be demonstrating how he responds to his first defeat."
Dave Kent: "Exactly. We know how he handles winning. Now let's find out how he handles losing."
The monitor goes black.
A new graphic appears.
QUARTER FOUR — WEEK FOUR
WHAT DID WE LEARN?
Paul Redford: "Four weeks into Quarter Four, the Academy continues to produce some very different developmental stories."
Dave Kent: "And that's what I want."
Paul Redford: "An Iron General without a victory. A former Iron Maiden Champion beginning to rediscover her finishing ability. A promising newcomer who has yet to win despite two entertaining performances. And an Anvil Block leader who has gone from an Unsatisfactory evaluation to four points."
Dave Kent: "Good. That's competition. Nobody's supposed to have everything figured out."
Dave looks toward the Academy ring.
Dave Kent: "The purpose of this place isn't to prove everybody is wonderful."
A pause.
Dave Kent: "It's to find out who's capable of becoming better."
The monitor changes.
NEXT WEEK
IRON RING: THE CRUCIBLE — EPISODE 039
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2026
Paul Redford: "And next week, Quarter Four competition continues with five scheduled matches, including a special tag-team evaluation."
Dave Kent: "Five matches. That's a lot of opportunities to change the standings."
The first match graphic appears.
MATCH 1 — ANVIL BLOCK — MEN
OWEN STARLING
VS
PIERS HOLLOWAY
Footage shows Owen Starling driving Kryst Fellwinter into the canvas with the Scoop Slam Piledriver.
Then his defeat against Eirik Ironward.
The screen changes to Piers Holloway executing the Piper's Due against Dorian Argent tonight.
Paul Redford: "Owen Starling returns to action against Piers Holloway. Owen enters with two points following his defeat against Eirik Ironward, while Piers has one point after tonight's draw."
Dave Kent: "And this is important for both men."
Paul Redford: "For Owen, an opportunity to recover from his first Quarter Four defeat."
Dave Kent: "And for Piers, an opportunity to prove tonight's twenty-minute performance wasn't just a respectable debut."
The standings appear briefly.
EIRIK IRONWARD — 4.
OWEN STARLING — 2.
PIERS HOLLOWAY — 1.
Dave Kent: "Owen can join Eirik on four points with a victory. Piers can put himself right into the conversation with three."
A pause.
Dave Kent: "But somebody has to win."
The second match graphic appears.
MATCH 2 — HAMMER BLOCK — MEN
CHAT XYZ
VS
DANTE ROOK
The crowd reacts as footage of tonight's main event appears.
Finn Oakheart delivers the final Hanging Vertical Suplex.
Three-count.
The footage changes to Dante Rook wrestling Nikolas Nocturne to a twenty-minute draw last week.
Paul Redford: "And speaking of responding to defeat, CHAT XYZ returns immediately next week against Dante Rook."
Dave Kent: "Excellent matchup."
Paul Redford: "You consider it especially important for CHAT XYZ?"
Dave Kent: "Absolutely. He entered tonight with the confidence of somebody who had beaten the Iron General. Then Finn Oakheart spent thirteen minutes showing him there are other ways to win wrestling matches."
The monitor shows Dante Rook connecting with a Powerbomb.
Dave Kent: "And now he faces Dante Rook, who has more than enough offense to make another match very uncomfortable."
Paul Redford: "Dante enters with one point after his draw against Nocturne."
Dave Kent: "And he needs a victory just as badly. He has demonstrated that he can hit people with considerable force. What he hasn't demonstrated this quarter is that he can consistently finish the job."
The graphic shows both men.
CHAT XYZ — 2.
DANTE ROOK — 1.
Dave Kent: "One man trying to recover from defeat. Another trying to secure his first victory. That should tell us plenty."
The third match graphic appears.
MATCH 3 — HAMMER BLOCK — WOMEN
LENORE VALMONT
VS
BEATRICE BOUP
The Academy crowd responds as an image of the reigning Iron Maiden Champion appears.
Lenore Valmont stands in the ring.
The footage changes to Beatrice Boup nearly pinning Penny Coppersnap with the Kangaroo Flip tonight.
Paul Redford: "Our third match brings the reigning Iron Maiden Champion, Lenore Valmont, back into Quarter Four competition against Beatrice Boup."
Dave Kent: "And that is a difficult assignment for Beatrice."
Paul Redford: "She certainly showed plenty of ability against Penny Coppersnap tonight."
Dave Kent: "She did. Good athleticism. Good submission work. Good awareness. But she couldn't finish."
The footage changes to Lenore Valmont.
Dave Kent: "And now she faces the Iron Maiden Champion."
Paul Redford: "Lenore enters with two points, while Beatrice has one."
Dave Kent: "Which means Beatrice has the opportunity to make a very significant statement."
Dave points toward the champion's image.
Dave Kent: "You don't get many better opportunities to prove you've progressed than beating the person holding the distinction everybody else is chasing."
Paul Redford: "And for Lenore, a chance to move to four points."
Dave Kent: "Exactly. Champions don't get to stop developing just because they've won something."
The fourth match graphic appears.
MATCH 4 — ANVIL BLOCK — WOMEN
CORVINA ASH
VS
PROTOTYPE LEXA9
The monitor shows Corvina Ash in competition.
Then Prototype LEXA9 securing the System Lock against Esme Nightshade tonight.
The three-count plays again.
Paul Redford: "And perhaps our most significant standings matchup next week will feature Corvina Ash against Prototype LEXA9."
Dave Kent: "Now that's a benchmark."
Paul Redford: "Both women currently have two points."
Dave Kent: "And both have legitimate reasons to believe they can lead this block."
The monitor displays the standings.
CORVINA ASH — 2.
PROTOTYPE LEXA9 — 2.
Paul Redford: "Corvina has established herself as one of the Academy's strongest competitors, while LEXA9 demonstrated tonight that her systematic approach can produce decisive results."
Dave Kent: "Exactly. And I want to see what happens when that approach meets somebody who doesn't give up control easily."
The footage shows the System Lock again.
Dave Kent: "LEXA9 was able to work the leg against Esme. She kept returning to it until she won."
The monitor changes to Corvina Ash.
Dave Kent: "Next week she has to prove she can do the same against Corvina."
Paul Redford: "And with four wrestlers currently tied at two points, the winner could establish an important advantage."
Dave Kent: "That's exactly why this match matters."
The screen fades to black.
Then a new graphic appears.
MATCH 5 — SPECIAL TAG-TEAM EVALUATION
The Academy crowd reacts as two familiar figures appear on the screen.
PATCHWORK PAIGE & PATCHWORK PEG
Then the opposing team appears.
BRIDGET O'HARE & PENNY COPPERSNAP
Paul Redford: "And next week's fifth match is a special tag-team evaluation featuring the Patchwork Dolls against an intriguing combination of Bridget O'Hare and Penny Coppersnap."
Dave Kent: "Oh, that's an interesting decision."
Paul Redford: "For several reasons."
The monitor shows Patchwork Paige and Patchwork Peg working together against Beatrice Boup and Prototype LEXA9.
Flying Dropkick.
Moonsault.
Then LEXA9 securing the System Lock.
Patchwork Peg submits.
Paul Redford: "The Patchwork Dolls showed impressive teamwork in their previous tag-team evaluation, but ultimately came up short."
Dave Kent: "And that match revealed both their strength and their weakness."
Paul Redford: "Their strength being their natural chemistry?"
Dave Kent: "Exactly. They understand how to work together. They recognize positioning and timing. But knowing your partner doesn't mean you automatically know how to win."
The monitor changes to Patchwork Paige defeating Bridget O'Hare by countout last week.
Dave Kent: "And Paige has started correcting her mistakes."
Another image.
Sorina submitting Patchwork Peg in one minute.
Dave Kent: "But Peg is still looking for her first Quarter Four points and needs to recover from that very quick defeat."
Paul Redford: "And then we have the opposing team."
The monitor changes.
Bridget O'Hare and Penny Coppersnap battling outside the ring during their previous singles encounter.
The referee counts.
Eight.
Nine.
Ten.
Double countout.
Paul Redford: "Two weeks ago, Bridget and Penny were opponents. They fought through twenty minutes before both were counted out."
Dave Kent: "And now they're supposed to work together."
Paul Redford: "Do you think that's a problem?"
Dave Kent: "It could be. But that's precisely why I like the evaluation."
The monitor shows Penny smiling and waving toward the crowd.
Then Bridget, focused and serious.
Dave Kent: "They're very different personalities. Bridget is experienced and competitive. Penny is enthusiastic, unpredictable, and still learning when to slow herself down."
Paul Redford: "And their opponents are an established partnership."
Dave Kent: "Exactly. The Patchwork Dolls know how to communicate with each other. Bridget and Penny have to demonstrate they can put their previous match behind them and function as a team."
A pause.
Dave Kent: "That's not just a test of wrestling ability. It's a test of professionalism."
Paul Redford: "An opportunity for four women to demonstrate their development outside the singles Block competition."
Dave Kent: "And I'll be watching very closely."
The complete card appears.
NEXT WEEK — THE CRUCIBLE 039
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2026
MATCH 1 — ANVIL BLOCK — MEN
OWEN STARLING VS PIERS HOLLOWAY
MATCH 2 — HAMMER BLOCK — MEN
CHAT XYZ VS DANTE ROOK
MATCH 3 — HAMMER BLOCK — WOMEN
LENORE VALMONT VS BEATRICE BOUP
MATCH 4 — ANVIL BLOCK — WOMEN
CORVINA ASH VS PROTOTYPE LEXA9
MATCH 5 — SPECIAL TAG-TEAM EVALUATION
PATCHWORK PAIGE & PATCHWORK PEG
VS
BRIDGET O'HARE & PENNY COPPERSNAP
The Academy crowd responds enthusiastically to the completed card.
The monitor fades back to the Crucible logo.
Paul Redford: "Five matches next week, including two contests that could have a significant effect on the Anvil Block standings."
Dave Kent: "And some very interesting individual evaluations."
Paul Redford: "For now, another night at the Iron Ring Academy comes to an end."
The camera moves across the empty ring.
A few remaining recruits watch quietly from near the training area.
The Academy staff begin preparing the ring for the next day's training sessions.
Paul Redford: "Tonight, Dorian Argent and Piers Holloway fought through twenty minutes without a winner. Prototype LEXA9 made a successful singles debut. Penny Coppersnap and Beatrice Boup produced another competitive draw. And Finn Oakheart established himself with an impressive victory over CHAT XYZ."
Dave Kent: "And all of those results matter."
Paul Redford: "Because of what they tell us?"
Dave Kent: "Because of what the wrestlers do with them."
The monitor shows a rapid final montage.
Dorian Argent applying the Golden Clause.
Prototype LEXA9 securing the System Lock.
Penny Coppersnap scrambling back into the ring before the count reaches ten.
Finn Oakheart delivering the final Hanging Vertical Suplex.
Then Sorina standing beside Vee Vandal.
Dave Kent: "Winning matters. Losing matters. Drawing matters."
A pause.
Dave Kent: "But none of it means anything if you don't understand why it happened."
Paul Redford: "And perhaps that remains the fundamental lesson of the Crucible."
Dave Kent: "Exactly."
Dave looks directly into the camera.
Dave Kent: "A good match doesn't guarantee a good evaluation."
A beat.
Dave Kent: "A bad result doesn't mean you're finished."
Another.
Dave Kent: "And one victory doesn't mean you've arrived."
The monitor shows the Quarter Four standings one final time.
Paul Redford: "Every match is evidence."
Dave Kent: "Every mistake gets recorded."
Paul Redford: "And every correction matters."
The camera begins slowly pulling away from the commentary desk.
The Academy ring sits beneath the hard overhead lights.
The crowd continues applauding as the broadcast prepares to end.
Paul Redford: "For Dave 'The Brute' Kent, I'm Paul Redford. Thank you for joining us for another edition of Iron Ring: The Crucible."
Dave Kent: "And remember something."
Paul turns toward him.
Dave Kent: "The Academy doesn't care how good you think you are."
A pause.
Dave Kent: "It cares what you can prove."
The Crucible logo fills the screen.
Paul Redford: "Potential isn't enough."
Dave Kent: "Prove you belong."
The metallic anvil rings once.
Fade to black.
IRON RING: THE CRUCIBLE
POTENTIAL ISN'T ENOUGH.
PROVE YOU BELONG.
After Week #4
(Red is eliminated)
(Blue means qualified for next phase)
(Black - Lost tie breaker) (Green means 1st Place)
